I don't think the Neoboards should be abolished. First, we'd have a huge influx of new members using chatspeak and thinking that the forums move as fast as the Neoboards. Second, some parts of the Neoboards aren't all that bad. I go to the help board once in a while and answer questions which other people have not answered. I don't post in any threads which look even remotely obnoxious. I haven't had anything ever happen, no annyone neomails asking for things, and it feels good to be able to help someone when other people aren't helping at all.

I don't really think there's anything that could improve the Neoboards and make them "less annoying". It seems that the only solutions would be to either avoid the Neoboards entirely or be cautious and find those places where people are in need of assistance or participating in civilized discussions.

That is precisely why I don't think they need to be monitored or have anything done to improve them. The annoying people need a place to congregate so they don't spread too much.

We've already got some here. *cringes* We don't need more. They need to stay on the neoboards!

It's like, if you destroy all the forests and replace them with houses, you will get deer in your yard, eating your garden, running in front of your car and causing you to wreck, and driving the dogs crazy. You don't want that, you need to keep the deer in the forest.

The only difference is, the people in the neoboards are even more annoying, and there's no hunting season for them.

It's a terrible analogy you have there, if you destroy the animals environment they'll probably die out. Perhaps a few will try to adapt but we can kill them too

Wow, I just went to the neoboards and... cried.

Obviously you don't live in an area with a deer overpopulation problem. Animals don't always die if you destroy their habitat.
I thought it was a good analogy, sorry. *pouts in a corner* XD

I can live without neoboards. :P

But I know some people wouldn't play except for the chance to socialize on the boards.

...and okay, I'll admit they were helpful a few times when I needed to make a trade.

But overall? I think they need to be at the least TOTALLY REORGANIZED, because the categories are sloppy. (Fan clubs? Everyone knows it's just the general board!)

More categories would be useful as well. Having a Pound-related board for example, since quite a lot of topics are about pound-surfing, a pet stuck in the pound, a pet up for adoption, etc.

I'll admit that I'm not a big fan of the neoboards, but I think that getting rid of them would be throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Neopets really does need a place on-site where users can meet and talk. The neoboards are the only part of the site that does that at the moment. I'd go so far as to say that having conversations with other Neopians is my favorite part of being on Neopets.

Frankly, I think TNT needs a few more full-time chat monitors, rather than leaving so much up to filters and user reports. That, and a simple restructuring of the boards would make enough difference that I'd be willing to give the neoboards another shot. :)

Elephants, Tigers, native birds, etc...like I said the foxes and Tuis among them will survive, but perhaps we could direct them into somebody else forum or make special neoboard enclosures for them outside of neopets where they can be as moronic as they are.

Yes that's it! We need special moron reserves. "Do not feed the morons, please stay inside your car at all times. Feel free to take pictures. Souvenirs available at the gift shop."

No, I don't think they should be abolished. The fact that we'd get a lot of refugees here at PPT is the biggest reason I voted no.

I go on the neoboards to get help with faerie quests and go to the avatar board occassionally. The people in the quest forum are really quite helpful. I avoid anything that looks spammy or chatspeaky.
