Yes that could be a factor, but seriously they probably can balance it out so normal users aren't bombared with the other end of the scale. I usually judge if I want to continue a program and buy their premium service based on how well they treat the "free" users. This treatment does not want me to buy their services.

How are you not getting the banners? I am so close to getting neopets premium or quitting...one of the two. I swear some restockers must be on premium or aber's one of the two.

Is it just me? I'm barely getting the ads at all. They show up on every 8th page view or so, completely randomly. I just did all of my dailies and only saw 3 ads.
Also, as far as Dohring is concerned, I like to put it this way.
He owns the corporation, he owns neopets.com. He's the CEO. He's ultimately in charge of things like ads, servers, and paychecks.
Adam and Donna created Neopets, and he bought it from them.
Adam and Donna are in charge of Neopia. They handle the games, pets, items, and other on-site content. But ultimately have little control over what Dohring does with the site.
I'm basing this all on my own observations, so I may be entirely wrong, but meh.

If you change your language from english it gets rid of both the top and bottom ads. Oui, c'est vrai.

My feelings exactly! I was all primed to sign up with Premium after my next paycheck, but all this hoopla over the bottom advertisements has me rethinking my entire plans as far as continuing in Neopia. Also, I remember that several months ago, Adam said here on PPT that Premium members wouldn't see any ads ... at least not for now. That comment kind of raised a warning on my radar screen.
If TNT can't treat their "free" customers with respect, they don't deserve paying customers. As I see it, we pay TNT with our time. We are the product they market to the big advertisers, such as Disney, Warner Bros., General Mills, McDonald's, etc.
