For Neopets ONLY discussion.

Yeah, it's just a shame that this whole experiment is a very nice idea, but two people doing virtually the exact same thing is a bit strange, in my opinion. jrtman technically copied the basic idea, but the way he carried it out makes it different, and his goals are different - to see if it can be done on Neopets. However, when somebody else copies him, and does exactly the same goals as him, only with a different finishing target - that's when the experiment stops working as well.
If an entirely different target could be made, then it would be slightly more interesting - for example, starting a new account, and, without playing any games or doing any dailies or any way of gaining neopoints, and using just what can be found in the Newbie Pack, making a successful account. It would be similar, yet different.
I don't particularly want to try that, but maybe somebody else could - it would involve having to be ruthless on the Shop Wizard, and trades, and any other way you could pinch a few neopoints. It'd be interesting to see how that would turn out.

You should have tried the experiment, but without advertising. This is just ripping the idea and I dont think anyone here would be willing to help with the originall still going on.

The main difference as far as I can see is, jrtman did it for the sake of experimenting, and kcharles did it for her own personal gain. She completely copied his idea as well.

Call me weird or sensitive. My first reaction upon reading her post and then the next one saying "and your point is...?" made me immediately think that perhaps because jrtman received so many feedback and people who tried to help him, probably she wanted to start a thread of her own too and see if people would do the same for her and all that.
OK, that's mean. I don't usually do that. But hey, she didn't put petpage or anything, just opened a thread informing people of that. =/
Just my 2 cents.

To be honest, this is exactly what I thought aswell. I'm not in the habit of being mean or pointing out peoples faults or anything like that. But if this person is asking for feedback on 'their' idea then I have to say, it seems pretty much a plea for free stuff.

It's not so much an experiment as an extremely poor business plan:P It's what any shop owner does, marking up their items for a profit, except you're doing it with only one item, one item at a time. You're bound to succeed, but the time investment will be pretty hefty and there's much faster ways to earn the NPs for a paint brush.
All that said though, it is a pretty creative approach to begging. Take an (almost) unique idea public and hope people donate to your cause:) Would probably be more productive if you came up with an original idea though.

If you aren't careful tho, TNT could begin to consider this a new scam..."Hey, I'm doing this *experiment*, can you give me a more expensive item for this?" Of course, this would only happen with, say, advertising on boards/shops I suppose.

That's exactly what is worrying me right now. When I started the OBMP experiment it was an earnest attempt to see if I could recreate the ORP project on Neopets and get interest in it.
However what I am seeing now is a new method of begging being created, one which could potentially put accounts in jeopardy.

Enough is enough.
Some of you people need to go and watch Bambi and listen carefully to what that sweet grey rabbit named Thumper had to say.
"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".
If you had concerns reguarding the project becoming begging, why not PM a moderator to ask about it, rather then taking it out on the originator of the thread. There are a lot of members here who were very much out of line in posting in the manner in which they did.
And for the record.
It's not exactly begging, but instead smart trading. However to advertise it in this forum is innapropriate.
