I never understand it either, but it does seem to happen like clockwork.

I bought a few Scarabugs for 6k and a few for 14k. (Oops.) If I lose the NP, I lose the NP. :shrug: I'll be annoyed, but in the long run you make more money by speculating than by not speculating.

Generally my exeperience is that the time to sell is after someone finds the avatar on the servers... or at least, to sell enough to recoup your investment then, saving a few in case the avatar turns out to require the petpet.

I don't call it greed, I call it investment. Buy something you think is going to increase in price, sell it when it does, eat the loss if it doesn't. I regret failing to buy an investment item -- or buying too few -- far more often than I regret investing at all.

Hah. Glad I bought my Scarabug Maximillian over a year ago.

Is it me, or are the prices back down from 14k to 10k now?
Wonder what happened ...

A friend of my friend of mine posted on the Avatar Chat Boards that my friend had the Scarabug Avatar. Boy did she get angry, I sent her two Evanescence songs to make her happy.

It's the usual dip before the prices asplode - people who don't go to fan sites start to think they've been misled, there is no scarabug day so they panic and sell. Other people see the prices fall and panic and sell. The price gets lower and lower especially it seems in the evenings here (GMT time), rising in the mornings...tomorrow it may climb again and when the news comes out on wednesday and there is an avatar - boom. Generally the worse the dip the greater the boom. Of course if an avatar is found before the news comes out then the prices end up even higher.

Occasionally though the prices just fall flat, period Isn't speculation grand, heehee xD

I'm perfectly happy simply to restock 'em. It's a lot easier and cheaper if everybody's wrong

wow. brutal. this has got to be one of the biggest false-inflations in the history of neopia. i mean, the fact that they're affordable coupled with the fact that the day was found more than a week before it happened made everone buy one... and then they just fell flat. my condolences to anyone who did buy one! you win some, you lose some...

Ouch, condolences to those that bought high - I had a bad feeling and sold all but a couple earlier today. Nice to see an easy avatar again though after the nasty blumaroo day one

I've never understood "hoarder" haters, is it really so different from making nps any other way? It's simple speculation and I don't see why people revel in others misfortune. Perhaps if some gloat on the neoboards then sure, but most don't.
