Well, I've had exactly 18 opportunities from friends of mine to get rare and/or painted pets, but I've passed them all up because I've desperately wanted a Lutari since the ice cream stand first appeared.

That and just all the stupid things neo does, like that, and the 'game epidemic' a couple years ago....they smurf me off unbelievably. Irrational, maybe, but it still does.

Why do you people think Lutari would be only for cellphone users? TNT said it wouldn't be limited edition. If you actually read the article/poem carefully, it just says that there will be a place called Lutari Island on cellphones. This may mean more games for cellphone users, but we probable still get thee pet.

Because the news about it is all over the place, Gamespot for example, and neo have said in the past that there would be an exclusive cellphone pet. The Lutari is it and it seems to have been announced everywhere by In-Fusio.

We knew one pet was going to get this treatment and realistically it was always going to be the Lutari, now I guess we know for sure.

Last time something like this happened (when they released the whole slew of games that only people with a certain browser could play) I boycotted neo. Got a whopping 8000 people to quit, too, give or take 100 or so. Not that it did any good.

I'm glad I got to not liking the Lutari after it's huge rib cage annoyed me to no end, but I stillf eel this is unfair. TNT really shouldn't make a pet based on using a cell phone. Man,I hope other countries can get it as well with a cell phone are even more flames will rise.

Yup, TNT can be very unfair. I don't have or want a cell phone, but I was thinking to maybe get a Lutari on my side account.

Am i the only one who really doesnt care? I dont use that kind of cell phone... my is kind of out of date, and has no more but games, silly ringtons, and text messaging. its got zip zero nada. And i feel im not missing out on much.... sometimes, life isnt fair, and complaining that "its not fair" that only cell phone users would get a pet is dumb. You wouldnt be saying "its not fair" if they had it for your type of cell phone... and its perfectly fair, because nobody could have predicted the cell phone thing.... people who had them would just be lucky enough for that chance. There is nothing unfair about it. While we arent paying for neopets.... NOTHING on neopets... is unfair.

I'm disappointed. Very much so. I don't mind immersive advertising in the form of items and games. Who cares about that? I don't even care so much for the banner ads, since I've got Firefox.

But this... this is teh sux. Restricting pets and places to a phone? You realise that this is just the beginning? I couldn't give a stuff about the Lutari and In-Fusio Island and all this stuff. What I care about is the fact that this is just the first step.

There seems to be a general opinion that this will only be available in the US, does it actually say that anywhere? I'd like to know if it will be possible to get in the UK.

And maybe the Lutari will only initially be able to be created in this way before a general release? That would get the company publicity and customers while not screwing over the majority of neopets players.

If it is cell/mobile phone only then I think neopets has made a grave mistake. There is only so much shameless money making that neopets players can take, and as someone said further up the thread many people can't afford a mobile phone or if they can then they can't afford to go on neopets as goodness knows how much that would cost.

And to pick such a popular pet, especially amongst the younger players, is just stupid. And of course it's unfair - if it is allowed in the UK then my phone will certainly be compatible, that doesn't mean I won't still find it unfair for the huge number of people who will be unable to get this pet. Merchandise is all very well but making it so we have to pay for virtual things on their virtual site? I can't think of anything more unfair, or hypocritical, that neo have done. It is most certainly unfair.

I'm greatly dissappointed to say the least. They promised not to have banner ads (or at least said they wouldn't) and then they broke that.

They also promised not to give paying customers an unfair advantage that would cripple the free customers.

Looks like they are going to break that one too.

BTW I sent them my feelings in the editorial. I doubt they will put it up in the times but I had to do something to express my anger and dissappointment.

I also mentioned not everyone can afford to use the web service on their phones or even have the right kind of phone, if even own a phone at all.

I, myself cannot afford it. I have a phone and I think it would work being a moterilla, but I'm on a family plan so if I end up exceeding my allowicated time, then everyone else in the family has to pay for it.

So yeah. It's not worth being yelled at by three angry people just so I can own a lutari.

Well it doesn't really cripple anyone - It's a bit different but thats like saying people who can't earn NP on a big scale are crippled because they can't afford weapons which have more icons...

What I'm trying to say is that owning a Lutari isn't really necessary to enjoy neopets and if not owning a Lutari really does cripple your neopets experience then I'm sure that you can come to an arrangement with your family to allow you to use WAP for something which means a lot to you in butterflyhornet's case...

I hope I haven't offended anybody directly or indirectly but that is my view on the current situation and I hope you can respect my point of view and see my side of the debate

Being able to earn np is a little different from not having much money in real life though. There are plenty of people rich in neopets that have no real money and vice versa. Advantages in neopets for those with more neopoints are part of the game so to speak. Yes inflation is incredibly out of control but the basic principle remains. And yes even without a fast net connection (like myself) it is possible to earn a lot of nps regardless.

Restricting what some one can do on neopets because of their real life financial situation is a whole different ball game.
