Is there any way to tell what item is duped, or do they work as well as the real thing?

Now, dont get me wrong here - im not a cheater - i do have freinds who go on 'cheating forums' and things so i asked them i they could tell me any information about it

ill explain how it was done, if im not mistaken this is the only method and doesent work anymore

It was done useing a certain browser which i said befor (opera) - going to the sdb and edited the source so for example if i wanted to dupe my 'Blue Bouncy Ball' i'd search it in the source code (still in opera webbrowser) and underneath is this bit of code



What the cheater done is edit slightly by changeing value=0 to value=0.1 both of them this made it so when they selected the item and press 'move to inventory' they would have it in both deposit box and inventory - to make this easier for them i belive there was a program out to do it automaticly for them

now whenever it's tryied i belive you get a error along the lines 'ERROR: Error'

so thats basicly how it was done, quite simple

Once the sdb was patched - they propaly tryied the shops and gallery but i think they failed/or tnt patched that aswell because they have the same method of object code

'<option value=0>0</option>
<option value=1>1</option>'

hope this make's you understand a little bit more about how it was done and how tnt patched it - you wont get the error i think only if you edit that certain part of source code which is propaly just about all they can do in opera

Opera is a very powerfull webbrowser - you wouldent belive what cheaters can do in it to cheat the game in any way

Oh - and a mod can remove my post if the above information cant be released anywhere (tho i fail to see why it wont because it doesent work anymore)

To those with dupe items - good luck getting unfrozen (if you have duped items and your still unfrozen then wow! because tnt banned lots of people with dupes yesterday)

My girlfriend is relatively new to the site... is there any advice I can give to prevent her from falling prey to these incredibly seemingly-innocent scams? Things like this could be a nusance for seasoned veterans who know how the site works, but they could be devastating and (more importantly) disillusioning for a newbie. Can you imagine what someone new to the game must feel after being accused of cheating and having their account frozen? And by new, I don't mean just a few days who would just shrug it off and not care. I'm talking about someone who's relatively new, and really getting into it.

Someone said earlier that this is more than just "a game." It's very true. Neopets is an investment of time, thought, and energy for the sake of entertainment. In some weird, almost pathetic way... I've become attached to the site (along with my fellow PPTers (hugs you all)). Knowing that someone would do this just for kicks... makes ya just wanna punch the person, doesn't it? Targeting innocent people and screwing up an economy... (punts the people responsible).

anyways, i took advantage of the duping stuff, and used my gallery accounts to play games and visisted tombola, fruit machine and i transsfered the nps over to my account and have not got frozen, anyways i am very angry now because i could have duped all my codestones now

They're not finished removing all the duped items and freezing cheaters yet. I hope they get every single person who knew what they were doing and tried to profit off this.

I completely agree with you Cranberry. I hope all of those cheaters and scammers and dupers get iced/fozen. My little brother has an acount and he has been terrified to play because his little neopets account means so much to him and he doesnt want to get frozen... I blame this on dupers.

Whoa, you did a whole lot of rule-breaking there, eh? You are not the only one angry. I am very, very angry. At you. For coming on this site and bragging about your accomplishments. I hope that they freeze every single person who knowingly took advantage of the duping situation. "Knowingly" means if you bought something knowing it was duped or sold something knowing it was duped. If the shoe fits, imre . . . And my guess is that shoe is a perfect fit.

And, it really isn't too smart to brag about cheating on this site, you know. There are a few Neopets staffers who are members of this forum and, my guess, probably a lot more of them lurk.

Yes, but TNT can quite easily pull up all trade transactions that involve a T-Tear and SoS. They have easy access to that information.

I've been haning around the BDC and people are still getting items deleted, and quite a few people are getting frozn for taking advantage of the situation. My guess is that it'll take a good fewdays to get through it all, but kudos to TNT for the handling of this situation.

Yuck- what an awful situation this is. I hope everyone that is innocent and was frozen can get their accounts back as soon as possible.

Imre, you are pretty pathetic. To knowingly take adavantage is bad enough. But to go around and brag about it- that's sad. If you think you are safe, I wouldn't be so sure. I wouldn't doubt it you are frozen very soon.

Shifty, I wish I had an answer for you. I have no idea how to tell if something is a "real" (Neo-created) item or a duplicate. There's something to do with each item having a number. And someone was trying to explain on one of the boards, I think the BD Chat, that each item has it's own number. But I don't know how that helps us average players as far as knowing what is and isn't ok, especially in the case of the normal/junk items that were duped. Some of the duped items apparently do or at least did work, there were people who fed cool neggs and fneggs to their pets, and some people did paint their pets with the duped pbs. At the very least, any stats from the neggs and any painting should be reversed - that is totally an unfair advantage.

There may be someone here who can give you a better answer. Thing is, I don't know unless you have the item that you could tell. Except for the absurd stuff in auctions/trades/shops. A t-tear for 99k indeed

jxpop, the only thing I can suggest for your g/f is to only use items from dailies (tombola, omelette, jelly, fishing, etc.) and to buy from the main Neopian shops if she wants anything else. I wouldn't go to the tp or auctions looking for, say, a pb right now. Basically, I wouldn't buy anything from anyone other than Neo. As far as feeding her pets? The Lodge, if she doesn't have omelettes or other cheap (like from the fishing game, etc.) food sitting in her sdb.

Even the seasoned vets are being affected by this, no one is exempt. Can't even trust codestones and dubloons, so alot of us aren't training (unless they have a nice stash already - which I don't).

Anyone and everyone who deliberately chose to try to take advantage of this deserves what they get - and IMHO they deserve to be frozen. The people who started this and kept duping items? Just freezing isn't nearly enough. There's too many people who've been wrongly frozen and never got their accounts back and have every reason to be really upset and angry that these people are still on the site going on their merry way. And there are people who've been frozen just for having been sent these duped items before they could do anything about it or even knew (the early victims of the send to neofriend duped items before it became known that this was happening). They should all get their accounts back.

I have been lurking in the BD and Premium chats and have seen several people "complain" about being frozen for selling/auctioning/trading duped items, even if they didn't dupe them in the first place. And, one person was frozen because he put the t-tear in his SDB. And, my guess is that this is just the beginning of the crackdown.

So, those of you who knowingly bought or sold a duped item or are using an item that you know is duped (such as equipping a pet and battling) should be shaking in your boots right now. Anyone who thinks they are going to get away with this, guess again. TNT just hasn't gotten around to you, yet.

imre, I'm going to agree with everyone else on this one. This is a Neopets HELP site. Not a "cheating on Neopets and finding whatever way to crash it" site.


Yeah...you're almost, if not, as bad as the dupers themselves.
Taking advantage over a bunch of items, while a ton of innocent accounts, were being frozen.



4. Do not create any new Neopets or accounts if you are not going to take care of them. You cannot have multiple accounts just to get more Neopoints or items. You are only allowed a maximum of five (5) accounts and can earn Neopoints with only one (1) account. Users who break this rule can have all of their accounts frozen.

That's straight from the Terms and Conditions, something that you're definitely ignoring.

So basically you know that you're cheating, and you're bragging about it.


Maybe not, but there's one thing they -can- do. They can try. And they can try, to find you.

Morningstar, I know of one person who got something and in a panic stuck it in their sdb - they posted on a board about it. They'd just logged in, found what they thought was a "deal" - a misprice, someone leaving, etc., bought then read what was going on. I think they took it out and put it on the tp (hope they did).

Just about everyone honest is giving the same advice I've posted on this topic how many times -- if you get something, anything, and you're not sure if it's real or not, put it in a trade with a note to TNT to please delete if it's not the real thing, and to write to support alerting them. Yes, some people have been frozen for doing that (which makes NO sense) and I really hope they get their accounts back - fast.

The people who've equipped/used/sold/stuffed in their sdb in hopes of evading having the item(s) deleted or frozen? Well, I have to say Shame on You. Even if somehow you don't get caught right now, I'm pretty sure at some point you will. And what about the person who you eventually sell to/trade with using that duped item? Not only will you get frozen, but so will the other person. I can't believe some people can be so thoughtless and greedy -- on a game site. What are these people like in rl?!

Jumping on the "Irme you're going to get frozen" bandwagon. Cheating to get virtual items is pathetic, Neopets is a game, and cheating to win games is pointless, there's nothing to brag about if you didn't earn it. You want codestones? Go c/p the page source of your pet's lookup and put it into notepad. Search for your pet's strength, change it to 500, save, and view the document. Wow. Your pet has 500 strength. Yay for you. See? It really has no meaning if you don't earn it.

Back on topic, I don't think they're going to do a rollback now. It's been too long. The longer they wait the more np everyone loses.
