it's funny, there's an Against Me! song called "Sink, Florida, Sink".

I think I forgot to mention that we drove around the little small town that we live in(well just outside of) and there was twisted up metal EVERYWHERE and where my Cousin used to work there is NO roof at all..not even the trusses

And I've heard several things about the Damage done to Bok Tower and am in the process of researching it but not getting far.

Bok Tower in Lake Wales was damaged along with a mobile home factory near it. Was watching the feed from channel 13 in Tampa the day after the hurricane.

I have found out the damage.I also saw some pictures. The website is http://www.boktower.org
I've never been there but I wanted to go....and now it won't be the same it looks like to me because of all the plant damage.

Apparantly there's 4-6 of these tropical hurricanes every year. If they hit so often.. why do people still move there?

There are some amazing places to live, and of course the views along the coastline are great. And there's the year-round summer weather. And Disney World. It's a matter of weighing pros and cons. Besides, there are certain areas that seem to consistently get hit harder than others.

I've been told that Florida is the mother of retirement states. The funny thing is, while it gets hit with hurricanes, why do people keep using caravans as their houses? In addition, why are underground bunkers not able to be built (because of sand?) but underground swimming pools are possible?

A lot of the destruction caused is party due to the flimsy-ness of the new construction techniques for homes. Whenever you see one of those pretty new homes being built, you probably noticed that most of it was just wood, right? Well, wood gets blown over easily. My house is of older quality and not as pretty, but it's made out of brick with a few steel beams placed here and there, meaning it won't be going anywhere for awhile (especially since in PA nothing much happens weather-wise).

Miami. As in South Florida. Cool, isn't it? XD

Actually, my science teacher was talking about it today and I'm an idiot. It's not here, but we're expecting it to hit us full force. One kid keeps saying it'll kill us all, and if not, it'll destroy our houses.
How pleasant.

(And you know what? It's still sunny. XD)

I feel really sorry for everyone in Florida right now. Why?

Looks like when that hurricane hits, it'll be a doozy. Good luck folks.

Yep...Hurricane Francis is bearing down on FL. :( Hurricanes are determined to get my small town I think.Charley almost gave us a direct hit and now it looks as if Francis will give us an almost if not direct hit *groans*

Yeah, and since it's that far away and seemingly moving at a slow pace it'll be one, big hurricane once it gets to you. I hope it'll change course and merely graze the coast. It'll be easier for everyone that way.

Francis seems to be moving higher up north to where it will hit alomst directly on my sissy in Palm Coast. It all depends though cause its got 3 or four more days before it hits Florida soooo ya.But depending where it hit I may be going to my sissy's or she might be coming here.To all you guys who are in a possile line of this storm and myself I hope everything turns out okay and I'm prayin for us all.

But they said that it could move and come here...well the inplyed it.Charley was kinda fun to watch....but got boring after a while..it was kinda cool to see the clouds spin...but being without power was awful as well as all the damage.

At least something good came out of it. Brain Johnson, Cliff Williams (both from AC/DC) and Brian Howe (formerly of Bad Company) are doing a concert for charity for the victoms of Charley.
