Reality TV On PPT

You're fired!"

"You are the fourth member voted off the island."

"You are officially a pile of crap."

Okay, so that last one might be a saying I would want on my own reality show, but that doesn't matter. Just like in real life, PPT members have a love and hate of reality television. Why do some people live for it, and some people well... wish they could kill it? I asked a few PPTers that very question.

Ammer is one person from PPT that really loves reality TV. His favorite shows include Big Brother, Survivor, The Apprentice, The Surreal Life, and more. Why exactly does he love it so much? "It's not as if I enjoy seeing pain and suffering (I.E Survivor), but I do like the process of contestants being eliminated and voted for. It intrigues me," Ammer said.

Ammer doesn't just watch reality, he makes his own. He recently started PPT Big Brother 3, and he has done versions of The Apprentice. Why did he make these NNV games? "I guess since I enjoyed them so much, I wanted them to be enjoyed by others."

This left me with a question. Are NNV games just like reality TV? Ammer answered this question. "In a way, I do think so. Many of these contests require strategy, wit and imagination. Many PPTers complain reality television is about people suffering, but I always see people yelling and whining in many PPT contests such as Werewolf, PPTTG, and Survivor."

So, we've heard from a reality lover. The PPT user Koku isn't in the same boat though. She hates reality television. "People are really willing to do anything to get on TV," Koku said.

She also believes that these shows aren't really "reality". "I suppose it might be that I've watched so many specials on these shows on VH1. I know they've been completely edited to death just to attract viewers."

Koku has been a contestant in PPTTG. Does she think that PPTTG and other NNV games are like reality shows? "PPTTG sort of reminds me of American Idol. But I usually categorize a reality TV show as something that shows interaction between others, and American Idol really isn't like that."

What does she think about other NNV games? "Stuff like Werewolf and The Amazing Race I would probably consider reality TV shows. With less catfights."

So, you've heard from two sides of the debate. Where do you stand? Oh well, it doesn't matter. You were just evicted from the house.
