Choosing Weapons

Written by: Xil

THE BATTLEDOME--victory, pride, triupmh, and defeat, many things lie within the biggest spectical of Neopia. Considerable amounts of glory, fame, and fortune also sleep there. Whether we choose to go for the gold or don't, is entirely up to us.

When battling, it is important to remember that the weapon is what will make you. Regardless of how how much HP or defense you have, the offensive weapon generally dictates who will win. To choose a weapon, it is important to keep in mind a few different things: what kind of weapon it is, what type of damage it will do, how many icons it will deal, and most of all - what is costs.

What Kind of Weapon It Is

Generally, many different items are available to the public. Anything from a Ghostkersword to a Florbix Blaster can be acquired by you on your many journeys throughout Neopia (granted, there are considerably different amounts of work for both). The type of weapon generally means if it is REFLECTIVE, OFENSIVE/DEFENSIVE or GENERAL. General offensive weapons are ones which just deal straight icons. Instead of doing anything special, they merely do a certain amount of damage. Reflective weapons are weapons which absorb the enemy's attack, and reflect it back at them. Offensive/defensive weapons are ones that both attack and defend, allowing for a more even attack.

What Type of Damange It Will Do

All weapons in Neopia deal certain types of damage. Some weapons will deal only one type of damage, while others will do different types. Generally, you want a good variety but not spread so thin that only one icon gets through. Currently, in Neopia EARTH icons are the most common and easily blocked, so you may want to avoid them for now. Other icon types include light, fire, water, wind, and dark.

How Many Icons It Will Deal

The number of icons dealed by a weapon can be very complex. Most weapons are variable, meaning that they may say they deal a certain amount of icons, but actually deliver signifigantly more or less. Generally, you want your weapons to deal more icons. The more icons dealt means more of a chance to deal real damage.

The Price of Your Weapon

Generally, the more icons dealt also equals the more costly it will be. As time has progressed, weapons have become steadily more expensive. This is because of inflation and the fact that so many people are now interested in the Battledome.

Some weapons are a steal, though; most species-specific items have not seen great inflation because the species is uncommon.
