MediaWiki talk:Protectedtalkpage

Ok, my plan is the following:
- Protect talk pages that are target of spam for some reason (e.g. Talk:NeoBoard).
- Make a redirect from the talk pages to this message.
The spammers wont be able to edit Talk:Neoboard nor this message. Somebody who has some constructive suggestions will be able to ask the admins to do the required changes. The requirement would be that the admins are ready to handle such questions. How does that sound? :)
And, uhm, the page is called so because I was thinking creating it in the MediaWiki-namespace would automatically protect it. As I see, I was mistaken. --Demon 06:27, 29 Apr 2007 (CDT)
- What, would users write on this talk page suggestions to Talk:NeoBoard and Talk:Armada, then? --Macbeth 08:39, 29 Apr 2007 (CDT)
- Wouldn't it be fine to simply protect the talk pages and mention on the talk page why they are protected? don't think we need to redirect them to this or another article for it i think. Plus, i alwats thought there was a rule of never protecting talk pages. Has it come to the point where we really need that? Should the proper protections and upgrades come about *throws snowballs at the proper party* we wouldn't need to protect those or any articles anymore, because most of the spam would be taken care of (that we've dealt with already that is). What we do till then though...*sigh* --Jacob 08:44, 29 Apr 2007 (CDT)
- @Macbeth: No, the users would come to an admin if they want something to be changed.
- @Jacob. Yes, it was supposed to be a temporary solution. But as you say that now, it would be easier to protect the talk pages. Silly me *headdesk*. Anyway, regarding the rule of never protecting talk pages: I always thought the purpose of a talk page would be to give to users the possibility to discuss about the article. As of now, it is quite stressful to do so on the respective talk pages and users might be influenced in their wish to help the Neodex if they see spam. So I think it doesnt matter whether somebody asks for changes on the relevant talk page or approaches an admin. If nobody wants to be responsible for the articles (however, I dont assume this), I can protect the talk pages and tell the users to speak with me about the articles.--Demon 11:34, 29 Apr 2007 (CDT)
