Festival of Neggs 2010

This festival took the player through a maze of caverns to a mysterious oasis.

In 2010, Kari held the first Festival of Neggs beginning on 15 March and ending on 12 April. It superseded Rosie the Grarrl's Springtime Celebration held in 2009.

Kari held a Negg hunt, giving players riddles that led them to four plastic Neggs, hidden in different worlds, and exclusive prizes. This type of activity would return in the future Festivals of Neggs. She also sent players around Neopia on four other errands to help her while she hosted the Festival.

Additionally, players could visit the Festival every day for a Negg-themed prize, and while the Festival was held, players were allowed to submit five scores each day for certain games, including Meerca Chase II, Turmac Roll, Ultimate Bullseye, and Wingoball. The NC Mall celebrated with the Neggstravaganza event.

Quests

There were two sets of quests, released alternately. The player had to retrieve plastic Neggs that Kari had hidden in certain worlds, and go on longer, protracted quests that involved visiting several locations.

If the player completed all the negg hunts and quests, they earned two bonus prizes:

Plastic Neggs

Unlike the Negg hunts in future years, the player earned a prize for each plastic Negg they found. Retrieving all the plastic Neggs earned the player all four Festival Neggs.

There was a bug associated with this hunt where, briefly, 30 March's riddle was uploaded instead of 22 March's.

Quests

The player found tunnels leading from Coltzan's Shrine to a beautiful oasis.

Kari sent the player on four quests. For the first quest, beginning on 18 March, Kari sent the player to collect ingredients for her Speckled Negg Stew. Kari didn't actually tell the player what ingredients she needed, just hinted that one of them was a fruit they could find in Brightvale. The dialogue with each character the player encountered along the way gave them hints as to what the next ingredient they needed to find was.

Next, starting on the 25 March, Kari asked the player to find a Petpet for her. She didn't know exactly what sort of Petpet she wanted, but knew it had to be agile, not messy, and useful after dark. The Spooky Petpets shopkeeper recommended a Glowing Slymook, and the player had to chase one across the Haunted Woods and Deserted Fairground before discovering that the Slymook had made its way to Kari of its own accord.

Starting on 2 April, Kari asked the player to get a cupcake recipe off of the Tooth Faerie. The Tooth Faerie had a busy itinerary that took her all over Neopia, and the player had to follow after her, finding hints as to where she went next, until they eventually caught up with her. She had been stuck in the Scourge of the Lab Jellies laboratory.

Kari wanted to go on holiday after the festival was finished, but didn't have the time to find somewhere to go. She sent the player on this task instead. They scouted out several locations, including Tyrannia and Mystery Island, before discovering a secret entrance in Coltzan's Shrine that led to a mystical and beautiful oasis.

Kari	Oh, hello there. As you can see, I am very busy with all of my preparations to make sure the Festival of Neggs is a success. I'm trying to prepare a dish, but I am simply too busy to gather the necessary ingredients. Would you take my list and round up the remaining items for me? I'll be sure to make it worth your while... You seemed like a smart Neopian. The first ingredient I'll need is a delectable fruit that can only be found in one place. You know, it's true what they say about the enlightened farming methods of King Hagan's subjects. They sure put their wisdom to good use! I don't have time to go over the rest of the ingredients, but I am sure you will figure it out along the way.	Buy a Cackleberry at Brightvale Fruits. This does not cost anything.
Brightvale Fruits Shopkeeper	Ahh, let me guess... doing a little shopping for Kari, eh? Pretty much the only time that those Cackleberries sell is when she's cooking a pot of her delicious Speckled Negg Stew. I take it you'll be heading north from here, then? After all, what's a Speckled Negg Stew without a wheel of Bubbling Snot Cheese?	Win a Gooey Snot Cheese and a Bubbling Blueberry Cheese from the Cheeseroller and then combine them in the Cooking Pot.
Jhuidah	Those ingredients that you put in my cooking pot were rather... extreme. You got them in Meridell, you say? I guess that's no surprise; they've got some pretty radical ideas about food. I have to give them credit, though - that ratio they've come up with for making stew... I believe it's x minus four, multiplied by three, where x equals the number of your vegetable of choice? Brilliant!	Play the game Extreme Potato Counter. On the first level of the game, take the number of potatoes that are show, subtract 4 from this number, and then multiply the result by three. Enter the resulting number as your guess.
Edgar Percival Clarke	Whoa, duder! These ingredients you've got are pretty gnarly! I'm sure that they'll make a most righteous stew. If you really want to crank up the heat on your recipe, there's this one dude... uh, y'know... *tilts head and, shading eyes, glances toward the sky* ...anyway, yeah - find that guy. He's got a rockin' ingredient that'll spike your taste buds! But here, take these potatoes back to Kari. She will totally need them for her awesome stew!	Go to the main page for Cellblock and click on the rightmost nostril of Galgarrath.
Galgarroth	So I see you have come for my infamous Stew Spice. The guards and I use it to help make the slop that they serve here in the dungeon edible. I imagine that if it makes our stew tolerable, it will do wonders for whatever Kari is concocting. Take it back to her, just don't upset the prisoners on your way out... Kari	I thought you would never get here! I've been waiting for those ingredients for hours. All right, let's have a look... hmm... okay... well done! It looks as though everything's here. Well, I'd better get cooking; there's hardly a moment to spare... oh, right, of course! Just a moment... here you go:

Kari	Jhudora just sent a note via her Bartamus, demanding one of my special Neggs, and that vile Petpet almost bit me! Still, it's quite clever how she has him trained to deliver messages. Maybe I should get my own Petpet to help me out... but this Negg order won't fill itself, and Jhudora doesn't like to be kept waiting. Could you go find me a Petpet? OK, I know exactly what I want. I need a Petpet that can get around the Festival easily, so it has to be agile. And sometimes I work until all hours, so make sure he can still be helpful when it's dark. One more thing: make sure he doesn't make too much of a mess. I have enough to worry about around here without having to clean up goo.	Visit Spooky Petpets
Spooky Petpets Shopkeeper	Hmmm, from your description, it sounds like Kari is looking for a glowing Slymook. They make wonderful Petpets once they are trained, which is maybe why they are so very rare. I don't often have them in stock, but maybe you will have good luck finding a wild one in the Haunted Woods. You could try catching one. Here, take this food. It might help. Glowing Slymook	You spot a wild glowing Slymook, but it scampers back into the woods before you can catch it. Its trail of slime appears to be leading here!	Spot the Slymook five times in the Haunted Woods map.
Glowing Slymook	You finally manage to grab one for more than a few seconds. You had better hang on! As you travel through the Haunted Woods on your way back to the Festival, you stumble across a book lying on the ground. As you reach down to pick it up, the Slymook wiggles out of your grasp. You see him scamper off, heading for the Deserted Fairground. That's no place for a Petpet. It can be dangerous with all of those custard pies flying around. You'd better follow him. Chia Clown	You may have managed to save the Slymook from us, but don't get too full of yourself. While you were wiping that pie off your face, I saw the Slymook slip away again. My database tells me that when they get really scared, sometimes they like to hide. I just hope that he doesn't get eaten! Muahahaha! Kari	Oh, there you are! Well, you were obviously no help to me in finding a Petpet, since this glowing Slymook scampered into my booth a short while ago. He does, however, seem to be the ideal Petpet for my purposes, so I am going to keep him. You have been gone for quite a while, so you must have been doing something. Here is a reward for your trouble.

Kari	The Tooth Faerie stopped by my booth yesterday, and we were exchanging recipes. I had just given her the recipe for my Speckled Negg Stew when we were rudely interrupted. She left without giving me her recipe, and I would very much like to make a batch of her Tooth Faerie Cupcakes, only now I don't have time to track her down. Would you go fetch the recipe for me? The Tooth Faerie was going on about all of the places that she had to visit after leaving the Festival, but I was so busy thinking about everything that I had to do, I tuned her out. I seem to remember her saying something about having to go to a place where she could see underwater but not have to go underwater, or something along those lines. Anyway, that's all I remember. Come back when you have the recipe!	Visit the Glass Bottom Boat Tours at Kiko Lake, and click on the lifebuoy ring added to one of the pictures.
Kiko	Hi there! Warm day, huh? If you're looking for the Tooth Faerie, she was here earlier. Check out these pearly whites! *wink* As for where she was heading next... gee, I can't remember what she said now. Our conversation was kind of confusing; it seemed as though we were talking in circles. We just kept going 'round and 'round... it felt like we said the same thing four times. Anywho. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Here, take this toy; it will give you something to play with as you search for her. Good luck!	Go on four Roo Island Merry Go Round rides. Each of the player's Neopets needs to ride at least once.
Merry Go Round Blumaroo	My goodness! You must really love the Merry Go Round! I've never seen such happy Neopets. Since you are one of my best customers, I think you deserve a special reward. Oh, you're looking for the Tooth Faerie? Well, after she gave me a brand-new toothbrush, she hurried off to find an expert on shells. She said she had discovered a strange new one and wanted to find out more about it. To be honest, it all sounded a bit wobbly to me.	Visit Collectible Sea Shells with at least one shell in the Stamp Album and a jelly item in the inventory.
Collectible Sea Shells Shopkeeper	Oh no, not you too! Oh wait. I saw your sea shell and jelly collections and thought you had another so-called Jelly Shell like the one that the Tooth Faerie brought me! She left it here for me to investigate its origins, but frankly, I can't figure it out. Here, take it. Maybe you can figure out what it actually is. Be sure to put it in a very safe place; otherwise, you never know what could happen to it...	Click on the link, "Jelly Shell has been added to your Inventory...?"
Swarm of Pepets	You try to put the Jelly Shell in your Safety Deposit Box for safe-keeping, but a swarm of Petpets appears out of nowhere, grabs the Jelly Shell, and stampedes off in a cloud of green dust. Just what has the Tooth Faerie gotten you into?!? Maybe you had better visit the source of this mystery!	Click the cloud of green dust at the Green Jelly in Jelly World. The player then has to navigate a jelly maze with the Neopet to find the Petpets.
Swarm of Petpets	You see the Petpets scampering off and find the Jelly Shell on the ground, a little worse for wear. It looks like it was trampled during all of the running around. Perhaps someone around here knows what's going on?	Buy an Edible Guide to Jelly World from Jelly Foods.
Jelly Foods Shopkeeper	Whoa, whoa, you've got to get out of here! There's no time for shopping. Sure, I've seen a faerie around here, but never mind that now! THE JELLIES ARE COMING!!! RUN!!!	Score at least 1,000 points in Scourge of the Lab Jellies.
The Tooth Faerie	It's a good thing you showed up! If you hadn't defeated all of those Lab Jellies, I'd still be stuck in that laboratory. Let me give you some advice: Never offer to clean the teeth of anyone working in a Jelly Lab who can't control his experiments. Now, why were you after me again? Oh, of course, the cupcake recipe! Here, let me write it down for you so you can take it back to Kari. Pardon me, but now I must get back to work!	Return to the Festival of Neggs.
Kari	There you are! Please tell me you found the Tooth Faerie. You did? Good, now I can finally make those cupcakes. Where did you finally manage to track her down, by the way? Jelly World? No really, where? Fine, you don't have to tell me. Anyway, here is your reward, as promised.

9 April

Kari	I'd really like to go on holiday after the Festival has ended, though even that is unlikely with how busy I am. I definitely won't be able to get away to do any of the scouting. Would you check out a few Neopian destinations in case I can get away for a quick trip? Also, make sure you bring me things to let me know why I should choose that location. Let's see... considering how busy I've been at the Festival, maybe it would be a nice change of pace to visit a place that is less populated, archaic even. I am also quite passionate about landscape painting. Perhaps there is a place that I can visit that will give me a little time away as well as let me enjoy some beautiful scenery. As for the rest of my possible destinations, I'm sure you can come up with a few good ideas...	Inspect the colouring pages at the Tyrannian Cave Paintings.
Tyrannian Poogle	That's quite a painting you've got there... it's for Kari, you say? I had no idea she was a patron of the arts. I have heard, however, that she's a rather sporty type. And what better place to enjoy a nice sporting event than on the beaches of Neopia. Just keep an eye out for those Turdles. Don't worry about the painting—I'll see to it that it's delivered. Exquisite Ambrosia shopkeeper	Ahh, I see you've discovered the greatest dish that Altador has to offer. 'Tis truly a delight for the taste buds—although, if I may be so frank, it does tend to grow tiresome after a few *burp* dozen servings too many. I've found, however, that after three servings of chocolate ice cream, I've usually forgotten all about the taste of Altadorian Ambrosia... Adee	As you might have imagined, I just absolutely love ice cream! To be honest with you, though, whenever I think about being trapped in that factory, it definitely makes me wish for a change of scenery... Mystical Surroundings shopkeeper	Picking up a souvenir to remind you of your time in Qasala, eh? Beats living with this sweltering heat every day, that's for sure. There's one good thing about the weather here, though-getting a nice tan isn't too difficult. Laying out, however, can be awfully dull unless you've got something to keep you entertained...	Try to buy Things To Do in Sakhmet from Sutek's Scrolls.
Sutek's Scrolls shopkeeper	That book is wonderful if you are planning a holiday in Sakhmet! Kari will definitely want to pay us a visit. Hey, wait! This just fell out of the book. Hmm... that's most unusual. This isn't something that I would ordinarily sell in my shop. It appears to be some sort of key; I wonder what it's supposed to open? Most unusual indeed...	Examine key from the player's inventory.
	Upon closer examination, you notice some very faint and worn symbols on the key that look familiar. Perhaps you should explore Neopia's lands to figure out what this key might unlock?	Click the engravings on Coltzan's Shrine in a certain order until, "A hidden door opens in the side of the shrine! Where could it lead?"
King Coltzan's Ghost	You have found the long-lost King's Key and discovered a place traversed by few. Choose your path wisely, brave Neopet. One wrong move and you could be banished to the beginning. Find the correct path, and you will enter a place that is known only by the most enlightened.	Navigate the maze of tunnels correctly. Taking the wrong passage will send the player back one junction.
King Coltzan's Ghost	Congratulations! You have discovered a mystical desert oasis hidden deep within Neopia. This will surely be the ideal destination for Kari's much deserved holiday. Please inform her of its beauty and tranquillity. You have done well. Your efforts will most certainly not go unrewarded.	Return to the Festival.
Kari	My, you have been on quite an adventure. It sounds like all of those other locations pale in comparison to this mystical desert oasis! Thank you! That is one less thing that I will have to think about myself. Before I forget, here is a reward for your efforts...

In addition to one of these daily prizes, there was a chance that players would find a Springtime Gift at the Festival - a Red Negg Plushie from 21 March, a Pink Symol from 28 March, or a random paint brush or Petpet paint brush from 4 April.

Neocash activities

In the Neggstravaganza Surprise event, players could find 20 Neggs hidden around a meadow in the NC Mall. Each one was numbered one to twenty. Every day between 11 April and 30 April, one of the numbered Neggs could be redeemed for an exclusive Neocash prize.

To collect the Neggs, players had to buy Neggstravangaza baskets. Each one allowed the player to collect one Negg. Each one could be bought for 200 NC, or in packs of 5 for 500 NC, 10 for 900 NC, or 20 for 1,700 NC.

Bug

The Edible Guide to Jelly World was initially not awarded by the 2 April quest. This was fixed, and players who did not receive it during the quest were given one afterwards, along with a Neomail explaining what had happened.
