-Noob is the conjugation of the word "Newbie", and n00b is the leet (1337) restructuring of it to take into account the zeros-for-o transformation. N00b, as opposed to "newbie" is usually used as an insult, with the intention of the subject of the term being refered to as someone who is not only new to the game but also immature and/or naieve. The term is often used to mean "stupid" for this reason.
