The '''Gospel of Matthew''' (literally: according to Matthew, Greek: Κατα Μαθθαιον ) is one of the four Gospel accounts of the New Testament. The Gospel accounts are traditionally printed with Matthew first, followed in order by '''Mark''', '''Luke''' and '''John'''.
==Overview==
For convenience, the book can be divided into its four structurally distinct sections, each of which is autonomous, without transitional passages

# Containing the genealogy, the birth, and the infancy of Jesus .
# The discourses and actions of John the Baptist preparatory to Christ's public ministry (3; 4:11).
# The discourses and actions of Christ in Galilee (4:12-20:16).
# The sufferings, death and Resurrection of Jesus (20:17-28).

The one aim pervading the book is to show that Jesus of Nazareth was the promised Messiah — he ''"of whom Moses in the law and the prophets did write"'' — and that in him the ancient prophecies had their fulfilment. This book is full of allusions to passages of the Old Testament in which Christ is supposedly predicted and foreshadowed. This Gospel contains no fewer than sixty-five references to the Old Testament, forty-three of these being direct verbal citations, thus greatly outnumbering those found in the other Gospels. The main feature of this Gospel may be expressed in the motto, ''"I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."''

This Gospel sets forth a view of Jesus as Christ, and portrays him as an heir to King David's throne.

The cast of thought and the forms of expression employed by the writer show that this Gospel was written for Jewish Christianity of Judea.

Some critics charge that some of the passages in this book are anti-Semitic, and that these passages have shaped the way that many Christians viewed Jews, especially in the Middle Ages. On the other hand, the Old Testament prophets had strong words to the Jews in terms of correction. A majority of the phrases spoken by Jesus in this gospel were worded against the major Jewish parties of the time, primarily citing them for hypocrisy and a misunderstanding of the Jewish religion. Actually, a radical Jewish sect was transforming itself into a new religion, which grew into Christianity.

==Date of Gospel==
There is little in the gospel itself to indicate the date of its composition. Some conservative scholars argue that it was written before the destruction of Jerusalem (''Matthew'' 24), probably between the years A.D. 60 and 65, but others would date it in the 70s, even as late as A.D. 85.

In regards to most recent scholarship, John Wenham is considered to be one of the more notable defenders of an early date for the gospel of Matthew. In addition, Carsten Peter Thiede in ''Eyewitness to Jesus'', argued for the redating the Magdalen papyrus and the Gospel of Matthew to before A.D. 70. His writings have been hotly contested.

== Authorship ==

The authorship of this Gospel is traditionally ascribed to St Matthew the Evangelist, a tax-collector who became an apostle of Jesus. However, most modern scholars are content to let it remain anonymous.

The relation of the gospels to one another is the subject of some debate. Most modern scholars believe that ''Matthew'' borrowed from ''Mark'' and the hypothetical Q document, but some scholars believe that ''Matthew'' was written first and that ''Mark'' borrowed from ''Matthew'' (see: Augustinian hypothesis). Out of a total of 1071 verses, Matthew has 387 in common with ''Mark'' and the ''Gospel of Luke'', 130 with ''Mark'', 184 with ''Luke''; only 387 being peculiar to itself.

Like the authors of the other gospels, the author of Matthew wrote this book according to his own plans and aims and from his own point of view, while at the same time borrowing from other sources. According to the two-source hypothesis (the most commonly accepted solution to the synoptic problem), Matthew borrowed from both Gospel of Mark and a hypothetical sayings collection, known by scholars as Q document (for the German ''Quelle'', meaning "source").

In ''The Four Gospels: A Study of Origins'' (published in 1924), Burnett Hillman Streeter argued that a third source, referred to as M and also hypothetical, lies behind the material in Matthew that has no parallel in Mark or Luke. Through the remainder of the 20th century there were various challenges and refinements of Streeter's hypothesis. For example, in his 1953 book ''The Gospel Before Mark'' Pierson Parker posited an early version of Matthew (proto-Matthew) as the primary source of both Matthew and Mark, and Q source used by Matthew.

==A Hebrew ''Gospel of Matthew''?==

There are numerous testimonies, starting from Papias and Irenaeus, that Matthew originally wrote in the Hebrew tongue, which could also refer to Aramaic. The sixteenth century Erasmus was the first to express doubts on the subject of an original Hebrew version of the Gospel of Matthew: "It does not seem probable to me that Matthew wrote in Hebrew, since no one testifies that he has seen any trace of such a volume." Here Erasmus distinguishes between a Gospel of Matthew in Hebrew and the lost apocryphal ''Gospel of the Hebrews'' and ''Gospel of the Nazoraeans'', from which patristic writers do quote. The vast majority of contemporary scholars, based on analysis of the Greek of canonical ''Gospel of Matthew'' and use of sources such as the Greek ''Gospel of Mark'', conclude that the book we have today was written originally in Greek and is not a translation from Hebrew or Aramaic (per Rev. Raymond E. Brown, ''An Introduction to the New Testament'', p. 210). If they are correct, then writers such as Clement of Alexandria, Origen, and Jerome referred to a document or documents distinct from the present Gospel of Matthew, as confirmed by the fact that Nicephorus lists the ''Gospel of Matthew'' and ''Gospel of the Hebrews'' separately in his ''Stichometry''. All of the aforementioned texts are distinct from the ''Gospel of the Ebionites'', ''Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew'', and ''Shem-Tov Matthew''.

An alternative to this conclusion is at Aramaic primacy. Ron Miller, of Lake Forest College, retranslated and wrote an extensive commentary on ''Matthew'', ''The Hidden Gospel of Matthew: Annotated and Explained'' (2004).

Of note is the phrase "Kingdom of Heaven" used so often in the gospel of Matthew, as opposed to the phrase "Kingdom of God" oftentimes used in the other gospels. It is speculated that this indicates that this particular Gospel was written to a primarily Jewish audience, as many Jewish people of the time felt the name of God was too holy to be written. The gospel, or "good news", that the Jewish Messiah had come at long last, also included the new idea that citizenship in Heaven is what would liberate the Jewish people from the unwanted rulership of pagan Rome. Jesus had said, "My kingdom is not of this world, or else my followers would be fighting", and "The kingdom of Heaven is within you", which apparently means that your soul is hidden in Heaven, and Heaven is in your soul, which contains the Holy Spirit. And the apostle Paul said, "Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?" (letter to the Corinthians)

Ok, I have seen several sites that people have said that they can hack into, or get someone elses password is this true can they do this?

Apparently so. THey do this by bypassig the section of the code which prevents people from using JavaScript. Then they put something in their page called a 'Cookie Grabber' A Cookie is an item of data which your computer uses to store data in, such as passwords. They grap the Neoepts Cookies and then they will ahve your password. The Wheel of Excitement is a wheel found in [[Faerie Land]]. Based on the wheel games of real life, one must spin it so that the pointer lands on one space of the board. You can spin it once every 2 hours, and it will cost you 150NP to do so. Depending on what it points to, you will win a prize.
* The most common prize is Neopoints. One space (?) will gain you less Neopoints than you span it, whilst other spaces such as 200NP, 1000NP and 10,000NP will get you more. If you land on 10,000NP then you will get an [[avatar].
* As well as neopoints, you can get [[Sneezles]] from the wheel, which allows you to get [[Meuka]], a [[Battledome]] challenger. On the other hand, it is also possible to be healed on the wheel.

Although once, you were granted access to their secret lair and ask them for various tasks to do their bidding, after much scandalous acts, the uber-faeries have decided that it is better that they approach a person of their choosing to do their bidding. If you have been chosen, you have been singled out by that faerie from a possible millions of [[neopians]]. Do not let the uber-faeries down for failure could mean no more requests in the future!

Who knows how many faeries really do exist. All that we neopians know is that when the need arises, they will appear to save our world and save the needy. During this era, 6 dangers has threatened the existence of the planet neopia, and 6 new faeries have revealed themselves to guard this beautiful planet. These faeries, are the guardians of neopia.

The known [[faerie]] types are listed here, with identifying characteristics and known locations (if other than [[Faerieland]].

===Queen===
A unique, purple, tall faerie with a staff. Found in Hidden Tower (if you can find it). "He He". The Faerie Queen is the rarest of all Faeries. Despite her small size she can overpower most creatures in Neopia.

===Illusen===
Illusen's Glade in [[Meridell]].
Complete her quests for fabulous prizes. Sworn nemesis of Jhudora, this earth faerie is a lover of nature and it's blessed creatures.

===Jhudora===
Jhudora's Cloud is in [[Faerieland]]. The greatest enemy of Illusen. No one knows what she is doing, but she gives out quests. Hers are harder than Illusen's, but the prizes are better at the later levels.

===Rainbow===
Rainbow Fountain in [[Neopia Central]].
Complete her quest ([[random event]]) and have your pet painted the color of your choice. She can not paint pets Royal or Baby.

===Tooth Faerie===
Seen only in [[random events]] (Or in [[Faerie Cloud Racers]]) She rewards your neopets with some neopoints or an [[avatar]] for their lost teeth.

===Battle Faerie===
Always in the battledome looking for a challenger. She will reward pets with great fighting abilities.

===Space Faerie===
Not much is known about her. She defends neopia and the space station from [[Dr. Sloth]]

===Negg Faerie===
Lives in the [[Ice Caves]] of [[Terror Mountain]]. She will give you negg tokens for your [[neggs]].

===Snow Faerie===
She lives at the peak of [[Terror Mountain]]. Occasionally, she asks for items, and will reward you for them.

Spell faeries are tiny magical creatures that live in [[Neopia]]. Meeting one is said to be very lucky indeed, as they can bless your pets with all sorts of powers and [[abilities]]. A pet must be strong enough to control the faeries spells though, so if your pet is inexperienced then the faerie may just fly away. There are many different types of faeries with differing powers, abilities and temperaments. Faeries range from the elusive [[air faerie]] to the playful [[water faeries]] that inhibit the waters, lakes and streams of [[neopia]].

Spell Faeries can be found in a number of places. Although you will rarely find a wild spell faerie (if your pet is quick enough, they may be able to catch wild faeries) because they are extremely hard to catch and need a quick and witty catcher. You will often find caught bottled up spell faeries in the magic shops and in auctions, trading posts and shops. These caught spell faeries yearn to be released back into the wild with their friends so in return, if you release them, they will grant your pet magical powers. However, if your pet is not strong enough or not experienced enough, then the faerie will not be able to bless it and will fly away.

Soup Faerie

Silverwolfleader: The soup faerie offers free food to your Neopets, anyone with under 3000 Np can get food there but if you have over that amount in Neopoints she will not serve you.

The Soup Faerie is a kind and gentle soul. Unlike the other faeries, she cares very little for her own appearance, preferring to spend her time helping the starving pets of [[Neopia]]. Any pet she comes across who is malnourished will be given free food and a warm bed until they are ready to brave the world.

==History of the Lost Desert==

There have been two plots in the history of the Lost Desert. The more recent 'Lost Desert Puzzle Plot' and the plot that lead to the introduction of the Lost Desert, '[[Brucey B]]'s War'. The former was a puzzle plot in which the aim was to negotiate through two large mazes, reading scrolls and finding faeries in order to claim a 'Mysterious Scroll'. The Wheel of Monotony is a luck-based game that can be found in the Northern Plateau of [[Tyrannia]], hosted by an engrossed Quiggle, who takes the money and helps everyone contain their excitement during the spinning of the wheel.

==The Game==

The game Wheel of Monotony comes from all the other wheel based games on the site; with one large twist. In this game, the wheel spins for a large amount of time, ranging from an hour to upto 3 hours in some rare cases. The prizes, although there is the potential for some really great ones, are generally not proportional to this difficult aspect to it.

==Glitches==

There is a known Glitch that if your internet connection temporarily flits out or you close the window whilst the wheel is spinning, then no prize will be awarded.

Mr. Insane's username on [[Neopets]] is dirtside. He is known for programming the Neopets' [[Lost Desert plot]] and it was because of this that lead Mr. Insane to registering at the [[PinkPT|PPT Forum]]. People were complaining that Neopets was releasing the clues too slow, however, he promptly informed us that the clues were already activated and that everyone was missing out on a vital clue.

Created Neopets alongside [http://www.pinkpt.com/neodex/index.php/Donna_Williams Donna]. He helped start the site and used to handle making games and coding content. He is still the head of the developers for the game. His username is borovan.

Adam visits the [[PinkPT|PPT Forum]] occasionally to interact with the users and keep tabs on how the populace view new features. He even sometimes lets the users see features before they are released!

Often when he comes, he takes on board user suggestions on how to improve the website.
