====Rescue Ginny's Bike====
While [[Ginny]] was out on her new bike, the [[Pant Devil]] snuck up on her and stole it from her. Ginny went to Judge Hog for help in defeating the Pant Devil, who was soon after caught and defeated by someone within Defenders of Neopia, and Ginny's bike was returned.

You can find the Pant Devil when he steals something from you in a [[Random Event]], or by landing on him on the [[Wheel of Excitement]].

====Neohome Nightmare====
A [[Chia]] and his [[Tigermouse]] named Squeaky move into a haunted [[Neohome]] at 131 Soup Alley in [[Neopia Central]]. Later that night, objects began floating into air and attacking them, and then the [[Ghost Lupe]] appeared, chasing them out of the Neohome. They ran to the Defenders of Neopia Headquarters to get help and soon after the Ghost Lupe was caught in a ghost trap.

====Kidnapped!====
A [[Kacheek]] and an [[Aisha]] are hiking the recently discovered [[Tyrannia]], and the Aisha spots a cave. The Kacheek dares the Aisha to go in, and the Aisha dares the Kacheek back and he accepts. As they enter, a [[Cave Chia]] spots them after they almost fall over an edge. Feeling they are being watched, the Aisha wants to leave, but the Kacheek insists on continuing. They are both caught by the Cave Chia and hung in a cage high above the ground. Televised news reports they have gone missing and Judge Hog calls forth the Defenders of Neopia, finding and capturing the Cave Chia, saving the Neopets.

====Meuka Attacks!====
[[Meuka]] was hungry and decided to explore after finding no [[food]] in the [[Haunted Woods]], finding a local village. The villagers ran in fear, but the more Meuka ate, the more mucus he created, trapping the Neopets in it. Judge Hog sends [[Sergeant Brexis]] and the defenders of Neopia to help, and defeated Meuka in time.

====The Brain Tree's Bad Day====
A [[Krawk]] and [[Usul]] are lost in the [[Haunted Woods]] looking for the [[Brain Tree]]. Tired and cold, they eventually find him but before they can complete their quest, the Brain Tree suddenly attacks and grabs them. A passing [[Nimmo]] hears their cries and calls the Defenders for help.

To fight the [[Brain Tree]] complete one of his quests.

====It's a Trap!====
Captain K was flying back from another successful mission when he noticed a small planetoid giving off life readings even though it has no atmosphere. He decides to investigate not knowing that this was all a trap set up by [[Commander Garoo]]. News of Captain K's kidnapping reaches the Defenders and they quickly set off to rescue him.

====The Tiki Curse====
The Masked Intruder and the Marvellous Stretchy Chia are investigating a case around Mystery Island which concerns a villain named "Tekkitu the Witch Doctor". Unbeknownst to them, they are being spied by Tekkitu. The Masked Intruder finds a small hut in the vicinity and looks around. He find a wand that Judge Hog described as a "Mind Control Stick". Tekkitu shows up and snatches the wand away. He mind-controls the Masked Intruder and orders him to attack the Marvellous Stretchy Chia.

After Tekkitu is defeated, The Masked Intruder is released from the spell.

The DoN recevied a call for help from Neopia Central when [[Mr. Chuckles]] began to attack. Already on a path through there, Judge Hog went alone against Mr. Chuckles, whose weapons weren't effective against Judge Hog as dodged. Judge Hog mocked him as a wanna-be villain, and Mr. Chuckles retaliated with a flurry cream pies, which hit [[Neopian]]s and turn them into clowns under his control, which hold Judge Hog down as Mr. Chuckles knocks him unconscious. Judge hog wakes up hours later hanging upsidedown, about to be fed to monstrous Noils in Chuckles hideout.

To find Mr. Chuckles, users you had to ask [[Sidney]] where he went, and find he went to [[Arnold ]] at [[Test Your Strength]], who said he went off to [[Coconut Shy]]. After searching the area, Mr. Chuckles' lair was found, and users were able to save Judge Hog.

Gross food is a special type of food that you dont see too much of in the regular shops. However, they can be obtained in many different ways, like in the dailies. Due to their easy to get nature, gross foods are often extremely cheap, especially on the shop wizard. An odd quirk is that when searched, gross foods do not have a "see if this item is in stock" or "find this item in the shop wizard" sign. But dont let that deter you from getting one if you need it (may be a kitchen quest requirement). You will usually find these under 100 np in peoples' shops. If you feed your Neopet with Gross Food, they will gross out, saying gross words such as "Yuck!" of "That was horrible :(".

Gourmet foods are expensive foods that count for the [[Gourmet Club]]. Gourmet foods that a pet has eaten are automatically kept track of. Pets that have eaten the most gourmet food get a trophy or an honorary member card on their user page.

'''Maraqua''' is an underwater land discovered on October 6, 2000. The name is given to two underwater kingdoms, one of which was destroyed and is currently in ruins. In order to distinguish between the two cities, the historic city is referred to as ''Old Maraqua'' and the modern ''New Maraqua''. Maraqua is not the only underwater settlement, but it is the only salt water one as of yet discovered.

Was destroyed by a whirlpool on August 18, 2001, following a flash movie released the previous day (17th August 2001) in which the Pirate [[Captain Dread]], a skeletal [[Kiko]], sailed to Maraqua in a submarine known in fanlore as ''The Revenge''. Here, he demanded his annual 'protection money' from the then King Koi, who refused to pay (giving reasons such as a 'poor Kelp Harvest'). From the tone of this conversation, it can be presumed that Captain Dread regularly came for this money. The whirlpool is believed to be the result of a curse from this Pirate. The whirlpool, said to be ten miles wide, lasted until the 31st May 2002, where is finally subsided to reveal the Ruins of Maraqua.

===Attractions of the Original Maraqua===
Maraqua once housed the Underwater [[Kitchen Quest]]s, later relocated to [[Mystery Island]], and was the sole supplier of [[Utility Fish]], which are now all retired and very expensive. [[TNT]] stated once that they originally planned for Utility Fish to be used as [[NeoHome]] utilities. Maraqua also sold Aquatic [[PetPet]]s (most of which were [[Old Neopets|redesigned]] and are being sold on Mystery Island). The Aquatic Foods Shop also disappeared, retiring the shop items, only to be replaced by [[The Kelp]] in New Maraqua, with new foods.

After the whirlpool ruined the city, the Ruins began to be populated again, first by a gigantic [[Slug Monster]], then by a [http://www.neopets.com/water/statue.phtml Mysterious Statue] (believed to be of the [[Darkest Faerie]]), then by a Bubbling Pit (listing all the available Maraqua-coloured Neopets), then by an [[Underwater Fishing]] area. The discovery and open trade with New Maraqua has promoted people re-entering the ruins, and it remains to be seen whether more will be made of this area.

==New Maraqua==
After the whirlpool destroyed the original city, [[King Kelpbeard]] set about building a new, more splendid city, with a strong army to protect it from its enemies. However, information of this was learnt by an armada of pirates, who set out to [[Curse of Maraqua|conquer the nation]].

As part of the [[Curse of Maraqua]] plot, Maraqua was rebuilt with the intention of being stronger than its predecessor so as to withstand any future Pirate attacks. New Maraqua has a standing army lead by [[Swordmaster Talek]], something Old Maraqua didn't appear to have. When [[Captain Scarblade]] learned that there were surviving [[Maraquan]]s, he lead another attack (this time with an army of pirates). They were fought off, however, in the plot.

===Maractite===
The Curse of Maraqua plot introduced the mineral [[maractite]], capable of travelling effortlessly through water as though it was in air. Information provided in the CoM plot suggests that supplies of maractite are running thin. According to the ''Maractite Axe'' card (of the [[Neopets TCG]]), maractite slowly decays when exposed to air.

===Attractions of New Maraqua===
In addition to having shops selling [[Maractite Weaponry|maractite weaponry]] and [[furniture]], Maraqua is also the sole supplier of collectable [[Sea Shells]]. There is a shop selling Maraquan PetPets, although, interestingly, none of the PetPets that were sold in Old Maraqua and now Mystery Island are being sold.

The restaurant [[Kelp]], much like the [[Golden Dubloon]] on [[Krawk Island]], sells highly priced meals, and an avatar is obtainable from it. It is frequently very busy, making entering the restaurant difficult.

==Maraquan Architecture==
Visually, Old Maraqua's structure was very different from New Maraqua's. Old Maraqua was built out of ''transparashield'', and had the look of a futuristic ocean colony. The smooth, bubble-like windows seemed to imply that there was an atmosphere inside the buildings. New Maraqua has a very coral-like appearance, is made out of [[Maractite]], and is open to the oceans.

==Plot Replacements==
In the [[Curse of Maraqua]] plot, several replacements were made to the characters from the original destruction movie. [[Captain Dread]] was replaced with [[Captain Scarblade]], Captain Dread's unnamed sidekick [[Blumaroo]] was replaced with [[Benny the Blade]], [[King Koi]] was replaced with [[King Kelpbeard]], and ''The Revenge'' submarine with a boat of the same name.

The original destruction movie was removed after the Curse of Maraqua ([http://www.neopets.com/pirates/maraqua.phtml the page it was found on] now only redirects to the [http://www.neopets.com/aboutus.phtml About Us] page) due to these inconsistencies, but the movie file [http://images.neopets.com/pirates/maraqua.swf still exists] on the servers.

==Yooyuball==
Maraqua's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team could be described as "a house divided," due to the antics of their star forward [[Elon Hughlis]] is more concerned with his personal accomplishments than actual wins and losses, making him a headache to the team. He looks down on his teammates who aren't as talented as him, and they endure him due to his tremendous ability. Maraqua would love to trade Hughlis to another team, but no other team would give them as equal a player in return.

After getting beaten in the first round of [[Altador Cup 2006]], fans thought Maraqua would cut its losses and get rid of Elon Hughlis. When it became apparent that Hughlis wasn't leaving, free agent forward [[Jair Tollet]] accepted an offer from [[Roo Island]]. Considering Hughlis insisted on scoring most of the team's goals, Maraqua decided having three defenders in the lineup worked best for them, adding hefty defence man [[Oten Runeu]] to their starting unit. As a result, Maraqua now has one of the toughest squads in Neopia to score against.

'''Petpets''' (sometimes ''PetPets'') are pets for a user's [[Neopet]]. A class of [[items]] created on September 27, 2000, they can be attached to a Neopet much like [[Battledome Equipment]]. Most Petpets can be purchased in official Neopian [[shops]], but some are gained only by other activities, such as using the [[Cooking Pot]].

For a long time, Petpets could not be painted, but this was changed on October 2, 2001 with the introduction of the [[Petpet Paint Brush]], which is used at the [[Petpet Puddle]]. Later, on August 3, 2005, the [[Petpet Lab Ray]] was introduced. Like the Neopet [[Lab Ray]], the Petpet equivalent can alter a Petpet's [[colour]] and other statistics, such as species, level and name. The Petpet even has a chance of being completely destroyed.

A Petpet can also gain levels at the [[Petpet Battledome]] and by waking the [[Turmaculus]], but its levels will not be retained if the Petpet is ever removed from its Neopet. '''Maraqua''' is an underwater land discovered on October 6, 2000. The name is given to two underwater kingdoms, one of which was destroyed and is currently in ruins. In order to distinguish between the two cities, the historic city is referred to as ''Old Maraqua'' and the modern ''New Maraqua''. Maraqua is not the only underwater settlement, but it is the only salt water one as of yet discovered.

Was destroyed by a whirlpool on August 18, 2001, following a flash movie released the previous day (17th August 2001) in which the Pirate [[Captain Dread]], a skeletal [[Kiko]], sailed to Maraqua in a submarine known in fanlore as ''The Revenge''. Here, he demanded his annual 'protection money' from the then King Koi, who refused to pay (giving reasons such as a 'poor Kelp Harvest'). From the tone of this conversation, it can be presumed that Captain Dread regularly came for this money. The whirlpool is believed to be the result of a curse from this Pirate. The whirlpool, said to be ten miles wide, lasted until the 31st May 2002, where is finally subsided to reveal the Ruins of Maraqua.

===Attractions of the Original Maraqua===
Maraqua once housed the Underwater [[Kitchen Quest]]s, later relocated to [[Mystery Island]], and was the sole supplier of [[Utility Fish]], which are now all retired and very expensive. [[TNT]] stated once that they originally planned for Utility Fish to be used as [[NeoHome]] utilities. Maraqua also sold Aquatic [[PetPet]]s (most of which were [[Old Neopets|redesigned]] and are being sold on Mystery Island). The Aquatic Foods Shop also disappeared, retiring the shop items, only to be replaced by [[The Kelp]] in New Maraqua, with new foods.

After the whirlpool ruined the city, the Ruins began to be populated again, first by a gigantic [[Slug Monster]], then by a [http://www.neopets.com/water/statue.phtml Mysterious Statue] (believed to be of the [[Darkest Faerie]]), then by a Bubbling Pit (listing all the available Maraqua-coloured Neopets), then by an [[Underwater Fishing]] area. The discovery and open trade with New Maraqua has promoted people re-entering the ruins, and it remains to be seen whether more will be made of this area.

==New Maraqua==
After the whirlpool destroyed the original city, [[King Kelpbeard]] set about building a new, more splendid city, with a strong army to protect it from its enemies. However, information of this was learnt by an armada of pirates, who set out to [[Curse of Maraqua|conquer the nation]].

As part of the [[Curse of Maraqua]] plot, Maraqua was rebuilt with the intention of being stronger than its predecessor so as to withstand any future Pirate attacks. New Maraqua has a standing army lead by [[Swordmaster Talek]], something Old Maraqua didn't appear to have. When [[Captain Scarblade]] learned that there were surviving [[Maraquan]]s, he lead another attack (this time with an army of pirates). They were fought off, however, in the plot.

===Maractite===
The Curse of Maraqua plot introduced the mineral [[maractite]], capable of travelling effortlessly through water as though it was in air. Information provided in the CoM plot suggests that supplies of maractite are running thin. According to the ''Maractite Axe'' card (of the [[Neopets TCG]]), maractite slowly decays when exposed to air.

===Attractions of New Maraqua===
In addition to having shops selling [[Maractite Weaponry|maractite weaponry]] and [[furniture]], Maraqua is also the sole supplier of collectable [[Sea Shells]]. There is a shop selling Maraquan PetPets, although, interestingly, none of the PetPets that were sold in Old Maraqua and now Mystery Island are being sold.

The restaurant [[Kelp]], much like the [[Golden Dubloon]] on [[Krawk Island]], sells highly priced meals, and an avatar is obtainable from it. It is frequently very busy, making entering the restaurant difficult.

==Maraquan Architecture==
Visually, Old Maraqua's structure was very different from New Maraqua's. Old Maraqua was built out of ''transparashield'', and had the look of a futuristic ocean colony. The smooth, bubble-like windows seemed to imply that there was an atmosphere inside the buildings. New Maraqua has a very coral-like appearance, is made out of [[Maractite]], and is open to the oceans.

==Plot Replacements==
In the [[Curse of Maraqua]] plot, several replacements were made to the characters from the original destruction movie. [[Captain Dread]] was replaced with [[Captain Scarblade]], Captain Dread's unnamed sidekick [[Blumaroo]] was replaced with [[Benny the Blade]], [[King Koi]] was replaced with [[King Kelpbeard]], and ''The Revenge'' submarine with a boat of the same name.

The original destruction movie was removed after the Curse of Maraqua ([http://www.neopets.com/pirates/maraqua.phtml the page it was found on] now only redirects to the [http://www.neopets.com/aboutus.phtml About Us] page) due to these inconsistencies, but the movie file [http://images.neopets.com/pirates/maraqua.swf still exists] on the servers.

==Yooyuball==
Maraqua's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team could be described as "a house divided," due to the antics of their star forward [[Elon Hughlis]] is more concerned with his personal accomplishments than actual wins and losses, making him a headache to the team. He looks down on his teammates who aren't as talented as him, and they endure him due to his tremendous ability. Maraqua would love to trade Hughlis to another team, but no other team would give them as equal a player in return.

After getting beaten in the first round of [[Altador Cup 2006]], fans thought Maraqua would cut its losses and get rid of Elon Hughlis. When it became apparent that Hughlis wasn't leaving, free agent forward [[Jair Tollet]] accepted an offer from [[Roo Island]]. Considering Hughlis insisted on scoring most of the team's goals, Maraqua decided having three defenders in the lineup worked best for them, adding hefty defence man [[Oten Runeu]] to their starting unit. As a result, Maraqua now has one of the toughest squads in Neopia to score against.
