A [[Chia]] and his [[Tigermouse]] named Squeaky move into a haunted [[Neohome]] at 131 Soup Alley in [[Neopia Central]]. Later that night, objects began floating into air and attacking them, and then the [[Ghost Lupe]] appeared, chasing them out of the Neohome. They ran to the Defenders of Neopia Headquarters to get help and soon after the Ghost Lupe was caught in a ghost trap.

====Kidnapped!====

As they enter, a [[Cave Chia]] spots them after they almost fall over an edge. Feeling they are being watched, the Aisha wants to leave, but the Kacheek insists on continuing. They are both caught by the Cave Chia and hung in a cage high above the ground. Televised news reports they have gone missing and Judge Hog calls forth the Defenders of Neopia, finding and capturing the Cave Chia, saving the Neopets.

====Meuka Attacks!====
[[Meuka]] was hungry and decided to explore after finding no [[food]] in the [[Haunted Woods]], finding a local village. Captain K was flying back from another successful mission when he noticed a small planetoid giving off life readings even though it has no atmosphere. He decides to investigate not knowing that this was all a trap set up by [[Commander Garoo]]. News of Captain K's kidnapping reaches the Defenders and they quickly set off to rescue him.

Tekkitu shows up and snatches the wand away. He mind-controls the Masked Intruder and orders him to attack the Marvellous Stretchy Chia.

After Tekkitu is defeated, The Masked Intruder is released from the spell.

The DoN received a call for help from Neopia Central when [[Mr. Chuckles]] began to attack. Already on a path through there, Judge Hog went alone against Mr. Chuckles, whose weapons weren't effective against Judge Hog. Judge Hog mocked him as a wanna-be villain, and Mr. Chuckles retaliated with a flurry cream pies, which hit [[Neopian]]s and turn them into clowns under his control. They hold Judge Hog down as Mr. Chuckles knocks him unconscious. Judge hog wakes up hours later hanging upside-down, about to be fed to monstrous Noils in Chuckles hideout.

To find Mr. Chuckles, users had to first ask [[Sidney]], then [[Arnold]] and lastly [[Leeroy]] in order to find Mr. Chunkles' lair.

However, he can now be found by simply refreshing at the [[Coconut Shy]].

====Somewhere in the Lost Desert...====
The story opens up with a [[Mynci]] archeologist in an ancient tomb, about to complete his lifelong dream of finding a mysterious mummy. He opens the golden sarcophagus the mummy is in, revealing the main villain, [[Eyrieki]]. As the Mynci opens the lid, though, he notices an inscription which he reads. This causes Eyrieki to suddenly come to life, who promptly bursts out of the pyramid by smashing through a stone wall. Once he gets out, Eyrieki begins to cause havoc to market stands in [[Sakhmet]].

Back at the Defender's HQ, [[Judge Hog]] calls in [[Lightning Lenny]] and gives him the mission of taking down the undead Eyrie terrorizing Sakhmet. Lightning Lenny zooms off to the desert city after Judge Hog is finished talking to him, and confronts Eyrieki. The two fight for a short while before Lightning Lenny runs back to the tomb where Eyrieki was released to find an answer to defeat him for good. Eyrieki, however, catches up to him and blows sleeping dust on the Lenny Defender, just as he figures out the answer.

====Near Hubert's Hot Dog Stand...====
The comic opens up as a normal day in [[Neopia Central]]. Two kids notice [[Kasuki Lu]] standing near [[Hubert]]'s hot dog stand. They eagerly approach the Chia, but, as they begin to talk, Kasuki Lu stomps past them and pushes his way to the hot dog cart, which he lifts up and shakes out the hot dogs. He breaks the stand and then heads toward the [[Battle Magic]] shop.

Meanwhile, [[Mammoth]] is helping some store owners move their stores. He gets a call from [[Judge Hog]], who informs him of Kasuki Lu's rampage. Mammoth expresses his disbelief, but agrees to go after the crazed Chia, despite the fact that he had been a childhood hero of his. Mammoth soon arrives at the place where Kasuki Lu is causing havoc and tries to talk some sense to him, which ultimately fails. They briefly wrestle against each other, and Mammoth prepares to punch Kasuki Lu. However, he hesitates, and Kasuki Lu takes advantage of it to toss Mammoth.

On the third day of the month, every shop in Neopia, with the exception of the Hidden Tower, General Store, Neohome Superstore, Igloo Garage Sale, Smuggler's Cove and Little Nippers, sells their items at half price. This starts and ends at midnight Neopian Standard time.
It is a great time to restock items, as at this time, greater profits can be made.
However, on this day, there is generally a lot more competition so click quick!

I just went to the Snowager, since I saw that it happened to be asleep, but, when he blasted me and my active pet (not all), my pets managed to hold on to one HP. '''Darigan Citadel''', which floats in the air thanks to many engines of an unknown mechanism, was once part of its own land of plenty, until King Skarl's knights stole a magical orb that kept the kingdom prosperous. The Citadel came to the [[Meridell]] region as part of the ''[[Champions of Meridell]]'' plot to wage war on King Skarl and his kingdom. During this time, the Citadel was ruled by [[Lord Darigan]], who vanished at the end of the plot. [[Lord Kass]] took over in Lord Darigan's absence and waged a second war against Meridell from above as part of the ''[[Battle for Meridell]]'' plot, during which time it was know as 'Kass Citadel'. Darigan returned and took back his kingdom in the course of the plot.

Attractions include the [[Darigan Toys]] shop and the [[Petpet Battledome]], along with the fortress' many dungeons and the [[Cellblock|games]] that have developed in them.

Darigan's Yooyuball team have few major weaknesses, although they have been criticized in the past for playing too easy a schedule during the regular season, and as a result are unprepared when the tournament comes. To fix this, Darigan Citadel relented and added more matches against a few of the better teams for the 2006 season. Due to this they didn't finish as high in the standings as they normally did, but it gave them the toughness to play in the games which mattered the most (or at least this is what the fans hoped). Their tactic paid off, and they managed to place 2nd in the [[Altador Cup]], ending their reputation as post-season underachievers.

Rather than rest, however, the Citadel's team made an upgrade for the ''Goalkeeper'', replacing the less-than-mobile [[Mungo Lifler]] with promising netminder [[Reshar Collifey]] for the 2007 season. And due to the success of the previous year's tactic, Darigan again faced a string of difficult teams for their regular schedule. Darigan was from the start considered the favourite of the [[Altador Cup 2007|2007 Altador Cup]], maintaining a position at the top of the leader-board for the round robin. In the finals it faced off against [[Roo Island#Yooyuball|Roo Island]]'s team and finally won the Cup on July 9th.

It also features an editorial by actual Neopets staff members, which answers user submitted questions about Neopets. Originally featuring only a few articles, the Neopian Times has become a large weekly project filled with user-submitted articles, stories and comics. There are 4 categories users can enter their submissions into: Articles, Short Stories, Comics and Series:

''Articles'' acts as an information source. Users may either submit non-fiction writing to teach other users about a certain aspect of Neopets such as auctions or stamp collecting, or to give tips on playing the games. Articles can also contain fictitious news coverage of Neopia or interviews with notable Neopian characters such as the Soup Faerie, the Island Mystic or even [http://www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=67978&issue=185 Sloth's Mom]! Articles are between 1,000 and 50,000 words long.

''Short Stories'' contain Neopets-themed short stories on a range of different topics (comedy, adventure, horror, etc.). Stories can be about anything the user chooses so long as it is Neopets-themed and stays within the guidelines of the Neopian Times. Short stories are between 1200 and 4000 words long.

''Comics'' contain pictures or art drawn/animated by users depicting Neopets situations, usually containing jokes or a serious plot line. Users can also submit other forms of art besides pictures, such as photos of Neopets merchandise or [[Wikipedia:Adobe Flash|Adobe Flash]] animation. Comics are accepted in [[Wikipedia:GIF|GIF]] and [[Wikipedia:JPEG|JPEG]] format, ranging 470 pixels in width and 200 [[Wikipedia:Kilobyte|KB]] in file size.

The final category users can submit to is ''Series'', which can be the most difficult. A series is a fictional story too long to be a short story (more than 4000 words) which must be told over a series of parts. When a new series is submitted into the Neopian Times, it features in the "continued series" section in the following week's Neopian Times until its final part is published. Series average 6-8 parts with a limit of 12 parts (The Neopets Team limits the number so other authors will have a chance to be published, although there was no limit at the beginning), each part can be from 1,500 to a maximum of 50,000 words. A user can't have two series stories being serialized at the same time. A short (two- or three-part) series can also be used to tell a story that is too long to be a short story.

Along with all the user-submitted content, users can ask questions of The Neopets Team through the ''Editorial''. Questions that are picked are said to be random, but are sometimes picked by the TNT if it's something they're being asked often or they think it should be answered. Questions from game play, real-life merchandise, rules of playing Neopets, suggestions. Questions that include a joke or praise of Neopets are often chosen but all the answers give some insight to Neopets. The Editorial is perhaps the most popular feature of the Neopian Times, due to the fact TNT is directly interacting with the community and valuable information can be gained.

==Appearance==
Over the years the Neopian Times has gone through many appearance changes. The [http://images.neopets.com/nt first few issues appearance] had a banner of a man and a woman in 80's style with the text "For an easier life". Users could send in short stories, series and comics (comics section didn't appear until a later date). Pages still exist, but the links to the stories and comics don't work any more.

The second version was released on ''(need date)'' and was made out of tables. While continuing to showcase stories, an official comics section was introduced in issue 57. This version also had a ''[[Guild]] Spotlight'', showcasing certain guilds on Neopets, but was stopped in issue ?, around the same time the banner was replaced with a gold engraving of a [[Jubjub]] reading the Neopian Times. A ''Quote of The Week'' was added, which quoted a line of text out of a story in that issue, along with a sidebar on the right which contained direct links to stories/comics, saving the user time by not having to search for individual stories in their own sections. Also, if a user was reading an article with a certain character in it that was in another one that issue, a direct link to it would appear on the sidebar as well. the buttons used to navigate the sections were made smaller, and the banner with the Jubjub was now changed to how many Neopians had read the Neopian Times instead of just saying 12,500,000.

The [http://www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml most recent version] is similar to the third design, but it is easier to navigate (The featured stories on the front page are in a blue table for example). The navigation buttons were replaced with text and a random caption was posted on the left under the banner. The banner reads ''The Neopian Times'' with a blue quill on each side.

The rules and guidelines for entering into the Neopian Times are strict, due to the fact the TNT can't control user-submitted content but must make sure the content is family-friendly for the world to read. The main rule to always follow is to keep all entries Neopets-themed. From there, content must follow the basic rules which all users must follow while playing the website: No highly intimate material such as dating/kissing, violence inappropriate to younger audiences, real-life or fictional religion in Neopia, crude or disgusting Neopet behaviour, Neopets acting like real-life animals (e.g. eating out of dog bowls), hybrid species (two different species combined into one, unless it's [http://images.neopets.com/games/tradingcards/154.gif created] by The Neopets Team), or real-life family dilemmas (parents in a custody battle over a child). Users also can't write about the sponsor products which are featured on Neopets, even if Neopets are shown interacting with them. Articles speaking the rules and guidelines of Neopets are also prohibited, along with articles taking place inside [[Jelly World]], due to the continued joke of TNT saying it does not exist. Stories and series that break the [[Wikipedia:Fourth wall|fourth wall]] are frowned on, but references to avatars or games are allowed if they do not. In contrast, articles and comics often use the fact of Neopets being a website for humorous or other purposes.

One of the more difficult topics to write about in the Neopian Times is the users themselves, and how they are presented in the world of Neopets. Users who write about themselves as the owners of their Neopets is the most common and allowed form - many users portray this, but what they are as a species makes it more complicated. Female users can easily say they are faeries, while male users cannot as there are no and will be no male faeries in Neopets. However a user presents themselves or humans in general in the Neopian Times, they must always make their writing or art Neopets-themed, and never include real-life times and places such as speaking of the planet Earth (and its solar system) or about humans' origin in Neopia.

There are some plot devices which are debatable in terms of having them enter into the Neopian Times, one of the most common being the appearance of technology (cars, planes, computers, radios, phones, television, video games). Many of these items make appearances in the website and not just as sponsor material. [[The Space Station]] also has a large amount of technology which can be made available to the rest of Neopia. Characters such as [[Nigel]] drive a car (a [[Wikipedia:Ferrari|Ferrari]] no less), [[Brucey B]] was called on the phone during [[Brucey B and the Lucky Coin]], and games such as [[Skies Over Meridell]] and [[The Return of the Return of Dr.Sloth]] show flying devices have been created on the planet of Neopia.

The mortality of Neopets is also an issue, because while user Neopets cannot die, those in [[plot]]s can, making death an almost taboo subject to write about. Action scenes where Neopets are under constant threat of death (or excessive violence in general) may be rejected, despite the fact that many Neopets plots contain similar situations. The dead Neopets themselves also cause concern, as they can become zombies who wish to eat other's brains or become a [[Ghost]]. While what happens to the dead is mostly a taboo subject in Neopets, it was a major topic in [[The Tale of Woe]], which not only dealt with the graves of dead Neopets but also included communication with long-dead spirits.

Many authors argue, however, that death is not as touchy a subject in the Neopian Times as one may think. ==Rewards list vs. seperate articles==
Yesterday i made a move with battledome Equipment relating to the [[Giant Ghostkerchief]], placing them in it's own article rather than making them seperate ones. I don't know if this is a smart move or not, but is seems proper, being they are really its' weapons, and don't really fit anywhere else (especially an article of their own). so, i was thinking about doing the same here as well, and redirect all the data from articles which are won from Illusen's Quest here on Illusen's page, as the description of her quest is here.

I'm just looking for feedback on moves such as this, as it seems to make sense to me, but would mean doing the same action to a few (many?) other articles, including Jhudora's Quest, but maybe not so far as redirecting the data of Scarab Ring to the Lost desert Scratchcards article (which still hasn't been created actually). :I think this was answered in an editorial before, but will try my best to answer myself: Outright there is nothing wrong with it, but for future sake i would say you change this. One, if you share things back and forth, it may be viewed as making a profit on a side account. Also, sharing an email for two seperate accounts is never smart, because another person may need to change a password or something, and the other may steal it, or delete the email address, or something else. it's wise for each of you to get different emails forthe both of you. do so as fast as you can.

Users create multiple accounts (to a maximum of 5) for many reason: they want to try a new username, own different [[Neopet]]s, want to become part of another [[guild]], boredom, or many other reasons. Having multiple accounts is allowed, but can be difficult at times due to the many actions the user must refrain from, or have one or more of their accounts suspended or [[frozen]], due to the fact having multiple accounts can give a user an unfair advantage over other users.

Of the 5 accounts a user is allowed to log into on a daily basis, only one is to be their ''main account'', i.e. to gain [[Neopoints]] from or any profit of any kind. This account can gain Neopoints from [[games]], collect [[items]] from the [[dailies]], have a [[shop]], participate in voting activities and all other profitable activities.

The other 4 accounts, called ''side accounts'', are used for [[guilds]], [[galleries]], item storage, and extra Neopets. No Neopoint gaining games can be played by this account, or dailies (except the [[Healing Springs]] or the [[Soup Kitchen]]) or other profitable activities. Neopoints and items can be transferred to side accounts from the main account or other side accounts (all of which should be same e-mail address as the main account) to help the user feed their Neopets, create a gallery or gain access to the [[Lab Ray]], but the side accounts are to never give items to the main account for means of a profit.

If the user is the leader of a guild, they may use 1 of the 5 accounts as a ''guild account'' (naming it as such as well), which can own a shop for the guild activities. This account cannot earn Neopoints in any manner other than through the store, auctions and trades. Users can only have one guild account for a guild, and actions taken on a guild account can affect the users other accounts).

Users also cannot share or play another users account as a favor while they are on vacation for a long time or for other such reasons. This gains a profit for the real user while away and is seen as gaining an advantage over other users, making it a freezable offense. This rule is also in effect for the users safety, as an argument between account sharers could result in one of them to change the accounts email and password, taking credit of all the work put into the account.

While the rules of having multiple accounts are fairly simple, there are situations which can cause confusion and have TNT take action against users who may look like they are breaking rules, but aren't. Users who share one computer and all have separate accounts is a good example, because to one who doesn't know the living situations, it could look like a user was making a profit off of many different accounts, especially if those users share items with each other. Even if all the users have different emails, it would still require TNT to investigate each account. Some users put notes to TNT on their profiles saying that they share a computer, but these do no good, as cheaters would be very likely to do the same.

==Plot summary==
Following the same medieval and "in the past" feel, users control the role of [[Rohane]] who is presented as the son of a knight in [[Trestin]] of [[Meridell]], but in actuallity is a captain of a spaceship, and stuck in a hologram simulation. While playing, Rohane travels through 4 other lands ([[Terror Mountain]], The [[Lost Desert]], The [[Haunted Woods]], and [[Faerieland]]) meeting his other crew members ([[Mipsy]], [[Talinia]], and [[Velm]]) along the way, who are locked within simulation booths as well. Together, they try to regain control of the hijacked space ship.

===Chapter 1===
[[Ramtor]], [[King Skarl]]'s advisor, takes the throne of [[Meridell]] from him and puts him in his tower's dungeon, and slowly begins to take over the land. In [[Trestin]], Rohane notices this change in the land and decides to head out on an adventure with his Father's sword. Along the way he encounters his shipmate Mipsy and adds her to his party.

Rohane arrives in [[Terror Mountain]], where the paths across the mountain become clogged with snow, making it difficult to traverse, and monsters are swarming all the passes. After defeating [[Leximp]] and helping a city of [[Chia]]s, he runs into [[Talinia]], who joins him. After defeating [[Kolvars]] they eventually come to the [[Snowager]], who was trapped by [[Scuzzy]]. After defeating Scuzzy the [[Snowager]] is released, and he's revealed to be the overseer program and, and the snow the clogged data routes of the space ships computer.

===Chapter 3===
A sandstorm rages in the [[Lost Desert]], and [[Princess Vyssa]] seeks a relic, the Medallion of the Wind, designed to control the weather. After locating the pieces of the device, it must be taken to Zakharukh's Pyramid, for the weather to be restored.

===Chapter 4===
Rohane appears in the [[Haunted Woods]], where a spell has been cast on the sun, keeping it stuck in the sky all day long, making it difficult for the residents as ghosts began to live in their houses, and keeing other such creatures in seclusion. Residents of [[Shadow Gulch]] say it was [[Count Von Roo]] who cast the spell on the sun, but it turns out he was trying to cast a counter-spell, and was being held hostage by [[Meuka]]. After they defeated him, the Count explained [[Balthazar]], [[Hubrid Nox]], and the [[Spider Grundo]] worked in collaboration to cast the real spell. After defeating each of them, it was found they were all held under control by a spell from [[Edna]].

After defeating the [[Esophagor]] which blocked the path to Edna, Rohane confronted her about the curse, and she said she was trying to keep the sun down, but messed up, possibly from too much ''[[Kadoatie]] Fur''. When asked if she could reverse the spell, she said no and dropped her ruse, revealing herself to one one of the AI in the ship's computer. The spell was meant to slow down the virus, but having got it backwards, the virus was more powerful than ever.

Mipsy then figured out how to access the ships computer through the simulator, and discovered they were not far from the sun, and a new simulation of [[Faerieland]] opened up, which could be seen through the clouds. Taliania noticed there was something wrong with it, and Edna wished them luck, and told them to hurry as there wasn't much time left.

===Chapter 5===
Coming into [[Faerieland]], Rohane and company discovered it was overrun by mercenaries and monsters after The Dark Faeries rebelled. Many of the cloud paths were destroyed, including ''The Bridge of Mists'' by a giant [[Devilpuss]]. Traveling through what remained of the clouds, Rohane defeated the [[Fallen Angel]] and giant Devilpuss on the way to the Faerie City. Once inside, they defeated [[The Faerie Thief]] who was coordinating monster attacks, and learned the Faerie Palace was overrun by the forces of a dragon calling himself [[King Terask]], who had taken the throne from [[Fyora]], the path to which was locked by two [[Pant Devil]]s.

If a user should die while playing Insane, they will start the game over from the very beginning, and not retain their level, skills, or items.

Users are rewarded with [[Neopoint]]s during gameplay for gaining levels and defeating bosses. A total of 30,625 NP can be gained from gaining all levels, and 13,250 NP is gained from all 12 bosses in regular play. And extra 7,500 and 17,500 NP can be received from the extra bosses in Evil and Insane difficulties due to the extra bosses. A trophy is also rewarded for each difficulty defeated.

When NeoQuest I was first released, a contest was held to reward the first 5 users to defeat each difficulty. These users were rewarded special [[Battledome Equipment]] and a special second set of tropies.

Although it is not listed under the highscores, Neoquest does in fact have its own version of a highscores table. When in the game clicking on [http://www.neopets.com/games/neoquest.phtml?section=leaders Leader Boards] will take you to a list of the first people to beat NeoQuest I, the fastest wins and those with the most wins. New entries into these lists do not gain a user rewards, but it allows them to at least lay claim to a certain task.

There was magic in the land, and that is real magic - not the faerie one we have today. A group of powerful magicians, called the Circle Of Twelve was once assembled - and for a time it was good. Featuring Jahbal and Xantan, the group was set out to wreak havoc in Neopia some time later, as the group's leader, Jahbal, grew mad with power.

Xantan was exiled by the Circle Of Twelve, with most of his power stripped away. He has, since then, made a cave near Neopia City his home.

Beeing Mad, Jahbal decided to start a war against all others. Some of Empire's cities fell... others stood up to face Jahbal. So did the city of Kal Panning, and it's leader Faelinn.

Eventually, Jahbal defeated Kal Panning's defenders, and turned the city's population into zombies. The other members of the Circle seen the error of their ways (and who they were allying themselves with), and decided to get rid of Jahbal. Jahbal, however made spyed on the Council members, and decided to flee to the Two Rings Castle.

The group of wizards decided not to hunt Jahbal down, for noone knew what arterfacts of power there were in his castle - and cast a sealing spell on the entire Two Rings Range. Nothing is supposed to make it throught that barrier - and at that, they settled.

Somehow, Jahbal has found a way to break through the barrier. Although he himself could never pass the barrier, his magic reached out to the outside world, and created monsters. The monsters, in turn, were ordered to hunt down The Empire's leaders - disabling the empire. Many fell, far more suffered; the seeds of destruction were sown.

Jahbal continued to create monsters... and soon the Empire collapsed. Only the most well defended cities were still standing.

Who knows, maybe, some day, a hero will slay Jahbal?

==Time restrictions==
Due to the large number of page views and popularity when the game was first available, Neopets' servers ran very slowly for some time. When it first opened, it kept bringing down the Neopets server, which were incapable of handling the game at the time. As a temporary fix, they only allowed users to play in the mornings (Eastern Standard Time), and prevented play during any other time. This ban was lifted on August 24, 2002. Since then, there have been no such restrictions and Neoquest can now be played at any given time during the day.

Users are frozen for serious infractions of the [[Neopets Terms and Conditions]]. Being frozen is usually permanent, although it is possible to petition [[The Neopets Team]] and convince them to un-freeze an account. Unfreezing is very rare, due to site moderators usually freezing users for a good reason. A frozen account will display this message on their [[User Lookup]]...

Once the account is frozen, the user name and names of Neopets will stay logged into the database, preventing a user or Neopet from having those names. This stops the previous owner of the account from starting over or other users from potentially pretending to be that user.

==Suspension==
In cases of more minor infractions, a player's account may be suspended or disabled, which often serves as a warning to a user. A suspended account works the same as a frozen account, in that it cannot be accessed by the user (the main page and a few other pages can still be viewed, though). Unlike a freezing, a suspension will usually wear off after a certain period of time (acting as a temporary freeze). According to the terms and conditions, an account can be suspended for up to 72 hours; however, some users have been suspended longer, sometimes reaching over 100 hours. After the suspension wears off, the user has to confirm that he understands why he was suspended and has re-read the rules so that he won't do it again. After being given a suspension, it's possible to be frozen much more easily, due to a warning already being given to the user.

The '''Chia''' is a lovable little character who is full of joy. Chia love exploring the land and making new friends.The name Chia may be related to the Chia Pet-like tufts of hair on top of their heads.

The very first Neopet, Thyassa, was "born" on November 14, 1999 (the day before the site was officially opened). Chias appear to be great favourites with Neopets staff and are available in a wide array of variations (not available to any other pet species) that look like fruits and vegetables. (For example, the Orange Chia looks like an actual orange instead of simply being orange in colour.) More recently, Neopets staff have added the Durian and the Carrot Chia. Chias are well known for being the food of Lupes, and perhaps that accounts for the many colours, or rather, flavours, of Chias.

The Chia was one of the first neopet ever made and comes in the widest variety of colours of all the pets, including a range of fruit colours attained using [[Magical Chia Pops]]. [[Adam Powell]] owns three [[Asparagus]] Chia plus his Bori on his [[Neopets]] account, [http://www.neopets.com/randomfriend.phtml?user=borovan borovan]. Despite their popularity with the original creators, no recent merchandise based on the Chia has ever been made available. However, when Neopets merchandise was just starting to be released, there were yellow Chia plushies and purple Chia plushies. Lack of new merchandise may be due to a legal dispute among Neopets and Joseph Enterprises, Inc over the use of the name "Chia" (the Chia Pet).

Joseph Enterprises, the company that made Chia Pets, sued Neopets Inc. for using the name of "Chia" as a species. The lawsuit never got anywhere. The first chia and therefore, first neopet ever made was [[Thyassa]] mentioned later in the wiki article. The Chia, while being Neopet's first [[Neopet]] is not the most common at all.

These games also tend to take a long time to download, particularly on computers with a dial-up modem, and tend to run slowly on older computers, often leading to a less enjoyable experience for people on older computers. On the other hand, computers with broadband and modern processor chips experience the benefit of better graphics, as well as embedded sound in the game.

The pictures are stored on their local server in their native form, without background etc. We (meaning Neodex) are allowed to use the pictures for uploading as long we provide a little note where the pictures are from, e.g. "Picture of a Speckled Lupe, taken from neocolours.de". So there should be no problems finding pictures, if these conditions are acceptable. :) The URLs of the images have the form

A Beta version was released on April 18, 2007 for [[Neopets Premium|Premium]] users, and later released to the rest Neopia on April 20, 2007. Users were asked to send in comments and suggestions to improve performance as certain features were tested. Beta testing ended on April 24.
