A '''Nerkmid''' is a star-shaped coin that is used as currency for the [[Alien Aisha Vending Machine]]. Like the vending machine itself, Nerkmids are an invention of the [[Alien Aisha]]s, and it is the Alien Aishas that distribute the Nerkmids throughout [[Neopia]].

On the [[Neopets]] website, Nerkmids take the form of tradable [[item]]s. They are obtained by receiving them from [[Random Event]]s or by purchasing them from other users using the [[Auction House]], [[Trading Post]], or user [[shop]]s. The Vending Machine itself can also give out Nerkmids, although it requires a Nerkmid to be used.

The Snowager only sleeps between 6-7 AM, 2-3 PM, and 10-11 PM, [[Neopia Standard Time]]. During these times, it is possible to sneak in and grab a prize from the pile of treasure he rests on. Prizes range from [[Negg]]s to medicine to [[Plushie|plushies]]. The Snowager can also wake up and deal damage to your active pet, or even to all of them, by delivering a powerful icy blast.

The Snowager is an NPC in NeoQuest II, and contrary to his terrorising role in the Ice Caves, in the simulation he keeps order in [[Terror Mountain]]'s roads of avalanches, as well as eating various monsters in the mountain, which are actually the ship's data routes and the ship's viruses respectively. He is imprisoned by [[Scuzzy]] and it is the job of Rohane and his party to defeat [[Scuzzy]] and free the Snowager. After Scuzzy is defeated the Snowager is free and reveals himself as a sentient program in charge of maintaining the ship's computers, but that a virus has been installed and now has control of the ship's computers.

During this month, users can visit the Advent Calendar every day to view a short animation and collect a small gift, both of which are often [[Christmas]] or winter themed.

The advent calendar was first announced by [[TNT]] on November 30, 2000, and the first Advent Calendar gift was given out on December 1, 2000. Just like other dailies, users are only allowed to collect Advent Calendar gifts using their [[main account]].

When the NC Mall first opened, items would expire in 180 days and many users disliked the idea of paying real money for something that would be taken away in 6 months. Since then none of the NC items on the site can expire, with the obvious exception of one-use items like game tickets and Mystery Capsules (which disappear after being opened). The NC [[NeoBoard]] occasionally has topics made by those protesting the idea of buying items with real currency as opposed to [[Neopoints]], stating that it breaks the promise that Neopets will be a free site.

==Controversy==
When the NC Mall first opened, items would expire in 180 days and many users disliked the idea of paying real money for something that would be taken away in 6 months. Since then none of the NC items on the site can expire, with the obvious exception of one-use items like game tickets and Mystery Capsules (which disappear after being opened). The NC [[NeoBoard]] occasionally has topics made by those protesting the idea of buying items with real currency as opposed to [[Neopoints]], stating that it breaks the promise that Neopets will be a free site.

==Trivia==
*During the official opening of the NC Mall, the image link in Neopia Central had animated flood lights and a giant float of the Green Scorchio as a large line strung out from the shops entrance.
*The most expensive item to buy from the NC Mall is the ''Down With NC Flag'', pricing at 5000 NC points, while the cheapest is ''I Heart NC Flag'', priced at 25 NC. This is an obvious joke on the part of [[The Neopets Team]], requiring users who want to proclaim their dislike of the NC Mall to buy the most expensive item.
