The Meepit is a Spooky Petpet released on August 30, 2001 with large unblinking black eyes, short front limbs, stout bodies, and large hind feet. There is something awfully spooky about those big staring eyes…

Despite their innocuous appearance, they have developed a reputation for being members of a large, malevolent circle with various postulated aims - including world domination and miscellaneous association with Dr. Sloth. This is spurred on by their consistent, unblinking stare that is often seen as unnerving.

This perceived threat is likely intended to comically make up for their otherwise not scary appearance - on the face of it, a wide eyed, short-armed pink body is not typical of malevolent monsters.

However, the Meepit was originally introduced on October 15, 2001 in I, as the members of a tribe of beasts called Pygmies. In the game, the ferocious creatures took over a research centre in Ancient Neopia, which eventually became known as the Jungle Ruins. Their portrayal as vicious creatures here may be the source of Neopias perceived fears.

The Meepit has a rarity of 98, making it a very rare and expensive Petpet, costing around 3 million Neopoints at the Trading Post as of June 2007. It can also be combined with 2 different items at at the Cooking Pot: with the Fishing Kiko Gnome a Fishing Meepit Statue is created, and with Roburg 3T3 a Romeep 3t3.
Plot summaries
NeoQuest I
NeoQuest I

Years before the Hero appeared, pygmy tribes were taken to the research centre (which would become the Jungle Ruins), and lived in the jungle surrounding it. they were peaceful at first, but become violent, and were held back until Rollay Scaleback struck a deal with Kreai to help him overthrow his masters. The pygmies helped and eventually betrayed him, and have made the ruins of the research center their home.
The hero has to fight with 8 types of pygmies: vulgar pygmy, shaman, greater shaman, pygmy chief, pygmy warrior, pygmy sage, pygmy elder and a skeletal shaman.

The Tale of Woe
The Tale of Woe
Ghost Meepits were central to the task of locating Ilere's home deep in the Haunted Woods. Users had to navigate their way through a maze of trees collecting all seven Meepits by feeding them Ghost Meepit Juice. After locating Ilere's front door, the Meepits had to be arranged on the spots of light until all seven started to dance. This would open the door and conclude the plot step.

*As of June 2008, Meepits are featured in 32 different items including two only available in the NC Mall.
*A real life Mini Meepit Plushie can be bought.
*The Meepit was featured in Week 37 of the Petpet Protection League.
*On April 26, 2007, the regular news was replaced with an image of the Giant Meepit of Peace (Not Doom), with the words "YOU ARE NOT PREPARED" under it. However, in other languages, the message differed from this - for example, in German and Dutch, it was "It knows what will happen soon...Do you know?". This event was the introduction to the change to Neopets 2.0.
*The Neopedia article was added on August 23, 2007.
The Hidden Tower is an invisible tower located in Faerieland, part of Fyora's palace. Opened to the public on January 17, 2001, the Hidden Tower stores a variety of magical artifacts Fyora sells in order to raise money for Faerieland. The majority of these items are Battledome Equipment, of which are a collection of the most powerful in the Battledome, making them highly sought by users.

The Hidden Tower stood for many years completely forgotten in a hidden courtyard overrun with weeds. One of the reasons it lay undisturbed for so long was its invisible enchantment. It was rediscovered by Fyora's maid Celandra when she found a trapdoor hiding behind a bookshelf, and while cleaning saw a pair of shadows walk through a doorway which appeared from out of nowhere. The original purpose of the tower is not known, but it is assumed to be an armoury of rare and dangerous weapons, a storehouse to keep items safe from others, or as a hiding place.

Stock
Items in the Hidden Tower have an item rarity of 200 and cannot be obtained through Random Events. They are very expensive with prices ranging from a few hundred thousand to sixteen million neopoints. Items will not be for sale some of the time for Fyora to restock, though this is just a formality as unlike regular Neopian shops, there is effectively an unlimited supply of the items users can buy until they are retired.

The Ghost Lupe is a restless Lupe Ghost who prowls Mystery Island, seeking revenge against the dangerous natives who kidnapped his bride two centuries ago. He is believed to be named Sylva, the first mate of a ship sent to colonize Mystery Island. As the only officer who survived a the a ship wreck with one third of the passengers, he kept a log of their attempts to survive against the natives, witch doctors, and a fiery spirit in the jungles. His last entry detailed a small group of survivors being captured by natives during the night, and that he "must rescue her", her being his bride (or so it's believed). After this, there are no more entries in the journal.

Though he has been known to help Neopets at times (healing them fully in the form of a Random Event), he is still considered dangerous, and best left alone.

Plot Summary
Defenders of Neopia Series 1
:Main Article: Defenders of Neopia

A Chia and his Tigermouse, Squeaky, move into a haunted Neohome at 131 Soup Alley of Neopia Central, where the Ghost Lupe was residing. During the night, the Ghost Lupe began to levitate objects and throw them at the new residents, and then finally appearing before them, chasing them out of the NeoHome. Judge Hog returned and fought the Ghost Lupe, catching him in a ghost trap.

Battledome
The Ghost Lupe can be found on Neohome 131 Soup Alley, which would seem an obscure area to find a battledome challenger, but the address is prominently visible in the Defenders of Neopia comic. Users then go to the Neohome site and refresh once, should be challenged by the Ghost Lupe.

The Ghost Lupe is fought in the Island Arena, and has the Sponsor Abilities Aura, Frost, Inertia, Psychic Attack and Scorch.

Llugh (also known as Trickster Llugh) is a Red Mynci known for creating the annual event of Gadgadsbogen. He was introduced in a Neopedia on (need date), which detailed his involvement in the festival. Described as an old story told by Mystery Island inhabitants, Llugh received a bet from his friend Mizkuko when he claimed he was faster than the sun. Mizkuko challenged him to race from one end of Mystery Island to the other in a day, effectively beating the sun. Llugh's race across Mystery Island was difficult but was aided by the fruits he'd took along for strength. Due to a hole in his bag, he lost all his fruit except for three Juppies, and when a hungry traveller asked if Llugh could spare a Juppie just as the sun was setting, Llugh kindly gave away his last Yellow Juppie. The traveller was in fact an Earth Faerie called Tyleine, who granted Llugh the strength to get to the edge of Mystery Island before the sun had gone over the horizon. When Llugh returned, Tyleine returned the Yellow Juppie, and asked him to throw the seeds of the Juppie along the road as he ate so new plants would grow. When he does this, new fruits and vegetables grow, a ritual he repeats each year.

Terror Mountain is the snow and ice world of Neopia. Terror Mountain is made of three maps, first of which is Happy Valley, a snowy hamlet at the foot of the mountain with shops and games for users to play. Next is the Ice Caves where users can visit The Snowager or buy a scratchcard with Neopoints. Last is Terror Mountain itself where some shops and games like Cliffhanger are available.

Sections
Happy Valley
Opened 9th November 2000, Happy Valley is a merry section of Terror Mountain where Neopets (usually Bruces and Blumaroos) can be found frolicking in the snow, and acts as the entrance to Terror Mountain. Acts as the "Christmas" world of Neopets, and contains the Advent Calendar, and even allows users to print off Neopets themed gift tags. you may also want to see the Slushie Shop or look at the pets in their Christmas outfits at the Merry Outfits Shop
*Games: Rink Runner, Snow Wars II, Snow Wars

Ice Caves
Opened 4th December 2000, the Ice Caves reside deep within Terror Mountain and stretching far into surrounding glaciers. The caves have lain undisturbed for thousands of years, but since it's release has become a tourist attraction, featuring the Battledome's Ice Arena, and is the home of the Snowager, where users can attempt to steal its treasure at the times 6:00:00 - 6:59:59 AM, 2:00:00 - 2:59:59 PM, and 10:00:00 to 10:59:59 PM NST, while it is sleeping.

The Ice Caves also contain a scratch card kiosk, the Neggery where normal Neggs may be exchanged for special varieties, and shopping areas, including the Ice Crystals Shop, where weapons such as the Freezing Potion and Spicy Snowflakes may be found.
Released 5th January 2001, the section of Terror Mountain called Terror Mountain is the peak of the mountain. Besides containing links to games and shops, there is also a links to Colouring Pages, The Snow Faerie's Quest, and a Neopedia link to Poogle Racers on the map itself (still active as of February 13, 2007).
Yooyuball
Terror Mountain's Yooyuball team was known as "the worst team a fortune can buy" in 2006, due to the collection of talented players who failed to come together and play as a team when they were defeated by Darigan Citadel. Terror Mountain's management has since begun moving away from their overpriced free agent signings of years past and started rebuilding for the future. The centerpiece of the youth movement was Osielle Lidel, a speedy young forward who stepped in to replace Tico Tems in 2007. While Lidel has the makings of a future superstar, it could by a year or two before he has the kind of team around him ready to seriously challenge the Altador Cup.

*Prytariel - Left Forward, Team Captain
*Rinok Fitel - Right Defender
*Selwick Phoss - Left Defender (2006)
*Elbin Kroe - Left Defender (2008)
*Osielle Lidel - Right Forward (2007)
*Tico Tems - Right Forward (2006)

Trivia
*The Ice Caves used to only be accessible with the use of an ice totem, which was gained by signing up with a sponsored advertisement.
*In II, a Chia settlement called Chia Oscuro exsits, where they speak a different language then most Neopians. However, there is no proof of it really existing, or if it's just the creation of the virtual simulation.
*The Neopedia article for Terror Mountain was released on November 16, 2007.
It's assumed the Grackle Trap ate Grackle Bugs, due to them having them share the same name. Traces of the Grackle Trap can still be seen on Neopets, such as the image URL. Also, the game Fetch! still asked for the Grackle Trap to be found for The Master.

The Draik is a dragon-like Neopet, released on June 25, 2002.

Overview
Draiks appeared in Neopia without any warning, seeming to come from another world (later found out to be Meridell). Featured primarily as knights and castle guards in Meridell Castle, Draiks are curious Neopets that love to hunt, but never know what to do with their prey once they catch it. They also love going on adventures which can take them far away from home. It's also assumed the average Draik to be 3 feet tall as shown by the Neopets TCG card Draik Soldier.

Draiks were released as Limited Edition Neopets along with Ixis, but while Ixis are now available normally, no more Draiks have been released. Instead, they are available by visiting the Draik Nest with a Draik Egg, allowing it to hatch (similar to the way a Krawk is received). Besides hatching a Draik from a Draik Egg, a user can also buy a Morphing Potion to change their Neopet, or take them to the Lab Ray. All methods, however, are expensive, as the Lab Ray is in high demand and Draik Eggs and Morphing Potions are in limited number. The fact users receive an Avatar for owning a Draik and visiting the Draik Nest makes it all the more expensive. Because of the difficulty it takes to own a Draik, they are considered a symbol of ones status in Neopets.

Colours
As of November 2008, Draiks come in 41 different colours...
Soon after that, she washed up on the shores of Meridell, claiming she was going to make everything dark and twisted. After Illusen's charm was stolen by the Werelupe King, nothing could stop The Darkest Faerie from taking over the land, and she quickly covered Meridell in a dark purple cloud, tainting all inhabitants under them with her evil. Thanks to Tormund and Roberta she was imprisoned in stone.

Altador Plot
Altador Plot

In the Altador Plot, users were required to find The Darkest Faerie's contellation, known as The Sleeper. Finding her constellation began to break down a spell that was cast over Altador to cover up it's history.

On the 28th of March, a new link was discovered on the Altador map that led to the Restive Tomb. Clicking one of the holes in the center of the door would reveal the pattern of the first constellation. Go back to the Archivist then to the observatory. Find the constellation and report back to the Astronomy Club. The gems above the Darkest Faerie statue now glow and The Sleeper chapter in the Book of Ages is filled in.

Book of Ages: Chapter 1, The Sleeper
<blockquote>Just as a hero must perform a heroic deed before he can be named as such, a villain must also do something terrible in order to earn such a title. The Betrayer was not always an evil being and was once even respected for her deeds. Long before the Great Betrayal, (in fact, before the founding of Altador), she earned her place among the twelve Founders by saving the life of King Altador himself.<br><br>

A terrible menace was plaguing a peaceful farmland, and a hunter (the future king of Altador) journeyed forth to slay the beast. He tracked it back to its lair in a cave at the base of a mountain and there cornered it. Though the beast roared viciously, Altador did not falter.<br><br>

Rather, he notched an arrow and let it fly, striking the beast squarely in the head. Even as the vile creature slumped to the ground, another of its kind snuck up on the unsuspecting Lupe. The noble hunter would have fallen then and there if not for a purple blast of magic. Startled, Altador spun around, just in time to see the other creature collapse. There, standing behind it, was a dark faerie... the Betrayer.<br><br>

Altador thanked her graciously for saving his life. He had never witnessed such compassion on the part of a dark faerie before, so he bid her to return with him to his village, where they would feast and be praised as heroes.<br><br>

Each carried the head of the beast they had slain to the village, and a grand celebration was held long into the night. Altador, realising what a unique ally he had acquired, asked her to stay and join him and his companions in fulfilling a dream he had of founding a great city. The Betrayer agreed, and though she would ultimately help to build the kingdom's august capital and serve the council well, nothing can make up for her terrible betrayal. She broke the king's heart, for no sword strikes as deep as the one wielded by a friend....</blockquote>

Trivia
*Random Events involving the Darkest Faerie...
**The Darkest Faerie appears to be deep in thought and doesn't notice you. You'd better run before she finds you and... well, you don't want to know what will happen.
*It was long thought that the name of the Darkest Faerie was Jennumara, the Dark Faerie who had stolen the name of a Grey Faerie in her Neopedia article. However, this speculation was cleared in the editorial of issue 239 of the Neopian Times, stating they were two separate Dark Faeries.
Battle Speeches
Opening speech:
The Faeries gaze at you as you approach. You shout, "Zhadramekel!" and the Faeries start screaming in terror, as if burned. Suddenly, they each grow to twenty times their normal size. They're now as big as you are... and they're attacking!

Flee speech:
The Faeries shrink back down to their normal size as you run away. "Balthazar is ours!" they scream in unison.

Victory speech:
The faeries shrink back to their normal size. "You were a fool to try and defeat us!"

Defeated Speech:
The Faeries each shrink to their normal size as they die, and suddenly their tiny bodies all vanish in an eyeblink. Balthazar shakes his head and sniffs the air, as the trees around you begin to change and wither. Within moments, Balthazar's grove has become its normal, evil self, no longer enchanted by happiness.
