Round 78
SSBB = Super Smash Brothers Brawl
To all of those interested in joining, there are no sign ups. You can just start playing right off the bat. If you need additional help, I am here most of the time and more than willing to try to help as much as possible.
Story as of now:
[img][/img]
- Couldn't think of one
Tina puts on her Geomancer cap and summons up Kakariko Village. Black Mage, scared of the white mages in his yard, gets the Pokeball and frees Lucky from inside! She uses Softboiled to heal everyone for +4 HP! Luigi is still not healed enough to survive though. In celebration of the freeing of their friend, Team Pokemon get a Pokeball and free Kireihana. She uses a Sleep Power to render Chrono, Soma, Kasumi, and Zelda asleep for the next round The Metroid drains Fox for -3 damage. A beat up Reno is letting Auron free. It has nothing to do with gunner Yuna behind him.
Reno: We are sorry for your arrest. You are free, but on probation.
Auron: Thanks, little man and Yuna.
Yuna: Twas nothing.
Reno: At least I had you on top of me...
Yuna arms the pistol.
Reno: I’ll shut up.
Kite: Okay, Reno. I’m sorry.
Kite leads a whitish-yellow chocobo to Reno.
Reno: What the hell is that!
Kite: I got my friend Helba to recode your bird. She added a few embellishments too...
The chocobo says ‘kweh!’ and spreads its wings. All of the under-wing feathers are colored like a rainbow.
Yuna: Pretty!
Reno: Not half as pretty as y...
Turns to get an armed gun on his nose. Never mind. Good work, boy.
Reno climbs on his chocobo and rears it. He rides off to referee the game... for once.
-----------------------------------------------------------
[Insert Sephiroth being funny. I had a scene for him, but forgot it.]
-----------------------------------------------------------
Snake and Sam are standing against a blank screen. Snake is carrying as much gear as Sam..
Snake: I’m a Mac.
Sam: And I’m a PC. What is with the big boy clothes?
Snake: Oh. This? I just got back from an op in North Korea.
Sam: Why? Why were you in North Korea?
Snake: I do work for the US too. I mean, I’ve been working with the US government for years.
Sam:
Nearly hyperventilating. The US government? Secret ops. Oh boy!
Sam starts hyperventilating.
Snake: What?
Sam: Oh. I knew this day would come.
Snake: PC...
Sam:
Starts sitting. I just need to sit down.
Collapses. Oh wow!
Snake: There are plenty of ops out there for the both os us. I don’t know why you’re acting like this.
Sam: Why go on? Just let me lay here and depreciate!
Sam rolls over, away from Snake. Snake just shrugs.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Koopa is facing the camera. He is holding a bag of chips.
Narrator: Glagnar’s Human Rinds! It’s a bunch-a, munch-a, crunch-a human!
Koopa gets out a chip and eats it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Samanosuke and Kratos’ match is coming to its apex! Or it would be if either had the upper hand on the other. Both are grunting and groaning and forcing as much as possible, but neither is budging. Katt is staring at their fists.
Katt: Move. Move! Move damn you!
Kratos: Quiet, wench!
Katt hisses and walks away.
Leon: Guys, I have to agree with Katt. I think it is time to give it a rest.
Samanosuke: But I have the upper hand.
Pit:
Whispers to Meta Knight. Is that a pun?
Chief: Seriously. You two can do something more practical to prove who is manlier.
Kratos, Samanosuke: But I am winning!
Katt comes running back and tackles Kratos. Samanosuke is thrown across the room too. Katt starts ripping into Kratos. Everyone starts backing away.
Katt: Who are you calling a wench?!
Kratos: Ah! Get this beast off me!
Pit: Yeah. Good luck with that.
Kratos: What is that in your mouth? Is it my ear!
Meta Knight: I’m not getting into that.
Kratos: Help me!!
Samanosuke: I was going to win too...
Katt: You want some of this too!
Samanosuke holds up his hands and walks off. Katt returns to beating up Kratos.
0500/1700 Rule: Regardless of when the last update occurred, you may make actions
after 5AM/PM your time zone. There is no need to wait for an update to make an action, but it is recommended. Any actions that break this rule will not count as a legal action and will be promptly (eventually) pointed out. If you miss one of the posting periods, you will not get an extra move. I will allow posts +5 minutes in so you don’t have to rush your action.

Specials follow the same format where appropriate.
Specials and weapons should be used before regular attacks can be used.
Special users can defeat one 1 or 2 HP NPC of their choice in addition to their special use (meaning without targeting the NPC with the special).
Super Smash Attacks (SSA): SSA actions are powerful, character-specific moves with special effects. They can only be activated two ways and usually involve the character being removed from the game (see below) for a short time. The SSA use counter does not reset until all characters have used their SSA. To activate: either use a Smash Emblem or buy it with some points. Characters that still have an available SSA are marked with the Yen symbol (¥)
Removed from the Game (RFG): Unlike in Magic: The Gathering, this is not a permanent effect. Characters removed from the game cannot attack or heal but cannot be targeted. They return to play after a set amount of rounds. At least three characters will remain in play at all times.
Special Character - Gogo: Due to Gogo’s unique nature, I will post his information every round. If there are any questions, PM me, and I will willingly help.
Gogo cannot attack or heal. He is active every round. He has only one special which he uses every round.
Special: Mime: *Gogo copies the last action done (the post above this use). *Gogo’s user may choose new targets. *If a special was used, Gogo receives -3 damage in addition to the special’s effects. *Cannot mime SSAs or actions in the GM’s posts. *Cannot be the first action of the round. *If Gogo is not used, he automatically heals for +1 HP each round, but he starts with 30 HP at the beginning of the game. *He counts as male for gender related contests.
Sample use:
Code:
[b]Gogo mimes [Last Character Used] and [Copies the last action as player sees fit][/b]
Starting/Maximum HP = 50
Factions: (** = Active Ability)
Castlevania: +30 - Vampire Slayer - Characters can automatically defeat two NPCs with 1, 2, or 3 HP or defeat one 4 or 5 HP NPC in addition any other actions this round

Dream Land: +20 - Skill Copy - Members may use any special belonging to any [Faction] member. (Check character guide or with the GM for specials)
Hyrule: +90 points - Magic Sack - Members may use any weapon unlimited times (weapon changes user after each use unless user can do unlimited attacks) (Check item guide or with the GM for items)

Defeated - Kongo Jungle: +20 - Monkey Friends - When a member is attacked, the attacker receives a -1 damage counterattack for every -2 damage dealt to member (counterattack is rounded down)
Mushroom Kingdom: +40 - Mega Mushroom - All members deal double damage for the rest of the round, but cannot use weapons. Negative side effects are doubled for members
Pokémon: +50 - Pokeball - A random, unused Pokeball is activated. Members are immune to the effects

Round 78 Announcements:
1:
Both Brackets are Active!
2: I hope you are liking the commercial parodies. They are really fun to write. If you have suggestions, feel free to PM me.
3: The new, month-long ‘mini’-game is essentially done being written. I have posted its information at the bottom of the page. It is just something big to occupy time since I have Spring Break coming up soon and will have to drop the quality/detail of the plots.
4: Reorganization: By alphabetical order. Wanted it simple.
5: Reorganization facts: Don’t feel like it, but I do have to scold all of you for not busting me in listing Fei and Geno out of order for a whole week!
6: You know what other movies I liked, but haven’t seen in too long? Wayne’s World. They were fun.
7: Yay! All Factions have been used!
8: Extra hugs to Tested for the mime. Makes things interesting now

9: Peach and Falco for two more Factions gone

10: For those that haven't seen her before, Lucky is 'infinite' use. She can be used many times before I have to reset the Pokemon list. This is actually the first time that someone besides me has used her though!

(Remember which one Chris picked if you ever want to heal everyone again).

Referral Services
Once again, I ask to count the number of references that have been made. But wait! It isn’t just for today! It is for the whole month of March! This shouldn’t be too hard since I have made many references a day for a long time. The dates you want to search from are March 1st to March 31st. The ‘mini-game’ will be active while March is still ending, but that is by design. Collaboration is fine, but there will be no prize splitting.
Entries by non-players are accepted. Prizes for those entries are added to the general pool for later redistribution. PM all questions. If they require clarification overall, then I will announce them.
What to Look For:
1) Subtle references. The commercials and direct quotes are some of the few direct references that will be counted. The Characters, the Stages, the Items, the NPCs, etc are not counted. References to their games are only counted in plots or announcements. If in doubt, put it in, but find another just in case it is not counted.
2) Only look in Plots and Announcements. Everything else is virtually the same information every single time. Added to this ‘hint,’ only look in posts that I have made that contain plot or announcements. That means you have ignore Christopher’s wonderful FLCL reference and link (Love that song!) as well as any other references in players’ posts or my corrections. (No staff-chucks

)
3) Double references. Big hint on what I mean by that: Mr Kennedy’s NBC-style PSA with the Resident Evil twist. Or Snake, Sam, and Raiden’s commercial. They are a little subtler, but worth two references on the final tally.
4) Multiple references from the same source count as one large reference. Just mentioning that since I found one like that on Day 1.
5) Anything else? This space will be used for clarification if needed.
Entry Dates: Midnight April 1 (by your time zone) - Midnight April 5 (by my time zone/NST).
Winners posted: April 7 Update
(Times chosen as to give players more than enough time to send in an entry)
Entry Format:
Code:
Day #:
Reference - Source - Approximate location of reference in the post.
Next reference
Day #+1: etc
Prizes:
1st - +100 Points and ???
2nd - +50 Points and ???
All entries that are a minimum of 25 references long get +10 Points automatically. The entry with the most, accurate references wins. The list of references that I have found will be posted at the end of the mini-game.
This Round's NPC(s):
1 Metroid: 5 HP. +5 points when defeated. Immune to regular attacks. Deals - 3 damage to one character at the end of this round. Instantly defeated by any DS9er or Team Sephiroth special.
This Round's Faction Ability:
Pokémon: Pokeball - A random, unused Pokeball is activated. Members are immune to the effects
Quick but important poll!
If you want to be polled (no need to enter), please post what time zone you are in, based on GMT. I am in PST which is GMT -8. This way I can keep track of double posts better.
Thank you!
