Well then, it makes my explanation in an earlierpost make sence. In which case, PPT should be upgraded to the non-exploitable version as well to be on the safe side.

I don't get it...just what is so "exploitable" about the forums as they are now?

Hello! I'm new to this forum! :) I have been on Neopets for two years, and my account is neokat301. *waves* I went to Neocolours and looked at the forums. I thought it was hacked too. I hope they get the site back. It's a good site. Then I went to the main page and it said that the site is defaced. It also said this: NeverEverNoSanity WebWorm generation 10. Hmm...

Well that should serve as an heads up to neocolours to use harder passwords. As the only way hackers get into the systems are by easy and or guessable passwords. So if you have an easy password i suggest that you use letters/symbols/numbers in your pass.

An example could t5$@#$#666!!!)&:D

Not necessarily an easy password ... could have been a weakness somewhere else, someone found it, exploited it and put a backdoor code in. From my limited understanding something like that is very hard to detect once it's done unless there's some sort of complete system rollback.

Whatever the case, I am sorry this happened. There are people with too much time on their hands and instead of trying to do something worthwhile with their knowledge, skills and time, they do garbage like this. Same with people who will launch ddos attacks on a site because they don't like someone or get banned.

I hope that anyone new to this forum from Neocolours will feel welcome :) I also hope that everyone who's been to that site has made it a point to clear all cookies, run their own a/v scans and if necessary change passwords. Also might not be the best idea to have email, IM, AIM, YIM and websites posted publicly. Just for safety's sake.

I often post at Neocolours as well, its such a shame they got hacked! I just tried to visit the forums (before I came here) and it says, "This site has been Defaced!" Looks like a worm, ouch. Its funny, there's another forum I visit that is totally unrelated to Neopets, and it also had the "This site has been Defaced" message and is having problems with a worm. Wonder if its the same, that would be such a coincidence!

And thanks a bunch for the reminders to change passwords, I just changed mine on all my accounts.

Looks like I'll be hanging out here for awhile! :)

I wonder if this has to do with the current news about the vulnerabilies in certain versions of PHP (which effects phpBB among other forum systems.)
