I would probably use a time machine to change some of the things I did in the past - like maintain friendships better, maybe become a real hippie, stay in school longer to learn more things, etc.

I'd go back in time and give myself a dollar. Then, in the past, I'd have two dollars, then when I get to the time machine again, I'd give my past self two dollars, giving the past self four dollars. That would be interesting to go on and on...

I would go back and push scientists/engineers to invent cars that run on water or air. Then come back in the future and find that bottled water and bottle air costs $100 a pop.
