Hollaback Girl isn't a song. Discuss. ;)

My friend says that all the time. I like it. It has rythmn (At least to me it does) and I enjoy listening to it.

I honestly don't care if people don't think it's a song. I don't feel the need to defend Gwen Stefani's music. I will say things here and there but if you don't think it's a song, than that's your opinion.

I'd rather die then buy her album.

Enough said.

The only rhyming lyrics are:

"Cause I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl"

"People hear you talking like that, getting everybody fired up
....
....
That's right, put your pom-poms down, getting everybody fired up"

"So that's right dude, meet me at the bleachers
No principals, no student-teachers"

And, of course, the "famous" bananas part.

Oh, yeah, and the s-word is repeated a lot, so that's kind of rhyming.

Are you saying rhyming is a necessity to a song?

I don't think rhyming is necessary for something to be a song.

I do, however, think singing is.

Well, I'm new to this topic, but I do have to say she is singing. She is talking about something happening at school, according to the music video. I don't see how it isn't singing.

I know! I need to go and count how many times she says that. I, for one, have nothing against cursing, but it gets just a tad annoying when she curses every four seconds.

EDIT: She says the "s word" 42 times in that song alone.

Oh Igg, you amuse me so. 'Hollaback Girl' reminds me of the chants you get at football matches personally. Urgh.

No Doubt are spoiled anyway really. :/ Shame.

I saw the Hollaback Girl music video today.

It confused me.

0.0 Don't you think she's a bit... old to be there?

She looks like a soccer mom in the part where she is wearing red and what not.

Hollaback Girl was on the radio when I was scanning for stations, and the "This &%#* is bananas" part came on. My mum's like, "0.0 What's the point of this song?"

Also, her "Rich Girl" annoyed me because she stole it. 0.0

I like Hollaback Girl only because it's a fun wild song like my other song of hers that I like "What you waitin' for?". Your Mom is right though, there really is NO point to the song. And about "Rich Girl", I've never liked that song anyway because it's annoying to hear as much as to sing.

She is 'hollering'

As Amy said, like a football chant.
