Weezer is pretty good (not sure if they're still around though). That's the only 'modern' rock/pop band I reguarly listen to, I'm more into the 'classic rock' bands.

Weezer's still around. If I'm not mistaken, they're working on a new album too.. of course, the rate they've been going, I'm not sure I'll like it all that much. I kinda liked Keep Fishin' (the video was awesome), but.. that's like the only newer song I've liked.

Top 40 formulaic, commercially driven radio doesn't help.

red hot chili peppers and foo fighters, Classic rock and pop sounds so much more better than nowadays music, even rap was better than today (oh, maybe twenty years ago from what i listen to)

Honestly, Smash Mouth. They brought back some of the old classics and made a few new ones at the same time. Most of their songs don't envolve blood, guts, and shooting. I'd pick them
