Reglional names like Michael, John, Muhammed, David and Mary are way too common.

Royality names like Elizabeth (and various shorten versions of the name such as Lizzie), William, Edward and Charles are way too common.

I guess common names differ depending on where you are. Some of these names I've never heard of before, and others I would never, ever think of as common. However, I fully insist that there's no such thing as "too common". The more the better! I'd love to be in a school or camp with twenty people who share my name! *sigh* I hate not having a ridiculously popular name. One thing that bothers me is looking at those racks of souvenir keychains and magnets. My name can't possibly be any less common than a lot of the ones I do see!

...And to add insult to injury, four years after my parents decided against Julia, my little brother was then named Daniel by the same parents. *headwall*

In 2006, there were at least six girls in upper camp with the name Rachel. If I'd been younger, I would've insisted people call me Rachel. I'm too old to do that stuff :(

No. Trust me, you'd hate it. Every time someone says your name, you turn around, and it turns out they're talking to someone else. The tenth tor twelfth time, you don't turn around, and that's the time they're talking to you. It seriously is a giant pain in the rear. Also, I think it eventually turns a lot of people insane.

Oh gosh, I'd hate to have that happen to me. Maybe I'm just weird, but I like being the odd one out, being the different one. :P

I thought of some more. Melaina, Karolina, Natalia, Jenny, David, William, Philip.

Slightly off topic: And a common surname is Ward. Seriously, there are 4 teachers with the surname Ward and at least 3 pupils. o_O

At my uni, we have 2 Mitch's, 2 Alex's, 2 Arjun's, 2 Matt's, and 2 Lauren's - all where 1 is in the 1st year, 1 is in the 2nd. It gets darn confusing.

There's more (eg 2nd year Andreas, 3rd year Andreas), and it's damn confusing when you've only got 250-300 people on campus.

Incidentally, both of the Mitch's are the two tallest guys on campus. We just had a 'career week' last week, where potential students looked around for about 3 days - there was a guy who was even taller than both of them, and we told the guy we weren't going to admit him if his name was Mitch (luckily, it's John).

Emma. Emily.

Seriously, the amount of times someone calls out 'Em' in a day and I turn round... lol.

Other than that, theres a lot of Joes (mostly guys)
And quite a lot of Megan/Meghana type names, usually resulting in a lot of Meg's.
There's a lot of Jaz's in both guys and girls, but I haven't a clue what they're short for.

I was about to say that I don't know anyone with those names until I saw the word little. Yeah, it does seem like a lot of new couples are trying to give their babies more "exotic" (couldn't think of a better word) names, but it all ends up piling on top of each other, and in a few years we'll be complaining about how many Esmeraldas there are.

I know - I turned around and "yelled" (not really) at the other Alex and told her that I was there first and she'd have to change her name because I kept getting so confused.

10 weeks later and it still happens.
