I typically tell them Good Luck in future endevours, and not so subtlely ask them if I could use any non-breakable battledome items (that way, if they do return, I can return them).

I usually just say "Bye" and then wish them the best for the future. As far as I'm concerned I don't care if they leave and I'm too stubborn to ask people to give me stuff so I'm not going to do that.
