How strong is it?

What weapons & stats are recommended to beat it?

All I know is, it uses Thyoras Tear, but I know nothing else about it.

What do you get for winning? Your 5k back? Something else?

Just like with all challengers. Zippo, nothing. Some give you avatars/defenders of neopia trophies the first time you beat them, and in a war, you can get points. But otherwise, beating Battledome challengers doesn't gain you anything.

But if you look at the news for when it came out http://www.neopets.com/newfeatures.phtml?arr=2006-01-16 it says:

You don't win anything for beating the mutant Kadoatie. It says that you should purchase these items. Nowhere does it say they're for free.

Nowhere does it say purchase. It says "pick up some of this commemorative merchandise"
I just wasn't sure if that meant buy or pick up as in after you beat it, you get it as a souvineer

When saying pick up they mean it in go to this shop and buy it kinda way :)

You dont win anything. Its been said many times. If you are so curious go train and beat it and find out. All the battledome challangers dont give prizes other than avatars or for wars.

I've beaten him several times. You don't get anything -- no NP back, no souvenirs, nothing. It's just for fun. As for his weapons and starting HP, the info is here.
