Sorry if theres a topic related to this, but I was surfing Neopets and I got a pop-up. Its not from spyware, because I just scanned my computer and nothing was there. My computer is clean. I checked everything. This pop up is from a Neopets ad. Heres a screeny of it:

There most likely are some pop-ups on Neopets. I would suppose that they're there from the ads. Someone else on PPT got a pop-up that was the same as the banner ad they had at the time. Hmmm...
But you have ads blocked.
o_O *wonders*

I dont have all ads blocked. Only the ones I see. I see new ones every day, and so I dont even block them. So I probably only have half the ads on Neopets blocked. lol.

Wow, I've NEVER seen a topic on THIS before. :x

Theories behind the reason that this happens are that some of the banner ads on Neopets are not thoroughly checked before being released publicly, and thus, people get banner ads that may contain innappropriate content, spyware, or pop-up ads that the user has no way of controlling.

Some will tell you it's all for the revenue. I'm beginning to believe it.

I've seen that popup before, it does manage to bypass most popup blocking methods. It's caused by a certain ad that's in circulation, not Neopets itself. You need to report it.

Of course its all for revenue, why else would they be open for? To make money.

I really don't care what they do, because I can always block it with something. Doesn't really bother me, and have to pay utilites and employees somehow.

What I'm saying is that the pop-up is deliberately passed on to ensure greater amounts of money are flowing into the coffers. The banner ads are obviously for revenue; what I'm beginning to doubt is whether or not the new pop-ups are genuinely a mistake.

I've seen staff post about this before. If an ad is truly offensive or generating popups, send in a bug report. View the source code (right click, view source) and pick out the URL for the ad. The more information you can give them, the easier it is for them to find the problem and fix it. If you just tell them 'There's a stupid frog I hate!", they really can't and won't do anything ;) Give them enough information to go on ;)

It sure is...

Does anyone remeber back in the day when Switch-A-Roo was the most popular game around and Neopets promised us no pop-up ads, ever?

They still said that not too long ago. Someone in management is probably giving out some orders to make a "mistake" here and there, while PR (Adam and Donna) remain blissfully unaware (or are they?).

I got a popup (in Firefox! It boggles the mind!) from Neo earlier today, I was only using FF for Neo, and a FF window popped up when I clicked the "update prices" button in my shop. :/ I don't like this. I haven't had to deal with popups in like a year. It makes me sad that popups (from Neo or not) are getting through. Maybe I need to update FF though. :P
