They're different worms, for what that's worth. Just the same as there's a difference between a bot fly larva and a housefly maggot.

Tapeworm larvae lives in pork and beef, they could possibly be the little maggoty things.

In humans, tapeworm disease is most commonly caused by one of three tapeworm species: the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium), beef tapeworm (Taenia saginata) and dwarf tapeworm (Hymenolepis nana). The fish tapeworm (Diphyllobothrium4 latum) also infects people in areas where raw freshwater fish is consumed.

Tapeworm infection is usually caused by the ingestion of tapeworm eggs or larvae. Tapeworm eggs are generally ingested through food, water or soil contaminated with human or animal feces.

Larvae are usually ingested through undercooked pork or beef. For example, improperly-treated sewage containing tapeworm eggs may be used to fertilize pastures, which in turn infects pigs or cattle that graze in the area. Inside the animal's intestines, the eggs develop into pea-sized tapeworm larvae that are deposited in their tissues. The larvae can be passed on to humans who consume the meat.

Was on holiday with my mates last month and at the restaurant we went to had a very liberal attitude to what "rare" was. Several other people got medium rare, I got rare. My rare was phenomenally uncooked and was amazing. The medium-rares were basically rares. So two other people gave me their steaks. Three steaks for €8, that's a huge bargain.

I think this is probably the first time I've agreed with you on anything. I love bloody steak.

I have to ask, though, what was the size of the steaks you were eating? That translates to $5 per steak, but if they were tiny little 4 oz. steaks, it's not such a bargain.

I can also tell from reading this thread who read the Snopes article and who didn't.

My dad eats his steak blue rare. As in, lightly seared on either side and hopefully still twitching.

I like my steaks a nice medium to medium rare. I'll eat rare if I have to though if it's a good cut of meat.
