How to Make a Fluffy JubJub
Written by Thebravemoron
- Scissors. I used both a big pair and some small ones my Mum uses for knitting smaller ones are preferred though.
- Ruler. This is to measure the width of the compass not a big thing but thought I should include.
- Material/Felt. Felt would be the best option here but any scrap material will do both black and orange or yellow will be needed for feet, eyes and mouth.
- Wool. This is the main body color so it can be your choice at the end I will give you an idea on mixing.
- Needle. Just a large blunt needle will do its for winding the wool around the card especially near the end.
- Cardboard. A stiff thin card is needed here to keep the feet straight it is also used for the circles on the main body? Compass. To draw circles with you could also just use a glass and trace the top or anything round you chose.? Pencil. To draw the feet with and any other marks you may want to make.? White Pen. This is optional as I used it for highlights on the eyes you may not have one so don’t worry.
- Glue. I just used a hot glue gun this is quick and can get messy a good craft glue would be best if you have access to one other wise a normal PVA should do the trick just let it dry? Items I didn’t have. Pipe cleaners you know the wire with the fluffy stuff on the outside black one and orange or yellow I would use this for the mouth instead and it would also look more closer to the Neopets Jubub if it had eye brows.
Step 1
Draw two circles onto the card with the compass (or what ever you are using) around 60cm in diameter next draw a smaller circle on the inside in the middle around 25cm in diameter (Measurements can be made bigger if you want a large JubJub). Now cut out both of these circles and the centers so you are left with two rings.

Step 2
Place the two circles one on top of the other and then start wrapping the wool around the two circles keeping the wool reasonably tight and together (Look at fig.1 for help). Keep on going around and around the card until the center hole in the card is full (see fig.2) I suggest using two arm lengths or wool at a time going around the ring when you get to the end just get another length of wool and tie a knot then carry on. Near the end when the whole gets small you will have to use a needle. This is a lengthy process so be patient it will take around an hour unless your are fast.

Step 3
Using a small pair of scissors cut into the wool where the card is (the aim is to cut the wool between the card right around (See fig.3 for help).
Step 4
Using a piece of wool wind it around the ball between the cardboard and tie a knot tightly. Now you can rip the cardboard and pull it off. Shape the wool into a more perfect ball shape trim the ball where necessary.
Step 5
Now cut out two JubJub feet shape out of the card make sure they are in proportion to the ball use the Neopets JubJub image to know what size the feet should be in proportion to the JubJub. Glue the feet to the orange or yellow material. Once dry cut out the feet out of the wool (the card is there to make it stronger so it should stay there you can double side the card if you wish but I didn’t)
Step 6
Cut out two circles out of the black material around the size of 10cm in diameter. (or in proportion to the JubJub) Next put the white highlights on the eyes if you have a white marker. If you don’t have a pipe cleaner you will have to cut out a small mouth as well other wise a piece of pipe cleaner bent into a mouth shape is best.

Step 7
Glue the two eyes onto the ball and the mouth just below the eyes. Now glue on the feet in front of the eyes use my image or the Neopets image for positioning of the feet.
Don’t worry if your JubJub didn’t turn out right the first time as it takes practice and if it turns out better than mine good for you as I didn’t do a very good job of the one in the photo
Mixed Colors
For doing this you can either use two pieces of different colored wool at the same time which creates a spotted effect or use one color when half way change color. You could even try using three or more colors! Good luck!
