How to Make an Aisha Magnet

So, you're going out to the mail box, and you see one of those annoying fliers stuck to the side of the box with a magnet. You almost throw it away, but then you get to thinking, "What if I put this little magnet to a better use?" That's how I got the idea for my little paper Neopets magnets. When you are finished, you should be able to put your magnet on the kitchen refrigerator, the inside of your locker, or any other metal surface.

You will need
- Several different colors of construction paper.
- Scissors. Ask an adult to help you if you need to.
- Bottle of glue.
- A pencil.
- A pen.
- A small magnet.

Step 1
Use the pencil to lightly sketch out a circle. This will be the head. Draw out two rounded triangle shapes. These are the ears. Cut them out.

Step 2
Glue the ears to the head. Make sure the side with the pencil marks is facing down. When gluing, I would suggest gluing the ears behind the head. This makes it look a bit nicer, and hides some unsightly paper lines. Now, you can draw/cut out a bow- curved rectangle shape, like the one shown. Draw a line in the center.

Step 3
Cut down the line you drew. These are the ear stalks. When you glue them to the head, make sure that they, like the ears, are glued from behind. And also make sure to have the ear stalks facing opposite each other and outwards. It may look funny if you don't. Finish off the ear stalks by gluing two slightly pointy oval shapes to the top of each one. Glue the oval on top of the stalk, not behind. Now that your head is finished, you can use the pen to draw in the facial/ear features.

Step 4
This is a little tricky. Draw and and cut out an elongated oval shape with a cylinder poking out the top for the body. It may take several tries to get the body to head size ratio right, but if you are careful, it'll turn out okay. This is the body, glue it under the head.

Now, you need to do the feet. This also can get a little difficult. Draw and cut out two tapered tree trunk shapes for the feet. Just making them rigid poles won't work well, they need to get at least a little wider at the paw area. You can consult the official Aisha image if you need help.

Step 5
Cut out the two funny shapes shown below. These are the back legs. Try and make them as identical as possible. Glue them to your Aisha from behind.

Step 6
Now, cut out a thin red band for the collar. Make it longer than you need, it's easier to just tuck it behind the Aisha and glue it there than try and cut out a small bit that covers only the front. The folded paper in the back may want to pop up. In that case, put more glue on it and hold it secure it for a few minutes.

Step 7
We're almost done! Glue the magnet to the back of the Aisha, and let it dry a little.

Step 8
And just when you thought I forgot. Sketch and cut out a little "A" shape and glue it to the bottom of the collar. It's nearly impossible to cut out the middle part of the A and still keep it intact, so I'd recommend just drawing it in, like I did.

Step 9
Ta-dah! You're done! Be sure to clean up all of those tiny paper bits. Nothing will irk your parents more than tiny bits of paper scattered all over the floor (trust me, I know) ;) Feel free to stick your new magnet anywhere! (Just don't get it near your computer!)

If you want to really customize your Aisha to fit your pet's personality, or maybe if you just want to pretty it up, you can add all kind of fun things to the magnet. Wings, horns, a long tail, earrings, claws, spots, stripes, you name it! These can either be colored on or also cut out of paper. Have fun!
