Random Events: Good, Bad, or Taking Advantage?

Written by: Rachel

Everyone knows there are good and bad random events, but you may ask yourselves what I mean by ‘taking advantage’. How can you be taking advantage of anyone by getting a random event? But have you ever stopped to think about where everything you ‘find’ on the floor comes from?

I have two theories on the subject. Things may well appear out of thin air in Neopia- there are stranger things that happen! But, equally as likely, some other poor Neopian somewhere is having a bad random event at exactly the same time. Just as you 'find a mystical codestone on the floor', they lose one.

If you ask me, this is taking advantage. Normally if you were walking along the street and you found someone’s wallet on the floor with money in it you wouldn’t think, 'Oh wow, I just found some money!'

You would think, 'Oh dear, someone has lost this money!'

Why is Neopia any different?

If Neopia were like earth then we would spend the next 20 minutes after finding something on the floor looking for the unfortunate Neopian who dropped it.

If we lost something on Earth, we would spend ages going back where we lost it to look for it again. We would try and retrace our steps, and look everywhere we could think of. If you retraced your steps in Neopets to start with you, would be hitting the F5 key for 10 minutes, and chances are you would drop something else on the floor and make some other Neopian very happy!

Following the track of my other theory- things appearing out of nowhere. Where do they come from? It must all come from somewhere. Is there some faerie that can create items and Neopoints and gives them away? Is this what the Snow Faerie does with all the useless stuff she asks us to collect?

Maybe the items and Neopoints we find on the floor all the time are chemical reactions and eventually the ground in Neopia central will cave in, as there will be nothing left and reveal to us... JELLY WORLD!

Okay, ignore that last paragraph; it was my scientific imaginative side coming out! But I still think I have a valid point... where does it all come from?
