Frankelope's Great Adventure - Part One

Written by: Twinkle

Frankelope is an Elepig. Obviously, being the only known cross-breed on the planet causes some problems for him but the evil scientist hippos can’t help. Maybe I should start at the very beginning, it is a very good place to start after all, as Julie Andrews once sang.

It all started when a lowly pig and a humble elephant crossed eyes over the safari park. It was love at first sight.

Maybe it was Penelope’s piggy little eyes or Frank’s large muscular trunk but there was a chemistry between this odd couple which defied all laws of nature, physics and the in-built reaction to scream manically and run off.

That night, Frank the Elephant and Penelope the Pig eloped to the big, dark woods in Big Dark Wood Land and set up a rather cramped, yet homely abode on a high and lonely mountain. Although the woods were big and dark they were also breathtakingly beautiful. The Ele-pig family home overlooked a deep and striking river, surrounded by trees with lush, green foliage. All was quiet and peaceful. The Ele-pig family had finally found their home.

Needless to say, they had their problems at first but most relationships do, and for the most part, they were extremely happy together. After two years of illegally married bliss (you really do not want to know how in the world they got married. Ask no questions and I will tell you no lies.) little Frankelope came along. Well ‘little’ is an understatement really, he is half elephant, and half pig for crying out loud! This Elepig was, to his proud parents delight, the nicest, sweetest, most caring Elepig that has ever lived.

With his piggy little eyes, large muscular trunk, off pink colouring and inane grin, he looked like a typical cross-breed.

Unfortunately, it became obvious that Frankelope was to be shunned from the animal kingdom as cross-breeding is immoral. Even for love. Poor Frankelope grew up as a recluse, rejected as the most rejected of rejects, with no friends and only his mother, father and pet sock Victor for company.

Even more unfortunately, a lonely, socially starved, natural freak would always be a target for evil wrong-doings. Our story ends upon that fateful day when Professor Q. Hippo took a rather unnatural interest in our shy hero…

What happens next? Who knows? Tune in next week for another installment of “Frankelope’s Great Adventure!
