Committed? No thanks!

Written by: Xil

NBC's Committed is a show like no other, it's unique combination of non-stereotypical characters, quirky plot twists and Laugh-out-Loud funny situations will leave any viewer begging for me. Actually, to be totally honest, this is possibly the worst show to hit the airwaves since Enterprise, yeah--you heard me--Enterprise.

Committed revolves around the lives of two twenty-somethings in New York, just trying to "make sense" of this little thing we call "love". Unfortuntately for us, NBC slotted this new "big hit" into the 9:30(est) time slot, meaning high quality programming, such as Scrubs was shot down to 9:00. Not to be incredibly mean or anything, but who would push down a TV show with a huge following?! Oh yeah...money hugging monsters!

Committed has came out at a time when some of TV's greatest gems decided to cash their chips in, shows like Friends(which I beg to differ about it being a gem) and Frasier have both left TV land, leaving many networks thirsting for that large plot of land that was left when the oldies uprooted.

I'm all for a good sitcom, I mean, they are the North American way(har har =P), but when it's a blatant rip off of another show I didn't like except with an overdose of stereotype and lame pop culture references, I can guarantee you that my eyes won't be able to roll any more after one episode.

Essentially, the creator of Committed, Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline, took Friends, killed off two characters, added a desperate blonde, changed Ross's name to Nate, cut Pheobe's legs off and curled her hair..then stuck them together--Oh, and added a dying clown in for good measure. The one character that they did create, Bowie (played by Darius McCrary), is a stereotypical black guy who must be cringing while playing this role, I feel for him. Nate's mentally impaired mother adds nothing to the show. Bowie's loving family reminds me more of Big Mamma's house than anything. As well, the repetition of the pop culture refernce makes me want to tear my ears off. In last week's episode, Marni (played by Jennifer Finnigan) kept bringing up how Nate took her to see Van Helsing, a recent box office flop, It was funny the first time she brought it up, but by the end, she must have said it at least thirty times. The worst thing is that I can't even think of a way to improve this show-- I'm betting that the finale of the season will be the clown dying... but then again, I've always been an optimist.

I'm glad this show isn't doing well, two seasons would drive me up the wall! Thank you viewers of the world, for disregarding this pile of crap the same way a real New Yorker would! Committed airs at 9:30 (EST) on NBC, even if the only thing you should be committed to is missing it.
