:I'm all for a disambiguation page. The article [[Neopet]] will speak of the different types/species of Neopets (which is what i think you mean by characters). Neopets is the plurl of Neopet, while saying Neopets refers to the website. This may not refer to the Neopets movie, though i'm sure t ''will'' have Neopets in its title as the video games did, so for now placing the Neopets film link on the disambiguation page will be fine. --[[User:Jacob|Jacob]] 19:16, 30 Dec 2006 (CST)

'''BUMP!!!''' I thought the naming issue was settled long ago, but we need to look at it again. The current title of this article has been set back to Neopets, not neopets the website (or whatever we were calling it). Neopets is supposed to be the plurl of [[Neopet]], the article which speaks of the Neopet in general. This confusion needs to be settled. Also converse in the [[Talk:Neopets_(disambiguation)|disambiguation article]] if you wish. Needs settling. :( --[[User:Jacob|Jacob]] 16:37, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
::Semantically, I think this makes sense. If were make the sentence "Illusen is an Earth Faerie", we would want to link "Earth Faerie" ("<nowiki>Illusen is an [[Earth Faerie]]</nowiki>"), and we want the link to point to the same place in the sentence "All the Earth Faeries gathered" ("<nowiki>All the [[Earth Faerie]]s gathered</nowiki>") - even though it is plural, semantically, we mean the same thing when we link it.
::In the (part of a) sentence, "... Random Events, where random happenings around <nowiki>[[Neopets]]</nowiki>...", we don't mean "Neopets" in the same sense we mean it in "All the <nowiki>[[Neopet]]</nowiki>s gathered..." or "The Cybunny is a Limited Edition <nowiki>[[Neopet]]</nowiki>" - if you wanted to write about Neopets the website, you would ''never'' refer to it as "Neopet", because "Neopets" the website isn't "Neopet" pluralised, it's a proper name.
::So, we can use "<nowiki>[[Neopet]]s</nowiki>" to mean "more than one <nowiki>[[Neopet]]</nowiki>" - i.e. it's just the "Neopet" part of it that needs to be linked; or we can use "<nowiki>[[Neopets]]</nowiki>" to mean "the website called '<nowiki>[[Neopets]]</nowiki>'", where all of the word needs to be linked.
::That's what I think, anyway. Hope that makes sense ;P --[[User:Macbeth|Macbeth]] 16:56, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
:::Do you believe the confusion will be stemmed as long as we give all articles with Neopet in the name a disclaimer at the top (similar to the one this has right now)? Cookie grabbing[edit]

Ok, I have seen several sites that people have said that they can hack into, or get someone elses password is this true can they do this?

yes, i've heard it's true, but don't let that stop you from playing the website in fear. during times of "cookie grabbing panic", be sure to refrain from untrustworthy cutomizable pages. Even better, you can use the Mozilla Firefox Browser for more protection as well.

more information on attacks and protection on the PinkPT Forums (this comes to mind as well). --Jacob 11:31, 1 Mar 2006 (CST)

Sources Identified[edit]

Much of the content in this article is shared from the Wikipedia article. While it is free source, credit must be given to the proper people who added to it.--Jacob 12:37, 3 Apr 2006 (CDT)

Rename?[edit]

Propose renaming to "Neopets (Website)", and a new page about the pets themselves ("Neopets (Characters)"?) and a disambiguation at Neopets for the website, the pets, and the film? --Macbeth 08:32, 29 Dec 2006 (CST)

May I suggest to add something like "This page is about the website Neopets. For other meanings, see Neopets (disambiguation)." to the article? I think most users would search for the website, not for the characters or even the film. --Demon 08:47, 29 Dec 2006 (CST)

We are more likely, I think, to use "Neopets" in an article referring to the characters... --Macbeth 09:14, 29 Dec 2006 (CST)

I'm all for a disambiguation page. The article Neopet will speak of the different types/species of Neopets (which is what i think you mean by characters). Neopets is the plurl of Neopet, while saying Neopets refers to the website. This may not refer to the Neopets movie, though i'm sure t will have Neopets in its title as the video games did, so for now placing the Neopets film link on the disambiguation page will be fine. --Jacob 19:16, 30 Dec 2006 (CST)
Finished the disambiguation page. will now be fixing all the redirects it has obviously broken. Work is fun. :D --Jacob 21:30, 9 Jan 2007 (CST)

BUMP!!! I thought the naming issue was settled long ago, but we need to look at it again. The current title of this article has been set back to Neopets, not neopets the website (or whatever we were calling it). Neopets is supposed to be the plurl of Neopet, the article which speaks of the Neopet in general. This confusion needs to be settled. Also converse in the disambiguation article if you wish. Needs settling. :( --Jacob 16:37, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Semantically, I think this makes sense. If were make the sentence "Illusen is an Earth Faerie", we would want to link "Earth Faerie" ("Illusen is an [[Earth Faerie]]"), and we want the link to point to the same place in the sentence "All the Earth Faeries gathered" ("All the [[Earth Faerie]]s gathered") - even though it is plural, semantically, we mean the same thing when we link it.
In the (part of a) sentence, "... Random Events, where random happenings around [[Neopets]]...", we don't mean "Neopets" in the same sense we mean it in "All the [[Neopet]]s gathered..." or "The Cybunny is a Limited Edition [[Neopet]]" - if you wanted to write about Neopets the website, you would never refer to it as "Neopet", because "Neopets" the website isn't "Neopet" pluralised, it's a proper name.
So, we can use "[[Neopet]]s" to mean "more than one [[Neopet]]" - i.e. it's just the "Neopet" part of it that needs to be linked; or we can use "[[Neopets]]" to mean "the website called '[[Neopets]]'", where all of the word needs to be linked.
That's what I think, anyway. Hope that makes sense ;P --Macbeth 16:56, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Do you believe the confusion will be stemmed as long as we give all articles with Neopet in the name a disclaimer at the top (similar to the one this has right now)? It seems like a fine thing to do, just as long as all the current text flows as such. --Jacob 17:03, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
