A Pile of Soot

The Pile of Soot is a Petpet released on August 3, 2005 that is only available from the Petpet Laboratory. Any Petpet can become a Pile of Soot. Its body is essentially the remains of the Petpet, with the only mention of it having a body being its two remaining eyes. Some users view this as a negative effect of the Petpet Laboratory. The first time you get a Petpet turned into a Pile of Soot from the Petpet Laboratory you get an avatar. Most users use cheap, unwanted Petpets to get a Pile of Soot.

Trivia

• Due to the Pile of Soot being a result of the Petpet Laboratory, it's not an item. Petpets will revert to their original form when they are disowned by their Neopet owner.
• A Neopet with a Pile of Soot attached to it can not be put into the pound.
• One time, on (unknown date), a Pile of Soot Petpet was spotted in the Trading Post as a rarity 98-99 item.
• On December 9, 2008 a Christmas Pile of Soot was released as an Advent Calendar prize. This is probably the only way to get a Pile of Soot without access to the Petpet Laboratory.
