Because Petpets that have been zapped by the Petpet Lab Ray revert back to their original form when removed from their Neopet, the Pile of Soot can not be placed in a user's inventory and thus cannot be sold or traded.

The '''Pile of Soot''' is a [[Petpet]], the result of it being zapped in the [[Petpet Laboratory]]. Any Petpet is capable of becoming a Pile of Soot. Its body is essentially the remains of the Petpet, with the only mention of it having a body being its two remaining eyes.

The Pile of Soot is a Petpet that is only available from the Petpet Laboratory. According to the item description, a Pile of Soot is the result of a Petpet Lab Ray malfunction. Because Petpets that have been zapped by the Petpet Lab Ray revert back to their original form when removed from their Neopet, the Pile of Soot can not be placed in a user's inventory and thus cannot be sold or traded.
