The National Neopian Bank is the center of all commerce within all Neopia. Residing within Neopia Central, all Neopets and users keep their Neopoints safely placed within this bank's secure storage safes. Users who have a certain number of NP placed within their walls have a special interest rate they can place on their stored money, netting them a yearly interest.

Originally, the National Neopian worked like a real bank, and users could take out loans at March 21, 2000. Accounts began to be debited on March 23, 2000, taking an amount of NP each day. On May 20, 2000, this feature was taken away and never came back because too many users were abusing the system.

• If you want to know how much NP approximately you will need in your bank for X amount of NP per day multiply the number in the table that corresponds to your interest rate by X
• x is the amount of NP in your bank
• y is the amount of NP per day
• z is the interest rate (the number, if its 12% just input 12)
• y/(x/36500)=z
• (x/36500)*z=y
• (y/z)*36500=x
• 36500 is the product of 100% and 365 days in a year, I can only wonder how they do it for leap years

• NOTE: Figures in table above are rounded up, for exacting precision use the formula, also note that the bank rounds up (for the purpose of giving NP in interest).

Collecting Interest

The interest is calculated as a daily distribution, rounded up. However, you have to collect your daily interest manually. To do this, visit the bank everyday. Before you make any transactions, find the "collect interest" button and click on it. If you do any transaction (deposit or withdraw) before you collect your interest, you will give up your interest of that day.

Safety Deposit Box

Added February 29, 2000, the safety deposit box (SDB for short) is a free service provided with an account at the National Neopian. It can store as many items as a user wants. Any items kept in the safety deposit box are safe from the Pant Devil, Sludging etc. It also means users can carry more items by placing items from their inventory into the SDB. Users access the Safety Deposit Box by clicking on the "Shops" task bar button and then on the "safe" image in the toolbar.
