Multiple Accounts

Introduction

Neopets has always been strict about multiple accounts. However, they've never really given us a definitive answer on what is, and isn't allowed. Hopefully this page will shed some light on this. If you personally have any information, please add it to this page.

Official Neopets' Statements

Your main account must be the only account you use for daily Neopoint-gaining activities such as flash games, Tombola, Coltzan's Shrine, Fruit Machine, Snowager, Kiosk, Mystery Pic etc...

You may have up to 4 other accounts for guilds, galleries, storage, and extra neopets (which we hope are fed on a daily basis!)

If you already have more than 4 accounts, but do not use them to make Neopoints, don't worry thats fine - just please don't create any more.

Just to re-iterate, creating multiple accounts to gain extra Neopoints with is NOT allowed. It is unfair to people who play by the rules, and heavily scorned upon by the Neopets Team. Please don't do it, and when your accounts are frozen please dont email us asking for them back, because they will never be unfrozen.

Just a quick warning, we are getting VERY strict with multiple accounts. We will freeze anybody who creates multiple accounts in order to gain a financial (neopoint) advantage over others. Basically, if you have a couple of extra accounts to store neopets, or items, or a guild that is fine. However, if you log into multiple accounts on a daily basis and use Coltzan's Shrine, Tombola etc. to get neopoints... then wave bye-bye to ALL your accounts.

You are allowed to have up to 5 accounts if you want to own more than 4 Neopets or run a gallery, guild, or a second shop, (no longer allowed: see below) but freebies that give out prizes like Tombola and Coltzan's Shrine can only be used once per person, regardless of how many accounts you have. So just alternate between accounts each day you use the freebies. You may switch items between accounts once in a while, just do not turn your second account into an account that gains Neopoints for your main account. You may also play games for Neopoints (also no longer allowed), use the Healing Springs (still alowed) and get Omelettes (also no longer allowed!) on the other accounts as long as you keep them in that account. **thanks to vastluvr for this information.

You May Only Have Five Accounts Because Your Pets Need Your Attention. It is important that Neopets users are responsible for their pets and play the game in a fair manner. Therefore, do not create more accounts or Neopets than you can maintain. You are allowed a maximum of five (5) accounts. One of these accounts, your main account, can do everything on Neopets. The other four accounts (except if one is a guild account as explained below) can adopt Neopets and maintain a gallery but cannot have a store, play games or any other activity that earns Neopoints or participate in any voting activities. You may freely transfer items among your accounts but they should be on the same e-mail address as your main account. If you are the head of a guild, you may use one of your five accounts as a guild account and it should be named as such (for example, Abandoned Computer Chips Orphanage guild account). In addition to your main account, a guild account can have a store but cannot earn Neopoints in any manner other than through the store, auctions and trades (and anything that happens on that account could impact your other accounts). If you maintain a guild account, you will be held responsible for that account. You are permitted only one guild account per guild.

This unfortunatly means that the previous rules permitting more than one shop are no longer valid and that you may only have one shop unless its is a guild account also you may no longer alternate which account you use for the dailies as you should only have 1 main account and up to 4 spares.

Questions Left Unanswered

Myself, my wife and our daughter all play Neopets and we all have our own account which is each individuals main account. Therefore we each play games do the Dailies and so on. Currently due to some nasty bugs on the net we are down to one computer. So on some days we each may get a "shift" on the computer to deal with our own account. Will this lead to one or all of our accounts being frozen? When they were set up over a year ago we had 3 computers but as stated only one remains alive.

• I have a classmate who plays Neopets, and, because of studying, he cant play it now, and he asked me to make the daylies, Will one of our acoounts be frozen???, because I also use my account for the daylies..., OH!, and I have two little brothers, each one of us has a different account, and they sometimes give me some useful items, because I'm kind with them. The question is: Will one of our account be frozen???
  • At one stage this would have been no. However Neopets has suffered a little since it was sold. I would advize emailing the staff and telling them what the situation is that you could be in and asking them thier opinion in advance then if anything happens you can say "but you said". This is the current answer reported in the Neopian Times in the editortial on teh 9th Celebrating Y7 (9 december 2005 in the normal callender)

"A few of my friends who are not able to get on Neopets every day have asked me to get on their accounts and get their advent calendar prizes for them. I've been doing it, but I'm terrified that I'll get myself, and all my friends, frozen for "having multiple accounts". Can you assure me that you have a way to know that I'm not on multiple accounts? ~ [removed] Whoa whoa. Yeah, stop now. PUT THE MOUSE DOWN!

You CANNOT log into another user's account to play Neopets for them, and getting someone their dailies (including Advent) is indeed playing the site. It's not the multiple account thing you have to worry about... you're all cheating and that's definitely not allowed. They're cheating by asking you to play for them and giving you their account information, and you're cheating by playing the site for someone else. Tell your friends to stop being slackers and get their own freebies, and for Fyora's sake, stay out of their accounts so you don't get frozen."

this alsong with old versions of the terms and conditions states that all shared accounts are strictly prohibited and will result in the shared account and all accounts of the holders of the shared account being perminantly frozen! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

The owner of Avatar (the Darigan Eyrie) was frozen for "having multiple accounts and encouraging others to do the same." (What the owner of Avatar said TNT told them) They were frozen for having only TWO accounts. This is COMPLETELY unfair.

• It has been my experience that if all the accounts from different family members use the same email addresss they are prone to automatic freezing. Whereas if they use different addresses, it is less likely (still not impossible) that they will be frozen.

• My 3 best friends and I share an account. Will all of our accounts get frozen just because we use dailies on this account and our mains?

• TNT does not allow you to share accounts with friends (or anyone for that matter) for your own good! If there was an argument between the account holders it would be easy enough for one of them to change the accounts email and password and take the credit of BOTH or ALL of your work for themselves. Even if you know you can trust the person it is still against the rules. Your account represents your OWN hard work and effort so for this reason you may NOT ask others to do dailies for you.
