The Gulper has been selected for the [[Petpet Protection League]] award three times:


When the Aquatic Petpets fled from [[Maraqua]] and took refuge on [[Mystery Island]], they were all redrawn. This meant that they either just were drawn up to date with [[Neopets (website)|Neopets]]' new looks and kept their original name and appearance, or were completely [[List of Petpet redesigns|redesigned]] and given a new look and name. The Gulper is the only exception, as it did get a redesign, but kept its old name. Its old [[Wikipedia:Whale|whale]]-like design is slightly referred to in its description.

It is not impossible to still own the old design Gulper (which was like a whale). Any Petpet who was attached to a [[Neopet (species)|Neopet]] at the time of the change will stay the same until it is removed. This means only a very few people still have an old design Gulper.

Old Design[edit]

During the time of Old Maraqua, the Gulper had a whale-like design. Shortly after the destruction of Maraqua, the Gulper was redrawn and updated to its current design. Petpets that were attached to a Neopet during this update were not effected. This means that there are still a few users that have the older version of the Gulper attached to one of their Neopets. Whenever one of these remaining older version Gulpers is removed from its Neopet, it is immediately converted into the newer design.
