The Rainbow Swirly Thing is a Battledome Equipment item, released in the Hidden Tower on September 27, 2001. In the Battledome it randomly reflects all elemental attack icons back at a user. Which element it reflects is different each time. While unpredictable, it's enjoyed by the population all the same due to being pretty. In the 1-Player Battledome, Chiazilla uses the Rainbow Swirly Thing.
