:Yes, there certainly has been! There are several captcha options we can look at - ConfirmEdit and ReCAPTCHA extensions - and certainly will do if this keeps up in the long term. I don't have server access myself, but I've e-mailed Kym about disabling account creations temporarily. Team Tyrannia
Known for their brute force and slushie slinging skills, this is a middle tier team that can really surprise you.

Colour
:Main Article: Tyrannian

On January 7, 2001, TNT announced that the old Glass coloured pets would be turned into Tyrannian. Aside from the Tyrannian Paint Brush, users can paint their Neopets using the Lab Ray, Morphing Potions or Rainbow Fountain.

As of March 2010, 39 Neopets and 48 Petpets are available in the Tyrannian colour...

Trivia
Originally, Tyrannia had three maps to its name: the Jungle, the Plateau to the North, and the Volcano even further north. After The Tyrannian Invasion, the volcano map was removed on the August 15, 2001, and the volcano's shops and games moved down to the Plateau. Visiting the volcano now results in a 1-Player Challenger appearing and challenging the user in the Battledome on their first visit, while later visits result in the user being shooed back to the Plateau. Also in this change, The Time Machine, a Kitchen Quest like game, was removed.

Climate
The northern area, which is the plateau, is usually dry with little rain, while the southern part is more of a tropical climate, with wetter weather.
The Virtupets Space Station - later referred to as Virtupets Orbital Space Station #4 - is an space station brought into Neopia orbit by Dr. Frank Sloth during the course of the Arrival of Virtupets plot, using it as a stronghold and from which he intended to fire a mutation ray in order to transfigure Neopets into his slaves.

After Dr. Sloth's plan was thwarted, the Space Station remained in orbit, abandoned. It was re-inhabited by Neopians where it became much like a futuristic arcade. It became a popular tourist destination, despite the re-emergence of one of Dr. Sloth's old projects, Neopet Version 2, which kidnapped four visitors until the machine was deactivated.

The Lost Desert is an arid region in Neopia's southern hemisphere. It was discovered by the rest of Neopia as part of the Brucey B and the Lucky Coin plot, when Brucey B managed to travel south through the Haunted Woods. The Desert is shared by two kingdoms, the second of which was introduced following the Lost Desert Plot.

For the most part, the Lost Desert has an Ancient Egyptian theme, but also shows Arabic and ancient Persian stylistic elements.

The Kingdoms in the Lost Desert
There are two cities in the current Lost Desert. There is the city of Sakhmet, capital of the most prosperous area of the Desert, and the newly rediscovered city of Qasala, which is in ruins but currently being repopulated. Shortly after its discovery, Dr. Frank Sloth invaded the Lost Desert and attacked Sakhmet, succeeding in taking the Sakhmetian palace before his forces were beaten back and the magic Staff of Alhasutek was destroyed.

Sakhmet
A city of spires and domes, Sakhmet is constructed predominantly of sandstone. It was occupied by Dr Sloth when he invaded, and he managed to build a space-worthy escape pod into one of the towers. The Royal Palace of Sakhmet is one of the most stunning structures in the Neopian World.

The Sakhmetian Royal Family went through a time of turbulence after the Lost Desert was discovered. Following the poisoning of King Coltzan III in a move to usurp the throne, and the Royal Family held an investigation in which it drafted in the users to analyse the case, with the promised reward of items from the Royal Treasury (priceless Battle Scarabs). After the case was closed, a shrine was erected in the King's honour, in which was placed his Crown, which was said to be inhabited by the ghost of Coltzan. As the shrine was unveiled, however, it emerged that the cunning Malkus Vile, a crime lord, had had the crown stolen - The Hunt for the Crown was on. Since the crown was returned, the Ghost of Coltzan blesses Neopets who mourn at his obelisk.

The Royal Family of Sakhmet went under another turbulent time, when the Princess Amira (who had inherited the throne from Coltzan III) received Prince Jazan IV of Qasala who demanded her hand in marriage based on some document of betrothment he had gathered from somewhere. He believed that marrying a Sakhmetain Princess would restore his lands and people, so when the Princess refused, he stole the City away with dark magic, where it became plagued by his demons. When he fell in love with Nabile (who could be seen as a princess of thieves, though her mother was Princess Neera so technically she is a real princess, as a matter of fact, she's Princess Amira's cousin), they married and Jazan restored Sakhmet, but his land did not prosper again and in fact the prophecy he fulfilled brought back to life his wicked, power-mad father Razul who attacked the Lost Desert until he was stopped.

Qasala
A once-beautiful city that fell on hard times and is now mostly in ruins after being obliterated 200 years ago by a sandstorm. Amongst the ruined buildings lie caches of histories and magic. One of the more notable buildings is the Temple of 1,000 Tombs.

This once thriving city had a very well respected Royal Family, until Razul cursed his own people, and his own son, Jazan, and laid down a prophecy that would enable him to live again after his death. Both Razul and Jazan controlled considerable sorcery. Since then, it has been haunted by the Spirit of the Ruins, a Grundo-like spirit.

Activities in the Lost Desert
The Lost Desert has a large number of shops, such as Lady Osiri's Pottery, Sutek's Scrolls, Battle Supplies and Desert Arms, and Qasalan Delights. There are also several daily-events, such as Coltzan's Shrine, the Fruit Machine, and the Lost Desert Scratchcard Kiosk. Other games in the Lost Desert include Tug of War and Swarm.

Yooyuball
Team Lost Desert
Lost Desert was hovering around the cup for four years and only had two bronze medals to show for it. But in 2010, they finally won the cup with their outstanding defense.

Colour
:Main Article: Desert

Desert is is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. In general, Desert pets are light brown in colour and are dressed in desert themed clothing. The Desert colour for Neopets was released on June 22, 2001, and the Desert colour for Petpets was released on September 26, 2007

Climate
The climate for Lost Desert is generally hot, and it's usually the hottest place in all of Neopia. In the summer, the temperature is usually around 50 degrees and it almost never rains. In the winter, it's much cooler than the summer, but is still very warm, and it occasionally rains.
Terror Mountain is a snow covered land located on Neopia's northern ice cap. It is divided into three major areas: Happy Valley, the Ice Caves, and the Top of the Mountain.

Happy Valley
Released on November 9, 2000, Happy Valley is a small, scenic town located at the base of Terror Mountain. It is a peaceful, snow-covered place where Neopets can be found happily frolicking in the snow.

The Ice Caves are a series of sparkling caves made entirely of ice and snow. Located deep within a glacier, these icy caverns are beautiful but extremely cold. Despite their remote location, the Ice Caves have number of excellent activities to enjoy, making them some what of a tourist attraction.

When the Ice Caves were first released on December 4, 2000, users could only enter if they had a special Ice Totem item. This requirement was quickly dropped however, and today users do not need a totem to enter the Ice Caves.
This harsh landscape is constantly battered by blistering cold winds and blinding snowfalls. Because of this, only the most resilient Neopians make their homes here.
Yooyuball
Team Terror Mountain
In 2006, Terror Mountain's Yooyuball team consisted entirely of highly paid free agents that, while individually very talented, couldn't find a way to come to together and play as a team. After their crushing defeat by the Darigan Citadel in Altador Cup I, Terror Mountain's management began to rebuild the team from the ground up, starting with the signing of Osielle Lidel in 2007. Over the past few years, the team has slowly been improving, and in 2010, Terror Mountain had their best showing ever, placing 9th overall in Altador Cup V.

Shenkuu is a mountainous land far North of Altador in Neopia. It was made available on September 8, 2006 after the Cyodrake's Gaze plot. Like the name suggests, Shenkuu is a Chinese themed world, although it takes its design from both China and Japan. Shenkuu has been unknown to Neopians for centuries, only to be revealed by the crew of the Cyodrake's Gaze after they received help from users. Its citizens are cautious of visitors, though this isn't explained why, but nonetheless they have welcomed visitors from all over Neopia, spreading their trade (as it is a merchant town).

Yooyuball
Team Shenkuu
While Team Shenkuu has had success a Yooyuball team, usually in cup contention, their performance slipped in Altador Cup V.

Weather
Shenkuu has a relatively wet climate, often having scattered showers across the region, and the game Key Quest has a mini-game based on the rain showers there.

Trivia
*The name Shenkuu was first revealed on the Kou-jong game page accidentally at its first release.
*A Neopedia article about Shenkuu was released on September 30, 2006, but wasn't uploaded into the servers until October 2, 2006. When users clicked the link in New Features until this point, they encountered a page saying that Neopedia article didn't exist.
*Shenkuu was was one of the candidates for the Best Place to Live category during the 2008 Neopies.

Roo Island is a Mini-World in Neopia ruled by King Roo, a Blumaroo. It is a small (approximately 50 miles by 100 miles) island situated 30 miles east off the coast of Neopia Central and connected by a rainbow.

Blumaroos
Roo Island is heavily populated with Blumaroos. According to a survey done for an old Neopedia article, 95% of the population of 275,000 inhabitants are Blumaroos (4/5 Blumaroos are born there). Several of the buildings are designed to resemble Blumaroos, particularly the palace of King Roo, and the Colouring Pages building is reminiscent of a Blumaroo tail. For those non-Blumaroos, all buildings in the shopping district are shaped like little huts.

Mystery Island is a tropical island of Neopia, discovered on 3rd August 2000. It is noted for its native population of the Coconut People and a giant volcano.

Mystery Island has become a major tourist resort, features many games, shops, the Trading Post, and the first Training School. There is a tour of the island an owner can take their Neopets on for a small fee.

The Island is home to the Faerie Jhuidah, who overlooks the Cooking Pot and the Trading Post. For some time, the Island held a giant golden statue of Donna, who won the Sacrificers plot, and recently the Lost City of Geraptiku was rediscovered.

Mystery Island is also the site of many of Jake the adventurer's exploits.

Natives of Mystery Island
In addition to the tribes of Coconut People, Mystery Island is also where the Kougra species originates from. Mystery Island is home to The Techo Master and Ryshu of the Training School, as well as the Tiki Tack Man and Island Mystic. The inhabitants of the Lost City of Geraptiku, however, have never been discovered.

The island has also become the adopted home of Petpet refugees that came to the Rock Pool following the destruction of Old Maraqua, and is one of the destinations that can be chosen to build a Neohome.

Further more, Island is one is is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. Island pets have tan skin with white markings. They are dressed with an assortment of tropical themed accessories, such as flowers, shell necklaces, and grass skirts. The Island colour for Neopets was released on June 26, 2002, and the Island colour for Petpets was released on October 1, 2003

Yooyuball
Team Mystery Island
Not known for their consistency, but for their ability to upset even the best teams, Mystery Island can be a contender for the cup if they can win on a regular basis.

Climate
In the summer, the weather is usually very hot, at around 40 degrees, with very little rain, but it is usually very wet in the late fall and winter months with lots of rain and sometimes snow.
Moltara is a subterranean land that was introduced on November 12, 2009 as part of the Atlas of the Ancients plot. Located 7,000 feet under Neopia's surface, Moltara is built upon a series of lava tunnels and magma lakes. The only entrance to Moltara is an immense door that sits on a remote island archipelago just east of Maraqua. Moltara is divided into two major areas: Moltara City and the Moltara Caves.
With a design inspired by real-world steampunk fiction, Moltara City is filled with cogs, gears, and roaring machinery. Built over a network of magma rivers and steam vents, the city is constantly bombarded by heat and steam. Despite this, the citizens of Moltara City, led by their democratically elected Mayor, are generally warm and welcoming.

In the Champions of Meridell plot, Lisha and her friends had to travel 300 years into the past in order to reach Meridell. However, the idea that Meridell exists only Neopia's past has since been dropped from Neopets canon, and in recent plots, such as the Altador Cup, it is implied that Meridell exists at the same time as the other lands of Neopia.

Maraqua is an underwater land discovered on October 6, 2000. The name is given to two underwater kingdoms, one of which was destroyed and is currently in ruins. In order to distinguish between the two cities, the historic city is referred to as Old Maraqua and the modern New Maraqua. Maraqua is not the only underwater settlement - see Kiko Lake - but it is the only salt water one as of yet discovered.

Old Maraqua
The Destruction
:Main Article: The Destruction of Maraqua

Was destroyed by a whirlpool on August 18, 2001, following a flash movie released the previous day (17th August 2001) in which the Pirate Captain Dread, a skeletal Kiko, sailed to Maraqua in a submarine known in fanlore as The Revenge. Here, he demanded his annual 'protection money' from the then King Koi, who refused to pay (giving reasons such as a 'poor Kelp Harvest'). From the tone of this conversation, it can be presumed that Captain Dread regularly came for this money. The whirlpool is believed to be the result of a curse from this Pirate. The whirlpool, said to be ten miles wide, lasted until the 31st May 2002, where is finally subsided to reveal the Ruins of Maraqua.

Attractions of the Original Maraqua
Maraqua once housed the Underwater Kitchen Quests, later relocated to Mystery Island, and was the sole supplier of Utility Fish, which are now all retired and very expensive. TNT stated once that they originally planned for Utility Fish to be used as NeoHome utilities. Maraqua also sold Aquatic PetPets (most of which were redesigned and are being sold on Mystery Island). The Aquatic Foods Shop also disappeared, retiring the shop items, only to be replaced by Kelp in New Maraqua, with new foods.

After the whirlpool ruined the city, the Ruins began to be populated again, first by a gigantic Slug Monster, then by a Mysterious Statue (believed to be of the Darkest Faerie), then by a Bubbling Pit (listing all the available Maraqua-coloured Neopets), then by an Underwater Fishing area. The discovery and open trade with New Maraqua has promoted people re-entering the ruins, and it remains to be seen whether more will be made of this area.

New Maraqua
After the whirlpool destroyed the original city, King Kelpbeard set about building a new, more splendid city, with a strong army to protect it from its enemies. However, information of this was learnt by an armada of pirates, who set out to conquer the nation.

History
As part of the Curse of Maraqua plot, Maraqua was rebuilt with the intention of being stronger than its predecessor so as to withstand any future Pirate attacks. New Maraqua has a standing army lead by Swordmaster Talek, something Old Maraqua didn't appear to have. When Captain Scarblade learned that there were surviving Maraquans, he lead another attack (this time with an army of pirates). They were fought off, however, in the plot.

Maractite
The Curse of Maraqua plot introduced the mineral maractite, capable of travelling effortlessly through water as though it was in air. Information provided in the CoM plot suggests that supplies of maractite are running thin. According to the Maractite Axe card (of the Neopets TCG), maractite slowly decays when exposed to air.

Attractions of New Maraqua
In addition to having shops selling maractite weaponry and furniture, Maraqua is also the sole supplier of collectable Sea Shells. There is a shop selling Maraquan PetPets, although, interestingly, none of the PetPets that were sold in Old Maraqua and now Mystery Island are being sold.

The restaurant Kelp, much like the Golden Dubloon on Krawk Island, sells highly priced meals, and an avatar is obtainable from it. It is frequently very busy, making entering the restaurant difficult.

Maraquan Architecture
Visually, Old Maraqua's structure was very different from New Maraqua's. Old Maraqua was built out of transparashield, and had the look of a futuristic ocean colony. The smooth, bubble-like windows seemed to imply that there was an atmosphere inside the buildings. New Maraqua has a very coral-like appearance, is made out of Maractite, and is open to the oceans.

Plot Replacements
In the Curse of Maraqua plot, several replacements were made to the characters from the original destruction movie. Captain Dread was replaced with Captain Scarblade, Captain Dread's unnamed sidekick Blumaroo was replaced with Benny the Blade, King Koi was replaced with King Kelpbeard, and The Revenge submarine with a boat of the same name.

The original destruction movie was removed after the Curse of Maraqua (the page it was found on now only redirects to the About Us page) due to these inconsistencies, but the movie file still exists on the servers.

Yooyuball
Team Maraqua

Maraqua is a middle tier team that has tried but failed to get into the top tier. This team has a bright future and will hopefully hoist the cup.

Colour
:Main Article: Maraquan

Maraquan is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. Maraquan pets resemble underwater creatures, both real and mythological. The Maraquan colour for Neopets was released on June 17, 2003, and the Maraquan colour for Petpets was released on April 21, 2004.

Climate
The water in Maraqua is usually cold because the weather above the ocean has a very cool climate. It's wet and rains almost every day in the summer with occasional amounts of snow, and for the other seasons, the temperature is below 0 degrees almost every day.

Trivia
*The Neopets Team gave a hint Maraqua would return in the Advent Calendar of December 27, 2004, which showed all current bands of the Concert Hall playing to a version of Do They Know It's Christmas? with the words "Rebuild Maraqua - Let them know Neopia loves them!". A Rebuild Maraqua Poster was given out as a prize on the same day.

Lutari Island is a tropical island on the other side of Neopia filled with Lutari. Released on June 24, 2006, Lutari Island is similar to Mystery Island in that its inhabitants and land it filled with wild colours and natives. It's a very mysterious island, as it's not rooted to the ground, but floats from place to place, never in the same place, and not available to regular users. This is also because Lutari Island is an exclusive island available only to users who pay for Neopets Mobile offered by In-fusio. As of June 2010, Lutari Island can no longer be accessed.

Some features of the Island:
*Lutari Savings Bank - A branch of of the National Neopian Bank.
*Survival Academy - a place where users can train their Neopet. Only accept feathers from their native birds as payment. (similar to the Swashbuckling Academy and Training School)
*Wheel of Happiness - Can be spun every 30 minutes for 100 Neopoints.
*Fluorescent Pools - a place where a user's Neopet can be healed. (similar to Healing Springs)
*Bog of Charity - A place similar to the Money Tree.
*Briana's Quest - Briana is an Air Faerie who will sometimes give out special Quests.

Climate
The weather is apparently stormy everyday, according for the users without Neopets Mobile, as stated on the Lutari Island page. That's why you can't really see it through the fog on neopets.

Criticism
Many users feel it's unfair to have Lutari Island only available to Neopets Mobile users, which can't be had because of the cost or the lack of a Cingular cellphone, similar to the way some users don't have Neopets Premium. Unlike Neopets Premium, however, Lutari Island is located on the map. The fact that the Lutari themselves can be neither traded nor pounded is also irksome.

Trivia
*An item named Lutari Paint Brush has been released however it is still unusable, as there are no Neopets that can currently be painted with it.
*Since the Neopets Mobile is now officially taken down, there have been many speculations about the future of Lutari Island. The exotic place might be soon accessible to the common user, however there have been no official details. The speculations are the following:
** Will it be accessible to all users?
** Will Lutari become an accessible pet?
** Will there be a Lutari Island plot?
** Will Lutari Island have its own team for Altador Cup 7?
Maybe the most underrated team in the league, Kreludor is not to be trifled with. Though they took a year off in 2007, they came back stronger than ever placing 6th, 4th and then 2nd. This is a solid team that you can expect great things from.
Krawk Island is a small tropical island eighty miles south of the coast of Mystery Island, discovered on 5 September 2001. It is inhabited by Krawks, a Petpet usually found in Tyrannia, and is a harbour of choice for Neopia's pirates.

Krawk Island is notable for its use of Dubloons as its primary currency, rather than the much more widely accepted Neopoints. It is the location of the Fungus Cave, which is where Krawk Petpets can be transformed into fully formed Neopet Krawks.

History
Krawk Island is made of many smaller island that have been towed together and anchored to the sea floor. The founders of the island did this to make it harder for the Dread Pirate Sherman to raid them - one large island is more defensible than many small ones. It was discovered by the rest of Neopia on 5 September 2001.

In 2006, it was one of the ports visited by the Cyodrake's Gaze.

In 2011, the Krawken broke up the island into small islets again. Gavril McGill, with the aid of Neopets players, retrieved the islets and redesigned the island. After the repairs were complete, Gavril appointed himself governor of the island and set about defending the island from being broken up in the future.

When Neovia was first released on October 6, 2006, it was abandoned and in ruins. However, after the conclusion of the Tale of Woe on November 21, 2006, the town was rebuilt. On this same day, the plot-specfic areas of Neovia, such as the abandoned mansion, the trail to Sophie's hut, and The Meepit Oaks Sanitorium for the Psychologically Fragile, were removed.

Faerieland is the home of the faeries, ruled by Fyora, the Faerie Queen. It formerly floated in a gigantic cloud 10,000 feet above Neopia, where it was free to move around the skies. During the events of The Faeries' Ruin plot, however, it fell and a crashed east of the Haunted Woods, and is currently under repair.

When Faerieland was first released, users could only enter if they had a special Faerie Totem item. This requirement was quickly dropped however, and today users do not need a totem to enter Faerieland.

Plot summary
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
Neopets: The Darkest Faerie

Faerieland was the location of the second act of the video game, and the climax of acts three and four. The Darkest Faerie had planned to crash Faerieland into Meridell so as to destroy both kingdoms, but her scheme was foiled by Roberta and Tormund. After she was turned back to stone, the Darkest Faerie was kept in Faerieland.

The Faeries' Ruin
The Faeries' Ruin

After the faeries had been turned to stone, most of the activities in Faerieland became unavailable as their operators had turned to stone. Faerieland also began to descend, beginning on 10 November 2010. As Xandra's ritual continued - ostensibly an attempt to save the city, but in reality intended to accelerate its crash - it continued to fall until it had crashed by 24 November.

Xandra revealed that the destruction of Faerieland had been symbolic of her mission to remove the faeries from Neopia, who she saw as "winged tyrants" because they rarely intervened in Neopet affairs despite their power to do so.

When the curse was broken on 23 December, the activities involving faeries opened up again - except for Faerie Quests which would not return until 7 February. The map was also redesigned to show the city grounded.

Faerieland
Faerieland consists of a central city and a surrounding area. The city contains a wide range of faerie-themed shops and is home to Queen Fyora's castle and the Hidden Tower.

Team Faerieland
Despite changing their on field formation and adding several new faces to their roster, Faerieland's Yooyuball team is still considered one of the worst teams in the league. They have participated in all the Altador Cup tournaments, yet they have never placed higher than 15th overall.

Trivia
*Faerieland was voted Best Place to Live during the 2008 Neopies.

Brightvale is a peaceful kingdom ruled by the wise King Hagan. Like their king, the citizens of Brightvale value knowledge and wisdom above all else. Because of this, Brightvale has a nearly endless supply of well educated scholars. This prosperous land is also famous for its beautifully crafted stained glass windows.

When it was first released on August 11, 2004, users could only access Brightvale by clicking on a special signpost in Meridell. However, on June 24, 2006, Brightvale became directly accessible from the main map of Neopia.

History
Unlike the neighbouring kingdom of Meridell, Brightvale is best known for its well-educated populace. The kingdom is ruled by King Hagan, who is brother to Meridell's ungainly King Skarl. King Hagan feels embarrassment over his family ties and therefore does not have a close relationship with Skarl.

Although close to Meridell, the two kingdoms have very little else in common. The citizens of Brightvale celebrate knowledge and learning above all else, treasuring their fine literature and history. From the outside, many other Neopians seem to look down upon the residents of Brightvale, thinking them snobbish, though Brightvalers appear to neither notice nor care.
Though they were famous for their shady tactics and foul play in 2006, Brightvale's Yooyuball team has since turned over a new leaf and abandoned their cheating ways. The team has had relatively poor performances in last several Altador Cup tournaments, and due to a decree by King Hagan, the team did not participate in the 2009 games at all.
:Altador directs here. For information on the ruler of Altador, see King Altador

Altador is a Greco-Roman themed city and kingdom founded over 1,000 years ago. It was the first world to be revealed from the "other side" of Neopia. It was the setting of the Neopets: The Darkest Faerie video game, and was released on the website on March 1, 2006. Before this time, it was isolated from the rest of the planet by a bubble of slow time.

The city operated the Altador Cup annually before its disappearance, and has resumed this since 2006. It was accessed before the other side of Neopia was charted by a magical portal in Fyora's chambers in Faerie City, discovered by "two brave Neopets" - believed to be Tormund and Roberta.

Altador was founded by 12 different heroes, commemorated in the Hall of Heroes. It is current ruled by a Council of the eleven remaining heroes, headed by King Altador.

History of Altador
Much of the history of Altador is shrouded in mystery, while pieces of it have been revealed in The Darkest Faerie video game and in the Altador Plot.

Altador was originally a peaceful and prosperous land, ruled by 12 protectors, one of which was a Dark Faerie, now only known as The Darkest Faerie. As the other leaders aged, The Darkest Faerie believed she should be the sole ruler of Altador because of her immortality, and began plotting against the other protectors to take over. Jerdana, the one of the 12, banished the Faerie from Altador when she learned of her plot. Outraged at her banishment, she planned against Altador from afar, and returned wreaking havoc on the city. To protect the city, Jerdana placed it within a spell of slow time. Fyora then used Jerdana's Orb to trap The Darkest Faerie in stone, and where she fell to the bottom of the Maraquan ocean.

1000 years passed for the rest of the world, while little to no time passed in Altador, and The Darkest Faerie eventually broke free, forcing the remaining 11 (who blended into the world of Neopia) into action to find two heroes to fight against her. Tormund and Roberta were separately selected, and eventually came to Altador to discover a way to stop The Darkest Faerie and release Altador from the time spell, both of which were accomplished.

Altador
Altador is a city south of Shenkuu and west of Haunted Woods designed in the theme of ancient Greece and Rome. It is over 1000 years old and first discovered through a portal in Faerieland. It houses the Altador Cup, a Neopian wide event where teams battle in a game called Yooyuball.
Though they boast an airtight defence, Altador's Yooyuball team has never been able to generate enough scoring power to do well in the Altador Cup. Altador was defeated by Krawk Island during the first round of Altador Cup I and has not place any higher than 15th in the last four tournements.
Trivia
*Originally, when Neopets: The Darkest Faerie was being developed, Altador was originally called Talador. Because of this, there are Neopet TCG cards and Neopian Times editorials which make reference to it. Due to some legal considerations, however, this had to be changed, and "Altador", an anagram of the original name, was chosen instead.
*While Altador contains many features of the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations such as an amphitheatre, liberal use of columns, and togas worn by the inhabitants, it is not meant to be based on any one specifically.
*People originally visited Altador by clicking on a portal in the Faerie City in Faerieland, however this was changed once the other side of Neopia was released. With the redesign of Faerie City and Faerieland in September 2009, the portal was removed for good.
