A Petpetpet is a small insect similar to fleas or other such creatures which act as pets for a Petpet. Many of them resemble insects, leading many to believe that these critters are actually parasites of Petpets, much like real-world fleas and ticks. As of May 31, 2006, there are 30 Petpetpets in existence.

Petpetpets are usually expensive, and are often viewed as a status symbol. The Petpetpet article of the Neopets Help section says, "Petpetpets are usually found by your Petpet. Very rarely, Petpets are able to catch one of these elusive little bugs in their mouth, and happily bring them back to their owners." If the sole source of the Petpetpets is indeed a random event, that would certainly help explain their rarity, and hence their high prices.

Once obtained, a Petpetpet can attach itself to a Petpet by following these guidelines...

#The Petpet that will become the host of the Petpetpet to is attached to the users active Neopet.
#The Petpetpet is in their inventory.
#Refreshing the inventory until the Petpetpet disappears.

Assuming the disappearance was not the fault of the Pant Devil, the Petpetpet should now be attached to the Petpet of the users active Neopet.

If user wants to remove the Petpetpet, all they need to do is unequip the Petpet, which is achieved by clicking on the Petpet on the users Quick Ref page and selecting "Stop Playing with (Petpet's name)." The Petpetpet will then be gone, with no way of retrieving it, making it a difficult action to take, and must make sure it's what they really want to go through.

*As of May 31, 2006, there are two Avatars dedicated to Petpetpets. The first is the Mootix avatar, obtained by attaching a Mootix to your Petpet. The second is the Moach avatar, obtained by viewing the pet lookup of a pet with a Moach attached to its Petpet.
Tarla is an Ixi who runs a Shop of Mystery on the top of Terror Mountain. Within Tarla's Shop of Mystery are priced boxes, of which anything from something expensive to junk could be inside. prizes of the boxes range to below 1,000 Neopoints to thousands of Neopoints. And because the contents of the box are always random, a user could pay over 5k Neopoints for a Pile of Dung.

Trivia
*Every once in awhile, the Neopets Toolbar alerts users to an event where Tarla is giving away free and expensive items. Users who don't have the toolbar can be alerted by others who do with the proper link. Giveaway is timed and doesn't last very long. Tarla can give various prizes, from stamps to painted petpets or even paintbrushes!
The Tombola is a free daily chance game on Mystery Island. The player is given a ticket, and if it ends in a 0, 2, or 5 then they win a prize. Otherwise the player has lost, though they may still be given a booby prize out of pity. Occasionally, the Tiki Tack Man, who runs the tombola, will run out of money, and will appeal to the Neopian Public for funds (usually approaching a million Neopoints) before he can resume allow users to play.
Occasionaly, even though the user hasn't drawn a winning ticket, the Tiki Tack Man will still give out a booby prize (originally, a booby prize would be given out always in the event of a losing ticket, but this was changed for unassertained reasons).
