The '''Zafara''' is a [[Wikipedia:lemur|lemur]]-like [[Neopet]] released on May 25, 2000 as the winner of a player-submitted Neopet competition. Zafaras originally resembled a cross between a [[Wikipedia:Ferret|ferret]] and a [[Wikipedia:Chinese dragon|Chinese dragon]], but were later redesigned on February 27, 2001.

==Overview==
The Zafara is said to bring good luck to those who treat them well. According to a Neopet profiles [http://images.neopets.com/screensavers/profiles.exe screensaver], Zafaras are some of the most sensitive and artistic inhabitants of Neopia. Most Zafaras spend a lot of time playing alone when young, but often grow up to be famous musicians, painters and poets.

Zafaras primarily have three spikes on their back, but this changes in accordance with different colours and characters. According to the information on an old default Zafara [[petpage]], these spikes were protective fins and used for defence. Zafaras have an incredible hearing range, but they do not have a good sense of smell. Due to their powerful hind legs, the Zafara has a jumping ability unlike other Neopets. Zafaras have an innate ability to create fire as made apparent with their level 2 [[Battledome]] ability ''Zafara Flame''.

Prizes were released on June 14, 2005. The total points players collected from defeating oppenents in the [[Battledome]] were spent in the ''Curse of Maraqua War Prize Shop'', where 6 items were available to be bought, all 6 different depending on who users fought for. A 7th item was available for both sides, the [[Maraquan]] [[Sidebar]]. Four exclusive [[Avatar]]s were also released, only one of which could be acquired depending what the user did during the war.

The '''Acara''' is a cat-like feline and has two horns on its head which drape backwards like ponytails. Acaras are amphibious and can breathe underwater, and it is sometimes hinted that the "tentacles" somehow give the Acara the ability to echolocate when submerged in water. The tentacles may imply that the Acara was based on ''Capricorn''. In general, they tend to be very playful and enjoy exploring, racing, and looking for hidden treasure under the sea.

As their huge eyes might suggest, Acaras are known for being highly inquisitive and curious creatures. They take a great joy in coming upon secrets and hidden things, and quite a few have distinguished themselves as very talented treasure-seekers. Some condemn Acaras for being nosey, and it is true that they tend to ask a few too many questions -- but there is no ill will behind those questions, just a genuine desire to learn.

Since they are equally at home on land or underwater, Acaras prefer to live along the coast.

They can be painted in any of 36+ colors available to the species. One of the more interesting of these is the [[Maraquan]] variant, which appears to be a return to the Acara's watery roots.

When [[King Skarl]], corrupted with greed and holding great power with the Meridellian Army, captured the orb that had kept the peace and stabability in his kingdom. Since they knew no war and were peaceful, the orb was taken without any resistance. After this, the hell land that was his kingdom was ripped from the ground and began to fly over [[Meridell]], as a plague became epidemic over the [[Darigan Citadel]] and transformed its inhabitants to look different than others, with a new appearence that now can only be made with the Demon [[Paintbrush]]. Lord Darigan became obssessed with retreiving the orb for his people, and raised a large army, with one of the main commanders being [[General Kass]]. The army marched forth into what would be the First Meridell-Darigan War.

The Darigan Citadel was victorious and Meridell was sacked, as the orb and [[The Three]] corrupted Lord Darigan and drove him to insanity. He wished to destroy all of [[Neopia]], and would have, until a great uprising of some of his servants and Meridellians over-came the transformed and all-powerful Lord Darigan. He disappeared and lost his grasp on his own being, becoming animalistic, until compassion from a Meridellian girl allowed him to recover himself from being ''The Bat-Thing'' and reclaiming his being as Lord Darigan, rising up to fight the new king of the Darigan Citadel, [[Lord Kass]], Lord Darigan's former subordinate and follower. After fighting, Lord Kass disappeared mysteriously, and Lord Darigan reclaimed his empire and established a truce with Meridell, which will last 1,000 years.

Ixi are one of many different mammal species predator that exist in [[Neopia]]. They originally come from [[Neopia#Meridell|Meridell]], although you may find Ixi all over Neopia.

The Ixi are hardy forest and dark wood deer-like creatures that are renowned for their cunning and intelligence. Their speed is also something to be marveled at as watching them leap and bound through the forest is a sight to see the dark. Initially, they may appear prey to kill and eat meat, but they are always willing to lend a hand should anything wrong occur around them. However, if you enter their habitat of darkness with bad intentions, be wary as you are forewarned that they are the masters of the dark predator, and will not tolerate such ill intentions.
