Users can change the colour of their Neopets to Strawberry by using a ''Strawberry Fields Forever [[Paint Brush]]'' [[item]] at the Rainbow Pool. In addition, the [[Treasure Maps#Secret Laboratory|Lab Ray]] also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Neopet to Strawberry. Users also have the choice of changing their Neopets's colour to Strawberry when they complete a [[Rainbow Fountain|Fountain Faerie Quest]]. Lastly, a Neopet's colour can be changed to Strawberry by using an appropriate [[Morphing Potion]].

Strawberry Petpets were released along with the [[Treasure Maps#Petpet Laboratory|Petpet Lab Ray]] on August 3rd, 2005. Since using the Petpet Lab Ray is the only way of obtaining a Strawberry Petpet, and Petpets that have been zapped by the Petpet Lab Ray revert to their original form when removed from a Neopet, it is impossible for a user to have a Strawberry Petpet in their [[inventory]].

The very first Neopet, Thyassa, was "born" on November 14, 1999 (the day before the site was officially opened). Chias appear to be great favourites with Neopets staff and are available in a wide array of variations (not available to any other pet species) that look like fruits and vegetables. (For example, the Orange Chia looks like an actual orange instead of simply being orange in colour.) More recently, Neopets staff have added the Durian and the Carrot Chia. Chias are well known for being the food of Lupes, and perhaps that accounts for the many colours, or rather, flavours, of Chias.

The Chia was one of the first neopet ever made and comes in the widest variety of colours of all the pets, including a range of fruit colours attained using [[Magical Chia Pops]]. Despite their popularity with the original creators, no recent merchandise based on the Chia has ever been made available. However, when Neopets merchandise was just starting to be released, there were Yellow Chia plushies and Purple Chia plushies. Lack of new merchandise may be due to a legal dispute among Neopets and Joseph Enterprises, Inc over the use of the name "Chia" (the Chia Pet).

Joseph Enterprises, the company that made Chia Pets, sued Neopets Inc. for using the name Chia as a species. The lawsuit never got anywhere. The first chia and therefore, first neopet ever made was [[Thyassa]] mentioned later in the wiki article. The Chia, while being Neopet's first [[Neopet]] is not the most common at all.

[[Image:Bori green baby.gif|right]]The '''Bori''' is the 49th Neopet, and was released on October 13, 2004 to coincide with [[Hannah and the Ice Caves: Plot|Hannah and the Ice Caves]]. Bori are an underground armadillo-like race with fox-like heads and furry bodies who have been kept in an enchanted sleep by some strange forces since Neopia's creation. Only now are they being awoken. Although their claws are sharp enough to penetrate stone, they have timid personalities and dislike coming to the surface.

Bori are one of many different species that exist in [[Neopia]]. As a general rule Bori are quiet peaceful creatures who are rather timid. They originated from the frozen region of [[Terror Mountain]], but can now be found all over the world.

The Bori, coined the armadillo Neopet, are habitually shy. Often seen around their burrows, these creatures homes are extensively large and complex due on a large part, to their excellent digging skills. Should you need extensive piping work or underground work done, you know who to contact...that is...if you can find one. They are quiet and peaceful Neopets.

The Bori is not a limited edition pet, but their promotional colour is their exclusive ice colour, which could only be accessed by users who took part in a '''Yahoo! Toolbar''' promotion.

Thinking they were innocent concoctions, she put them for sale in her Magic Shop, until she discovered their horrifying results. The '''Kiko''' is an [[Wikipedia:Amphibian|amphibious]] [[Neopet]], and is one the original Neopets created on November 15, 1999.

==Overview==
Kikos come from [[Kiko Lake]] and other aquatic regions of [[Neopia]], capable of breathing underwater (though they can still travel on land). They have the appearance of a sphere, bearing only two arms. Their arms are used to travel in the water, enabling them to travel at high speeds. To move about on land, Kikos bounce around like the [[Blumaroo]], but can also float in the air without any visible source of propulsion, similar to the [[Peophin]]. A notable feature of Kikos is the bandage they have on their head. How it came to be on the Kiko and what its purpose is unknown. Due to the similarity of a Kiko's appearance and a [[Wikipedia:Ball|rubber ball]], the patch could perhaps be a "quick fix", similar as to how people fixed air filled rubber balls in real life.

Kikos could originally be adopted at any time, but became [[Limited Edition]] around the time Kiko Lake was introduced. A warning was given about the change on [http://www.neopets.com/nf.phtml?nf_date=2003-07-07 July 10, 2003], when 990,950 Kikos were created. The Eyrie was originally called the Cerpull which looked more like a dragon than a griffin. The Cerpull was renamed the Tatsu on the 13th of July, 2000. On January 26 the following year, the Tatsu was renamed yet again, to the Eyrie. The name has not changed since. To accompany with these name changes, the Eyrie gradually became less dragon-like by losing scales, horns and leathery wings, gaining feathery wings instead.

In redesigning the Tatsu, [[TNT]] held a Pick-A-Tatsu competition.

A '''Paint Brush''' is a special [[item]] which gives the user the ability to change the [[colour]] of one of their [[Neopet]]s. Paint Brushes were originally found by [[Random Event]]s, which means they can be bought from other user's [[shop]]s or [[Auctions]], and are also given away as prizes from [[Contests]]. Special Paint Brushes can also be bought in the [[Hidden Tower]], and newer [[plots]] also allow users to buy Paint Brushes with the points they collected from participating (the first plot to do this was the [[Lost Desert Plot]], which rewarded the '''Lost Desert Paint Brush''' for 70,000 points). There are also Petpet paint brushes, which change the colour of a [[Petpet]].

In addition to providing new ''colours'' for Neopets, some paint brush colours seem more costume-like and fanciful, such as Halloween, Plushie and Tyrannian. Some paint brushes are rarer than others, but aside from the no-trade starter brushes, they all rank expensive items.

To use a paint brush on a Neopet, a proper paint brush colour scheme must be available for the chosen Neopet, then the user must go to the [[Rainbow Pool]], where its waters allow the brushes' magic to work. Using just a paint brush on a Neopet or going to the Rainbow Pool will not change the colour of the Neopet, as both must be used in conjunction for the magic to work. A Paint brush can only be used once, and after using it on a Neopet, it will disappear. The Rainbow Pool should not be confused with the [[Rainbow Fountain]].

==Non-Paint Brush Painting==
Paint brushes can change a pet into most of its available colours, but not necessarily all. Some colours are only available via the [[Lab Ray]] including [[Robot]], Ice, Sponge, and [[MSP]]. Any colour (except Baby, Pirate, Plushie, Quiguki, Royal, and Usuki) can be given by the lab ray without need of a paint brush. Additionally, there is no Mutant Paint Brush; the only away of obtaining a mutant pet is for a player to use a Transmogrification Potion of the species he or she wants on the pet, or to get it through the lab or [[Rainbow Fountain]]. Players sometimes accidentally feed Potions to their pets, thinking they will get the colour or species change but only using it on the pet gets the desired effect.

Often, Morphing Potions and Magical Plushies are available to change a Neopet into a different species and/or colour, and are, for some of the more popular combinations, a much cheaper option that a paint brush.

Additionally, all fruit/vegetable colours (other than Strawberry) can not be obtained with a Paint Brush. These are available with a [[Magical Chia Pop]], through the Lab Ray, or the [[Rainbow Fountain]]. Chia Pops, with very few exceptions, only work on Chias. They will not turn a player's pet into a Chia.

With the exception of a few Chia fruit/vegetable colours, there are some colours that are available to only one or two pet species. Examples of this? No pet other than the [[Aisha]] can be "Alien," and Usuki paint brushes only work on [[Usul]]s and [[Quiggle]]s.

==Unusable Paint Brushes==
Very rarely, a paint brush colour is retired. The paint brushes become unusable (and in the case of the Unicorn brush, disappear completely) and pets painted the retired colour no longer remain it, but may be changed to a newer version. An example of this occurred on the 8th of January, 2002, when the Glass Paint Brush was retired, and replaced with the Tyrannian Paint Brush. Some of the glass pets were turned into the newer Tyrannian versions (the Shoyru was one of the first Tyrannian Pets), while the others remained as glass pets as a Tyrannian version was being made for each of them. ==Petpet Paint Brush==
A [[Petpet]] Paint Brush is designed for painting Petpets a specific colour. They work much in the same way as a Paint Brush for Neopets - they are used at the [[Petpet Puddle]], akin to the Rainbow Pool, to paint a Petpet attached to a user's Neopet.

Interestingly, many colours that Neopets cannot obtain with a Paint Brush, only with alternative means such as via the [[Treasure Maps#Secret Laboratory|Secret Laboratory]], are available as a Paint Brush for Petpets, such as [[Robot]] or [[Mutant]] colours.

Although, having said that, the approach to the site designs of the neopool and avatar catalogue does have some element of a... hierarchy, if you will - their own sections - that would be difficult (although not necessarily impossible) to integrate within the main body of PPT (I suppose it would really depend on the limits of how your CMS structures the guides themselves, presuming you use a CMS rather than do all the modifications by hand - the PPT NeoDex article is blank on the issue). They could remain 'separate' from the core of PPT but just be listed in guides, I suppose. Mind you, if these sections are headed by two volunteers (other than yourself, Yukio) in much the way Jacob heads the NeoDex, they could become a bit... Miffed, at having their distinction curtailed, if you follow. Of course, another way to go about it would be to divided the departments into two sections, not necessarily a formal boundary per se, but possibly one. Or you could integrate the Neopool and Avatar Catalogue (and trophy catalogue, I suppose) into one bigger section... In-depth Collectibles, perhaps?
