'''Treasure Maps''' is a collecting game begun un February 29, 2000, where users are required to collect nine pieces of a map to find a burided treasure. Each actual map piece is an [[item]], This means the pieces can be stolen, traded, sold, auctioned, disintegrated, etc. Map pieces are aquired through a [[Random Event]] or bought through the [[Shop]] of a user who aquired it through a Random Event themselves.

Announced on 3 August 2005, and can only be completed when the '''Secret Laboratory Map''' is completed. Rewards a random NP value (8,000-12,000), and access to the '''Petpet Lab ray'''. A Neopet's [[Petpet]] can be zapped by this once per day, which randomly (and semi-permanently) changes the following properties:
* Species of the Petpet
* Colour of the Petpet
* Level of the Petpet
* Name of the Petpet
* Make it disappear completely (small chance, but still possible)

Petpets who are zapped by the Petpet Lab ray are ineligible to be rewarded by the [[Petpet Protection League]], as they deem it to be a cruel action against a Petpet.

Changes to the Petpet (other than complete destruction) can be reversed by unequipping it from the Neopet. This will reverse all changes, not just the most recent ones. The Petpet will be returned to its original form.

==How to Play==
Every week, on a Thursday, we have a new game of '''Better Than You'''! We will feature somebody from Neopia who is good at a particular game, in fact so good, they could beat you blindfolded with their hands tied behind their back.

Once we launch the game, you have to try and beat their score at their game as fast as possible. The quicker you win, the bigger the prize you get. Every single win earns a special item and a medal or trophy along with a Neopoint reward!

Make sure you beat the opponent on one of your three allowed 'send scores' per day - if you send three times then you will not be able to challenge again!

There will be no more prizes after '''500 people''' have won as we will end the game.
