Couple random questions...

Wed Aug 04, 2004 8:22 pm

Does anyone know:

What a red tide is? We couldn't buy clams at the store because of a red tide...

How high the Statue of Liberty is?

And How high is the Canadian and the American Falls (Niagra Falls)

Thanks!!!

A red tide is seawater that becomes red because of large amounts bacteria in seaweed or something, and the water becomes toxic.

The Statue of Liberty is 305 feet tall (93 meters) from the ground to the tip of the flame.

The Canadian Falls is approximately 52 metres(170 ft) high. Couldn't find out about the Niagra falls, sorry.

Googled everything except the red tide one. :D

Apparently the height of Niagra falls is rather complicated... o_O

Here's a page on it.

Actually, it's large amounts of plankton that come together, causing the water to turn pink or red because of their color. This plankton is poisonous.

Nasty stuff I might add. Screws the fishing up big time. <_<

That's why I put the 'or something', I wasn't quite sure. :)
