Customizing Pets! (split #2)

I was saving towards a faerie lenny - that tail! So peacocky lol. And a faerie draik. Now, just look at the redraws... the draik looks like a plushie, and the lenny 'Nuff said. The fantastic tail is totally gone. Goooone!

My faerie lenny stayed the same. And it will. Forever. To me it's the ultimate pet. The day it was released I literally gasped when I saw it. During the customization beta I was astonished to see what the redraw option was and immediately submitted feedback protesting. I said that all it needed was a bowl of cereal and I'd have something that looked like the CocoPuffs cuckoo. I'm really, really sleepy and can't remember if anyone figured out if painting a pet automatically turns it into a permanent redraw or not. I hope you'll still be able to have a beautiful, regal peacock-like pet.

I really want to know if you paint a pet one of the drastic change colors now, will it revert to the old art and give you an option to convert (or NOT) or will it still be converted?

Some brave soul needs to get a faerie paint brush or something and test this out, but not me. XD

Thanks for the nice thought Hydrangea However it was mentioned somewhere in this thread (perhaps in an earlier split?) that if you paint a, for example, lenny faerie now, you won't have the option to revert to the old style. Really makes me wish I hadn't been greedy to get both the faerie draik and lenny together *headdesk*

thinking of the artists who loved those pets they drew. like the faerie lenny.

i wonder if the ones that you have the option to change or not are the pets that made people cry in the break room.

thank goodness my two favorite kids i can just opt to not customize.

in other news, i'm another with a flash problem - but mine is that flash loads in firefox, but it can only be seen if i scroll down. so i can't get back up to hit save. 's frustrating.

The biggest problem I have about every single pet is their size. Why are they so much smaller!?

The best I can figure is that they are leaving room in the "square" of the pet image for backgrounds and large things to hold like staves. They are literally de-emphasizing the pets in favor of "stuff" to go with the pets. How wrong-headed.

Does anyone have a list of pets that got the option of NOT being Converted? The new Bori looks awful so I obviously kept mine in the old style.

EDIT: Also, does anyone have an image of the new Mutant Mynci? I got a Transmog potion a while back but I may now sell it if the art is really bad.

My lab pet Zanvi is a mutant Mynci right now..I'll look up the picture..

It says we may receive justice early next week, and I still don't know what that means. How can we recieve justice when they basically told us not to let the door hit us in the __ on the way out if we didn't like these changes?

I've been thinking about this, and I figure that maybe there are going to be some just normal circle poses for pets, because if you look at the chocolate and snot cybunnies in the news, they are drawn in the happy poses. So maybe we will get our circle poses back, or at least our happy poses and sad poses and stuff back. See, they've changed the way the link worked on the cybunnies, making it say something like cybunny_chocolate_happy.gif or instead of having the _baby.gif ending. Because pets are not going to age, as they may have intended years ago. They probably would have had a _adult.gif ending or something if pets aged. But they won't. So they don't need the _baby.gif ending on the links.

Because they'd have to change all the links now, to the new system, this would take a lot of time, but maybe someone worked on this over the weekend and today. Maybe we will get the old poses back, just with new links?

I mean, we DO need happy poses, sad, and angry poses. And it would be easier just to use the old poses they were already using, than redraw them all.

So maybe we will see our old pets in some form or other, later on when the links are fixed.

For example, I don't like ANY of the Grey redraws. imho they were hit worse than the Faerie or Darigan. Some even look HAPPY, fer pete's sake.

Oh I forgot about the Grey pets. Yes, the new ones are HORRIBLE! Why even have the colour if you defeat the whole point of it?

His color doesn't change, he turned to yellow today, though I don't mind the color he is now.

All of my pets stayed pretty much the same.
The only one who is a redraw is my Desert Hissi, which isn't terribly bad.. but now she looks all happy and stuff, when I was trying to go for the regal, elegant, angry look.

However, my Faerie Lenny, Royal Kyrii Boy and Darigan Aisha are the old style.
So i'm never EVER using that customization thing, because I don't want to wreck my poor pets.. They're lovely as they are. They don't need silly clothes.

As far as clothes go, are there any out yet that you can buy? From what it said in the editorial it sounded like there were new ones, but the old ones weren't active yet.

That's a glitch in the new system, but it's working fine for me.

Mk, so it's been a couple days and I've let this change sink in, and as much as I'd love to quit in anger..that's not gonna work out for me. Subeta isn't my thing and I am too attached to my neopet pixels.

I've been looking through species and colors and everything and I think I've come to some decisions about my pets. Ukyo is hideous right now. I loved his old pose so much with his raggedy ears.. I'm going to wait til we see how things settle this week, but by this weekend if nothing changes I'm going to use my ToW points and paint him ghost, because I rather like how that turned out. Eventually, I hope TNT releases a ninja color, and that's what I've always intended for him end up as. As long as the Aisha's dang mouth is closed.

I'm going to keep Twilight as my lab pet on my main account for a little while longer..I don't hate the grey redraw..at least it's still sad looking. :/ Eventually, I'm not in such a hurry to paint her anymore, but it's still my goal.

I've been name stalking a pet that I missed by two hours three years ago. I'd been planning on turning her into a Darigan Aisha and I had her petpet picked out and a whole story.... But that's out the window as I don't think I can get used to the new redraw. I'm hoping they give us an option, but I am not holding my breath. I've decided that I'm probably going to bring Zanvi over once he hits 200hp or 100 strength then paint him pirate. I'd always wanted him to be alien, but no more.

One of my biggest problems with the new Aisha are that their mouths are all open. I hate that. Coy smile? Sure. Big happy grin used for catching flies? No thanks. If TNT ever forces a redraw on Ginny..I'll paint her baby or something.

I think overall though I'm adjusting to the changes. I still think they were stupid and needless, and I really feel for some people and their pets..but dare say I kinda like some of the redraws better? I am so brainwashed.

I agree. Mostly we're bemoaning the loss of our old pets, but I also think that a few got their much-needed updates, and don't look bad. The standard Eyrie and Peophin look better to me than they did before.
