My next goal is to buy a pirate p/b, mixing pirate clothes with bones will look great.

Okay, because I don't have any pets which have clothes as part of their painted state, can you explain exactly how you mix paintbrushes? I'd love to put some items from the Pirate Eyrie onto my Silver Eyrie.

On topic, though I still feel those who have unique pets are being completely ripped off (especially Royal, none of the pets are Anthro anymore!!!) I think once TNT actually gets some clothes for us to dress our pets up with the customisation will start growing on me. That was a very, very bad move on their part, releasing their customisation feature without having anything for users to customise their pets with!! They could have waited another week for the artists to finish making some basic clothing to be shared amongst all the pets (e.g. plain t-shirts, shorts, skirts, hats, etc)

If you have a pet with a paint colour that has removable aspects (EG: Christmas, Royal, Halloween pets etc), you can click "Applied" at the top of the screen to see what items are attached to your pet.

Then you click each item, and it pops up with the option to remove it. If you do that, it goes to your closet.

From there, you can save your pet. Then go to a different pet of the same species, and the item from the first pet will be available for you to use on your second pet.

It's easy, I went to the customization menu and took off the clothes and bones of my halloween zafara, then I painted him ghost and put the bones back on him (not the robe). After that I went to my darigan zafara customization menu and put the robe on him.

(I know my english is not that good... excuse me for that, I hope you understand me anyway)

Ohhhhhh awesome! Thanks to both of you (and I understood you perfectly XD) *goes to save up for a Pirate Paint Brush and another Silver Paint Brush*

Those Zafara customs look pretty neat, especially the Ghost/Halloween combo

Zombie Zafara by any chance?

Does anyone know where I can find/buy some wearable items for my Ruki?

Does it have to be paintbrush items only? Or are other items floating about, and where do they restock?

My baby eyrie looked like crap, so I used the fountain faerie quest I had sitting around and made him a pirate. Then I took off all the pirate clothes, because my neopets are animals and do not wear silly clothes. Now he's a pretty blue-grey eyrie with a black mane and tail (and a medallion, because that's the one thing that won't come off yet). Eyries are one of the few redrawn pets that look better than the old versions -- now their wings actually come from their shoulders and not their backs.

I need to say something:

Darigan and Grey look awful, and so do scattered pets like the robot kyrii or tyrannian techo, but what does it matter how the basic species are posed and expressing themselves? The pose they give you doesn't represent what the pet is like 24/7. The CONCEPT is all that defines your pet. The way it's standing and its facial expression are just a random moment in time that shouldn't mean anything at all. You can't expect the official art to always represent the personality you want.

In the PAST, revamps usually went like this:

Image ---> Image
(what were they THINKING? The old had SUCH a unique style!)

Image --> Image
(this, I have never recovered from)

...You never knew what ridiculous thing the staff might turn your beloved pets into one day; we came to expect it, and it happened to pets with horrific regularity. Now, it's been years since they've done a revamp this extreme. They know better. And yet, players still get just as angry when their pet is suddenly smiling a different way.

I'm sure they are aware of how idiotic some of the redraw colors look, and they've already acknowledged that they're going to be fixing a lot of them. They fixed the marshmallow grundo already.

Yes, I get that. However, a few tweaks to the pose can change the way the species looks. And example is the Elephante. Changing the eye shape and exaggerating the trunk shape make the facial expression harder to read. They also changed the body to have a lot of boring blank space, which looks bad, unless they have some really elegant elephante sashes coming out soon.

Scythemantis wrote:Now, it's been years since they've done a revamp this extreme. They know better. And yet, players still get just as angry when their pet is suddenly smiling a different way.

It's far from just the smile. For me anyway, the problem is in cases where they changed the face to be less esthetically pleasing. In some cases, like for Xweetoks, there was never any reason to change anything besides the fist. The rest of the body was in the same position it's in now, but it looks stiff and awkward now.

If they do in fact do this, then I'll be a total supporter of the new pets. Until then, I remain disappointed.

edit: And no, I don't think TNT secretly hates us all. They'd shut down the website or all quit if they did. I just don't think how the artists could think that some of the new pets look good. I'm not just talking about the former redraw colours. I'm talking about the basic colours. And if the artists knew that some of the new pets are not pleasing to the eye, then whoever was in charge of the schedule should have allowed an extra six months to fix the pets.

A (not yet complete) comparsion of "old" and "converted" pet images: http://www.neopets.com/~shieboo

EDIT: Ok, that nearly killed me (literally, I rather spectacularly chocked on my coke upon seeing it):

You know, without looking it up, I can't tell what pet that's supposed to be anymore.

OMG .... thank you for that link. That basically crushed all my hopes to paint and morph my pet into a Darigan Draik (and I'm glad my poor Darigan Moehog wasn't converted by force.):(

Sun Apr 29, 2007 6:40 pm

My tyrannian Lupe was converted by force. I hate it. But my tyrannian draik is still okay. Guh.
*sighs* ...

And the Maraquan Krawk is utterly... I just... I think I might go cry.

Wow, thanks for the link. I knew the redraws were bad, but not that bad. (I got off easy-I had a Buzz, Peophin, Lupe, and an unconverted Moehog, so I managed to get the pets that looked mostly like their old styles.)

Is it just me, or do most of these new redraws look feminine? If I were a guy, and had mostly male pets, (Especially the krawk. Shudder.) I would be really ticked that they'd all been turned into girls.

Whoa, that meerca! :o I admit, I didn't care much for the old meerca, but...... those huge ears for some reason make the body look like one big chin.

*Edit* Okay, I was trying to refrain from making any comparisons, but.......
Image
This looks like a young princess, sophisticated but kind.

This looks like a 6-year-old dressing up in mommy's gowns.

They lost all their character here. And the royalgirl lupe looks just as bad. (But in a different way.) The royal colors really lost something when they had their anthro-ness removed.

The redraws look feminine because they're all done with more curves than angles. People tend to equate curved lines with girls and strait lines/angles with boys. They also simplified a lot of the detail. I think Smudge said that it looks like the new pets might be aminated. I think so to they've all had their details simpified in the redraw (clothing details removed, less spots, color shading, like the lutari and all the rainbow pets).
