April 27 News - New Site Layout (Revamp to 1024x768)

Most of my childhood memorys on neopets are gone in one swift revamp of a site,one that hasn't changed conformed to other website by being flashy and awkward . Thats all changed now

shapu is confused. However, shapu is generally pleased.

I don't really think it's all that cluttered. I'm not a fan of the lefthand bar, with the status of my pet being there, but perhaps that will become an optional feature in userprefs. And I don't have any neofriends, so that will always be an empty box for me.

Overall, though, I'm pretty OK with it.

The meept was right: we were not prepared.

At first, I was pretty happy. I like the new site layout, and they finally gave us basic options to change our sidebars too, and improved some of the ones I didn't like (thinking mainly Qasalan and Altador Cup here). I was pretty pleased, actually, despite my lookup being ruined. I never did like it that much. The guild I'm in has slightly exploded though, weird layout changes there.

Then I went and had a look at my pets. All of them were customised. I didn't think it'd be a problem, I could just change it back, you know. Except I couldn't. And now I'm stuck with ugly pets. Particularly my Blue Krawk, which looks awful. My Baby Gnorbu is so small, but maybe the lab ray will change that. I really just want my old pets back. My Maraquan Buzz didn't fair too badly, but still, I preferred the old art set.

I'm feeling pretty bad to anyone who's lost something like a Faerie Pteri (though have been delightfully informed that they're not affected, shame to anyone who wanted to paint one) though. I hope we can change our pets back. I really don't like these new designs much.

I'm glad I don't have to change my Darigan Scorchio because the new one is all happy and whatnot which would be counterproductive to having a brooding Darigan Scorchio and a peppy Rainbow Koi.

Also -- why do all the pets want to punch someone? Can't they have body torsion without clenched fists? what about jazz hands?

The Rainbow Pool is still showing the old pet images. Is there anywhere with a compiled list of the new pet images? I'm curious as to how extensive the damage is.

Some pets that have been drastically changed (i.e the lutari) don't have the option to stay the old way - how on earth did they go about deciding which ones would have the option to change?

Same here. I have horrible vision. As do probably a lot of people. I sure wish that they would have at least beta tested some of this before just tossing the whole thing at us at once. Or, at least come on PPT and other Neo fansites and get our feedback, like Adam did way back when the banner ads were first created.

now.. with that being said, I rather like it. Though I do wish for a little bit more say so in what's on my main page. I don't have neofriends, they're all on aim so that's pretty much useless for me.

I like the new question of the day, easy neopoints that don't require much effort is a plus. the new items button you all should be used to by now, this website itself has that on the front page.

I dunno though, having my pet on the side bar kinda reminds me of what I often forget to do, feed my pet.

Aishas are/were my favourite pets. I really do not like the new look, especially Darigan. It's beyond hideous. It's incredibly poor. I love Aishas, but not in their new look. They're very ugly.

Hah, I thought it might be an April Fool's joke at first. Maybe a late one. Somewhat reminds me of the 'hip, trendy' joke a few years ago. How sad.

Ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly!! I absolutely *despise* this new layout. How is this fair to those of us who still use 800x600? Not to mention, neo now looks even more like a website solely created for teenagers and younger. It's seems gimmicky and soulless to me, and it's almost an insult to those of us who have been loyal neo users for years. I LIKED the old layout, and I really liked my old neopets. It would have been really nice if they had given us some advance warning, or an option to keep the old layout.

It just seems to me that neo doesn't really care about user input any more. I go on another site that, every time something major is changed, the creator asks the users for input about about it, and if enough people hate it, she always changes it back. It's really nice to be somewhere where you're worth more than just the money you might donate, and where you're still important to the site even if you're over 16.

The one good thing, my neopets generally ended up looking better than (or at least as good as) their old styles. The Speckled Buzz is actually kinda cool now. (Although, it has a clenched fist as well. ) My Sponge Moehog is the one pet that is WAY uglier, but for some reason they decided that that would be one of the 'changeable' neopets, so I got to keep the older, better style.

Ugh. OK, some things will just take getting used to. But they stuck so much junk and empty space on the top and left of the screen, I cant see the important stuff without scrolling down AND right.

I just had a really big/important American History test, and the entire time I was like...JFK..missle crisis..HOLY MOLY NEOPETS IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOW. Yeah, I think in caps. But..so I'm not sure how that test will turn out.

Anyways. Upon further reflection, it doesn't make me quite so queasy. It is much better when viewing with a bigger screen. I think it will be interesting to see what we can do with our lookups now.

Things I don't like..I don't like that if your pet doesn't have a petpet it lists it right under like it's a bad thing. I HATE that we don't get to choose between the redraws and normal (yet, but even a little while is too long)..I megaloathe that the search bar is at the bottom. It's very awkward.

And I don't like how much scrolling is involved. I know we had to scroll before, but my fingers are really feeling it now. :/

I wish it was more like Livejournal where you could choose the nice looking old version or the crappy newtastic one. But I'm sure that is too complicated or whatever.
