And for those who aren't WoW-addicts (of course we aren't WoW-addicts, we're Neopets addicts already), here's what they are referencing:

9MB Flash-encoded movie: http://media.worldofwarcraft.com/bc-cin ... WXP-EN.htm

Or check under "World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Cinematic Intro" at their media downloads page for other viewing options.

Now, we just need to determine whether this means the staff was sucked into WoW:Burning Crusade or we're going to have a WoW-esque plot of some sort....

:o Wow, a giant blinking meepit is really a scary thing to see at 6am.

I'm so impressed!

I'm joining the Feepits if a war is coming.

Oh geez, yay more pop culture references I don't care about. I suppose I would have been more impressed if we actually had a news addendum.

Bah. To be frank, I can't believe people still play such games. Sorry to be such a party pooper but these MMORPG things never were my style. Poo poo! :P

Who wants to spend hours ... like accomplishing nothing? Grab yourself a game of Myst and use your brain, or play Neopets and enjoy the Meepits.

I hate how Neopets tries to appeal to more people by alienating others. Besides, if they really want to impress us, there are plenty of ways to improve and to amuse us without just adding extra Flash to the site.

I think that's a bit overly cynical. They have WoW players on staff, the WoW players said "Hey let's introduce something new to the site this way! S'cool!" and other people were like "Whatever, dude, it's not like other people won't get the thrust of the idea," and then the most maturity-challenged person on staff said "Haha, you said 'thrust.'"

Thu Apr 26, 2007 8:34 am

LOL if only Neopets ever did anything 'original'. I liked it much better when I just assumed that what they parroted was not already overdone.

Again, I apologize for sounding 'harsh' but if I want to play WoW, I would be ... playing WoW right? Or isn't it enough for 'you people'? Hmmm.... :P (Almost sounds like a battledomer mentality .. and I still don't get it!) Sigh.

I don't know what the appeal is of this role playing stuff. I have a great imagination and use it often. I just don't get what the big deal is. Sorry. It's like akin to 'enjoying' using Linux or something, having to do 3-10 actions to create one enjoyable event, if you are lucky to get it working.

EDIT: I am up past my bedtime anyway, and that makes me grumpy. I don't mean to insult anyone, trust me. But I can gripe about 'no fun'! lol

I think my mother has something to do with this! It's her birthday today. This cannot be co-incidence! It just can't...

I'm not a WoW player either, and I never will be. But when I looked at the news, I understood that they were about to reveal something big. The line at the bottom was just a throwaway joke, you know? We won't care about it after the big release of whatever.

Thu Apr 26, 2007 8:45 am

But that is what makes it MORE LAME, in my opinion. Use a great 'line' from a 'popular' whats-and-so .. and voila, that is supposed to excite me?

Like I said, I'd have preferred any or no line and just some 'real' news. I would have even preferred NO new news WITHOUT the lame 'pop cult'.

If it is a new plot, it would have been nicer to see them introduce it in a different manner. I feel 'alienated' and out-of-the-loop now, but if/when it begins, none of us will hardly remember the beginning one-liner that had nothing to do with the rest of the plot anyway. Even more lame, geez.

Besides, I assumed it was regarding the customization thing. Now, see, that one-liner just made me angry and not care much but to rant.

Anjuna, I think you're taking this way over the top. It's really nothing to get wound up about and it has nothing to do with WoW; it's to do with Neopets, okay?

Thu Apr 26, 2007 9:21 am

Yeah I get it. And I get over the top sometimes about Neopets. I just hate the recycled cult references. I just needed to vent about that before sleep.

Pretend I was never here. ;) (And good night y'all.)

Personally, I would have preferred news. It was funny, but not "Haha! That was so worth a days news" funny.

That said, nowadays, a day's news is getting less and less anyway.

You said it. Mind you, it came as a shock last time I looked at my shield. "I've been playing for HOW long?!"

As per the screen caps... if the meepit *is* a trojan meepit... I'm betting on a war brewing. Mainly because of the "For the Hoarde!" or "For the Alliance!" comments. Looks like those might be the sides we can choose.

If they called the two sides of a war Horde and Alliance, Blizzard would sue them for stealing the names of their copyrighted World of Warcraft main factions.

For the Alliance!
