*raises hand*
On topic: sorta disappointed that there wasn't a huge plot point last night. Who thinks something is going to happen today? I'm crossing my fingers.

Off topic: who here thinks the Yurble Janitor/Chef/Foreman is going to return in another plot?
OH I do I do Indeed. Don't know if anyone else mentioned this but did you see a familiar looking mop in the corner of the Caretaker's Vault. Also the waste paperbasket had an Altador style sun on it . Maybe our janitor friend has family in the haunted woods and he can show up because he came over early to help get thahksgiving dinner ready.
And now that I woke up at quater to 3 this morning I will be using the haunted woods sidebar for luck till the plot is done (my prize for being all sleeply for having split my sleptime)

Everyone knows there's 2 parts to chapter 8 right? I don't know when they released it, but part 2 is up right now.

It's along side the first.
TNT released the first 2 pages with the news, and the later 2 later on. Don't ask me why - after reading them all I can't see any point to split them up.

Other than making a million people go "OMG i h8 j00000000!!!!" at TNT that is

(This is going to be long, but please bear with me.)
The discussion about more inclusive use of pet stats in plots sparked a few ideas. There's no reason why your pet's stats couldn't have an effect on a plot (outside the battledome) without completely bypassing the challenge.
This should be based on the stats of your active pet--maybe they could even include a check of your inactive pets' stats, and have your pet say something like, "Maybe [other pet] should be doing this. [He/she] is [smarter/stronger/faster] than I am." if one of the other pets has a higher score in the relevant stat.
Here are some ideas:
Intelligence
1) We've been seeing lots of mazes lately. What if, each time you visited an important location in a maze--like the entrance, or the meepit circle, or the faerie statue or libraries in the LDP--you had a chance of adding a link to that location to the page. Pets with a high intelligence stat would have a greater chance to "remember" the location. If you need to get back there, you click the link, and your pet says, "Follow me! I know the way!"--thus bypassing some of the tedious clicking.
2) Your pet could have "flashes of insight", again based on intelligence. These could be minor pointers about certain puzzles ("Hmm...these vines are slimy, but they seem pretty tough.") or just add details of the story that don't show up in the comic.
Color/Species
1) The Haunted Woods plot has had us clicking through graveyards quite a bit. What if a future plot featured similar maps, but with guards and small obstacles (walls and streams, for example). If you pass too close to a guard, he sees you and chases you off or attacks you. Invisible or Camouflage pets could be allowed to pass closer to guards without being seen. Flying pets could pass over walls, and aquatic pets could swim across streams.
Defense
1) A similar map minigame could feature randomly placed traps, each of which deals damage to your active pet. The damage would be a percentage of your pet's base hit points, but would be reduced by his defense stat. If your pet runs out of hit points, he returns to the start of the map at full health. The damage could just be applied in the minigame, or it could be "real" damage, fixable with healing potions. Defense alone shouldn't carry you through, but it should make it easier.
Movement
1) One obvious application of the movement stat is to reduce downtime in repeatable puzzle steps, like carrying handfuls of sand, or fetching potion ingredients. I believe it was said that this was done in the LDP, but I'm not sure if it was verified.
2) In the avoid-the-guards map minigame, maybe a high movement stat could give you a chance to escape a guard who spots you, preventing him from sending you back to the start. Instead, you get randomly moved back a number of steps to represent running away.
Strength
1) More minigame obstacles--have things you can push aside if your strength stat is high enough.
2) How about a scenario where something is blocking your path--like a boulder in front of a cave, say. The puzzle element lies in finding items you can assemble into a gadget to move the boulder (boards, rope, pulleys, and the like). The higher your strength, the fewer pulleys you need--if it's high enough, all you need is the board to use as a lever.
Battling
1) How about giving the option to fight your way through some puzzle elements? Like in the minigames I mentioned above, where you have to sneak past guards. What if, on getting spotted by a guard, you're given the choice to fight him as a battle dome opponent? If you win, you can keep going in the minigame, and if you lose, you get sent back to the start. The difficulty of the guard would be scaled to your pet's stats.

And in response to forcesinbalance, you have some good ideas. Especially the intelligence ones ^^

Ah, I didn't read it until this afternoon (went out last night, got home far too late, slept in until one pm. I love being self employed!) so I guess by the time I read it the second part had already been added.

Well... it's nothing new, but now we know some more difficult level should come up. If Sophie and Bruno knew things before, we're more or less on our own now...
I wonder wether Eliv Thade is coming in somewhere, although we did already do the anagram

I agree with you entirely, there. I never claimed that wars are "unfair". Because they're not. Well, the Maraquan war was unfair but I believe just about everyone who got screwed over by that will agree with me there. (By the way, I wasn't there for the Maraquan war, but I did my research so yeah...It was unfair. I'm sure TNT didn't mean for it to be that way, and they were just trying to find a way to appease everyone, but it turned out a major fiasco.) However we weren't discussing the fairness of wars...simply how it was unlevel ground that there are ONLY wars. Yes there are puzzle plots, but again I state...those teset the player, not the pet. We were discussing the idea of adding plots that involve other pet traits.

Awww, thank you. ^-^ I keep changing my avatar 'cause I'm not sure which one I like best. I have three. XD The current one I've got is just a smaller version of a Sophie ani that Neopets made, though. I love Sophie too. ^-^ I have a thing for Ixis.

Awww, thank you. ^-^ I've poked around on the general boards before...I'm just skittish. I tend to be a very shy person. o.o
forcesinbalance I love your ideas. ^_^ Very creative.
